We recently moved, and because of the area had to make Sky or broadband/telephone/internet provider. We went for Sky fibre which promised the earth. Whilst the speeds are pretty good, the supplied router struggles when more than one device wants to stream. Example, when NOW TV is streaming in one room, a playstation is online gaming in another and someone is online somewhere else, it's all too much for the sub standard router. So, I bought a new router. It wasn't until I tried to connect it that the useless broadband tech adviser pointed out that in the small print it states that you cannot use a different router than the one supplied on their fibre package. Which means I'm stuck with this sub standard junk for the remainder of my contract. Clearly Sky don't want you taking full advantage of your fibre network with a decent router.

I my opinion the braodband was not bad. However we had problems when we started use it, as we had to proof to the SKY customer service adviser that phone line is not working because of their fault. Finally when we had to cancel the contract, as we were leaving UK, I have read in terms and conditions that I have to leave 31days notice, but for some reason sky customer service adviser told me she can cut off the service after 14days, of course!! Why not? I paid my termination fees straight away, and after one month I saw on my bank account I was charged again for termination fees by SKY!!! So I called to customer service from abroad and I was told that it is my fault not their adviser as I knew I had to leave 31days notice. So means adviser pushed me into trouble? the worst service ever, unfortunately ;/ disappointed :/

I ordered sky basic package with broadband yesterday Nov 15, only to find it cheaper with BT
I spend an hour yesterday trying to order I was kept waiting between each question... It dragged on and on
I woke up and thought what if I ever need to call again my patience is out already. I just called to cancel I spoke to 4 guys and 20 mins later it's cancelled.
Come on sky give your customers a break!!!!!!
I might have stayed if you could match BT s price. But with this level of service it's a definate - NO!!!

I used Sky for four months after returning from abroad (my lodger chose them). Service was patchy, intermittent, with daily drop outs. I was with another provider previously for four years and never had any of these problems.
Now I'm switching to a new provider the Sky customer service don't seem to know their aszes from their elbows. Different stories, conflicting info. Had to give up on the first provider I tried to go with as the order was rejected because of the mess made by Sky not closing the line properly. And I missed out on their deal. With the new provider, Sky ceased two days ago and the new provider cannot provision the line because Sky have not done their job properly. If the order fails again then my new provider will have to send an engineer meaning in total it will take up to three weeks for me to get back online due to Sky's total incompetence. I have recently become self employed so three weeks offline is damaging my income potential. My verdict? Avoid like the plague. Hideously overpriced too, for such shoddy customer service.

Absolute garbage. We have contacted Sky for an engineer to sort out or check our problem. Instead we got someone on the phone making up excuses and giving us the most basic advices that we have been trying for months. Sometimes my internet goes down to or below 0.5 mbps, that's ******* awful. My avg speed is about 6 mbps. The people at Sky blame us such as saying "don't put your router next to a phone, radio or below" despite the fact that when we had an engineer set it up, he set it up the way it should and already told us this but even then our wifi is beyond garbage. The router is above facing everyone in a free space so why is it still so ****? Because its ******* SKY!!!

Writing this after my hub has broken again thats 2 in 4 months when it works broadband isn't that bad get reasonable speeds. Unfortunately broken twice and need engineer visit both times. Moved house 4 months ago and because my wife is now studying online decided to get fibre Unfortunately sky was not a good option and we have had to get a hot spot account just so my wife can still do her lessons. I wouldn't recommend sky to anyone and im now wishing I had read all the reviews on this site

I'm writing this as an ex sky customer having switched to EE. I want to move back go Sky. Ok, it's a big more, but worth it for no broadband glitches in iplayer, remote working, better Xbox performance.

Considering that Sky has an 11MBPS average speed in our area, we are extremely disappointed to only be getting 3.5MBPS especially in this age of technology, for a package that is "up to 24MBPS" it is suprising to see such inferior connectivity in the city. We are currently seeking alternative companies + speeds.

good service overall seems speedy enuff and no major connection problems....only gripe is the email service...keep getting requests for username and passwords and it gets very annoying....sky told me its rare but it happens all the time with me....but going to sky.com/unlock and follwing thru that page usually sorts it out...apparantly its something to do with skymail being supplied by google....gets annoying tho that they cant seem to sort it....heyho

Got home after a weeks break and no internet or landline phone , assumed it was a temporary fault switched the box , router etc off and on again , still no joy.
Left it overnight still not working spent god knows how much calling sky on mobile got the bog standard its the micro filters response.
They posted new filters as expected did no good i had already established myself it was the phone line by simply plugging the phone direct into the socket and bypassing all the sky gubbins altogether.

Called sky back after 10 minutes of being told it was my fault and my equipment they eventually made an appointment for openreach to attend which they did this morning 11 days after the fault was reported .

Engineer checked line said in seconds the line is faulty , checked the socket the line outside and the box in the street it turns out another openreach engineer had needed to disconnect our line at the exchange to repair another line but had forgot to re connect our line.

took an hour no apology but at least its working.
    Sky service is terrible..

There is no such thing as fast broadband for the ordinary consumer with limited technical know how. The broadband service providers are too free is promising guaranteed fast speeds and there is no accountability when they don't deliver. I am referring to all broadband providers not just my current supplier.

Paying for a supposedly guaranteed 60Mb. Not receiving over 25Mb. 4 engineer visits later, still the same. Trying to speak to someone from Sky virtually impossible. Wifi regularly fails, meaning working from home only possible by tethering to my 4G phone...

Shockingly bad. Signed up for 25mb and regularly get less than 2mb. Just ran a speed test and it came back at 1.8mb. Made the mistake of moving from Virgin at a stable 40mb, just waiting to cancel Sky when contract ends and go back to Virgin. The minimum speed guarantee is at 2mb, which is a complete joke and we didn't realise until it was too late. How are they allowed to set 2mb on a 25mb deal?? Surely it should be at least 50% of what they advertise? Jokers!!

When it works it’s fast but when it’s slow it’s useless. I live close to the city centre and still the range is awful. At least 3-4 times a day the WiFi will just cut out. Can. Ever get through to sky to discuss issues.

I was transferred to Sky from O2 a few years ago and am more than pleased. The speed is consistently 37mbs against the 'offered' speed of 40MBS. I get virtually no drop outs and always get through to someone in minutes and always find that they will do a deal at the end of the contrcat.

Bad in every way. Left them and after 9 months they are trying to ask for money.
There is life after sky... indeed any cable based broadband and that is wi-fi, the true one, got a box installed on my wall and paying 'fibre wifi' no telephone and not virgin without direct debit or contract, the installation as costly but well gained in stop stress.
Sky is a terrible company totally desorganised, no proper paper work and just wonder if the revenues have catched up with them yet!

Would give 0 stars if possible. Just the most horrible customer service I have ever seen on earth. First, I couldn't even contact them properly due to Covid-19. My point is, if you are having troubles with lack of staff, simply don't book new customers in. It took me one month and a half and 3 engineers visits to get my internet set with Sky. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO SET MY BROADBAND. After every failed visit I had to wait for 2 extra weeks since they informed me they were not able to contact Open Reach, which is RIDICULOUS of course. After the third visit that didn't work, I called them again and one of the attendees simply CANCEL MY ACCOUNT without I have asked for it. Actually, the lady was offering to cancel my account, and even though I said that I'd rather had the internet fixed, she cancel even though. I only got to know with an automatic e-mail that my order had been cancelled - but ironically this lady made me a big favour. Another thing Sky does is to send you automatic e-mails/ replies that has nothing to deal with what you have just discussed on the phone - which makes it really confusing. After my account has been cancelled, I immediately change to another supplier. Although, I still not have internet due to a fault on my line and I am aware it is a complicated issue, the new supplier is able to contact Open Reach many times, explain the situation and what the engineer has told me. Also, they are able to give me priority access since it is the 5th engineer visit already and it is a issue that concerns both companies. So my only advice would be never never never choose Sky, they are simply terrible.

Was with O2 Broadband for five years and never had a single issue. Was dumped onto Sky after O2 exited the market and have had nothing but problems. Clearly, bandwidth throttling is in use (speeds falling from 8-9 Mb/s to 0.2Mb/s) despite their protestations that this was not the case.

Their useless black box showed 11.3 Mb/s(!) at all times and they told me that this was the only accurate guide! Throttling so bad that sometimes I couldn't even receive basic text emails. All on a supposedly 'unlimited' tariff that cost £9.50 pm as opposed to £7.50 pm on O2.

Their support people are hopeless - pleasant, but without a clue beyond chanting the standard "Have you plugged in a filter? Have you tried changing wireless channel?" Tier 2 people even worse, charmless with impenetrable Ulster accents, asking you to dismantle telecoms sockets and leave all your phones unplugged - then failing to call back despite heartfelt assurances that they would.

On demanding a MAC code, you will be deluged with extraordinary offers - e.g. free unlimited broadband for a year - but don't weaken. This is a terrible company. (Any wonder with all that Murdoch involvement?)

So I'm off to BT. But not very optimistically now that I've read some reports on here. Are there any halfway-decent providers - ones who simply deliver what they promise, say?

Very reliable and constant speed of 12 m/bits. Only had one issue where broadband kept dropping out. Call centre answered promptly and they did all the checks and confirmed there was an issue. Engineer turned up the next day and was found to be a cabinet wiring issue.

Sold a Sky TV and broadband package - told the property was listed as 'Sky-ready' and that there would be no problem switching from current provider. I could even try it for a period of time and cancel with no issues as there is a 'cooling off period'... wait for it...
Sky engineer arrived for install and said it wasn't possible to run the service from the property. Cancelled subscription the same week. Cancellation letter confirmed cancellation.
Now I've been charged for a service I'm not using and trying to get a refund for being falsely sold to. Been on phone 53 minutes to customer service and it's still not resolved and I've now been told to call back in a week due to their 'system being able to process the information'.
They are saying I need to pay for a month for a service I've not even had!!
    AVOID. Seriously - avoid.

Just the fact that in my 24 years of existence this is the first review I have given should speak volume. Getting sky as your internet provider is a life sentence. Worst provider ever. I feel like I’m back in 2005 when my internet is so slow I can’t even load my Netflix.

Awful. We have a full-fibre connection but made the mistake of using sky for this. regular drop outs (caused by either back-end issues or the terrible sky router which crashes regularly). Sky could not solve the issue and indeed denied that they happened. We swapped to Bt on EXACTLY teh same line and it's now totally stable without any issues. BT customer service is also a LOT better having UK-based staff in Newcastle that you can actually talk to.

I have been with Sky for broadband and now fibre for a couple of years And apart from offers I can say it's not that good. I switched to Fibre as the broadband was very slow when it decided it wanted to work, not sure if that was a sales ploy by Sky to get me on fibre. Anyway I was looking around to leave Sky but was offered free line rental for twelve months so signed up again. Overall Fibre is fantastic, I have several problems most of which have been blamed on my local exchange. The main problem with Sky is their hardware, the router/hub is shocking. I am now waiting for delivery of what will be my third router in less than 12 months. The one thing you cannot fault with Sky is the customer service, I can only imagine the crap they get from customers who are not getting the service.

they offered me a refund of £24 for total denyal of service 5nov2018 until 20dec when their own customer service representative had stated £8 per day compensation.they then increased their charges to negate the compensation and attempted to charge me more than 100% of what I had signed up for. AVOID SKY AT YOUR PERIL, they lie and rob you.

Had nothing but trouble with Sky broadband since they took over Febuary 2014. Never had any problem when 02 were running the service. Since Sky, the connection has been intermittent, dropping off and on throughout the day. Would NOT recommend them to anybody.

I don't usually leave reviews, but I have tried, and persevered with sky. Tried technical, tried to call, tried to e-mail but all with no success. I have seen a lot of bad reviews on here. I signed up to sky fibre with a new sky Q hub a year ago, I had nothing but slow slow, 4mbps,technical says I have 24, but independent results show 4 to a max of 8. After I tried to complained with no real access to a person. I have given up and today I have given in, cancelled and will try another.

we have been with SKY for ever the old BSKYB and then sky 30yrs+ they used to be really good but have gone down hill for a long time now to the point having just got off the phone and cancelled my account as it ends next month with an increase of £11 pounds a month also a mid term contract increase of £5pm SO A £16 POUND OVER ALL INCREASE to £46 for braodband 37mbps joke speed. So good by SKY AKA The James gang you are out of my life thank god.
