i have been told by my broadband provider that due to the distance i am from the cabinet my fibre speeds are capped at 22 mbs- so by the time it reaches me it drops to between 9 and 13 mbs. i am paying for fibre broadband and i have been told that due to the quality of my telephone line i cannot get faster speeds. is this the fault of BT as they own the lines or is this sky who are telling me they cannot get it any quicker. or is it the quality of their HUB. sky customer service is very good, but not sure if truthful when it comes to speeds.

If you enjoy playing games and wasting your time and money SKY is the company for you! I don't, so for me they are a nightmare .... I had no service for FOUR MONTHS and trying to deal with them about this was the most unbelievable experience in itself Now they are still trying to CHARGE ME for the period when I had NO SERVICE whatsoever... they say they'll credit me the odd random day or so! Sky is beyond belief and I rue the day I ever changed to them. They know exactly what they're doing - nobody but nobody is as 'stupid' as they make out - deliberate policy to exasperate customers so we give up and they keep money for nothing. Life is too short to be a SKY 'customer'

When its connected its all good, the problem is when I'm facetiming or skyping the internet goes dumb. It refuses to work while facetiming and skyping and it goes super slow. At times it stops working and requires to be reset. I love it when it works, I can stream movies and what not. Just wish it could be better at multitasking if you know what i mean?

Odd to be so dissatisfied with so many high markings, but Sky are so expensive, why shouldn't their broadband speed be good?
I am disappointed with Sky because they are massively more expensive than (say) BT Vision, and only after I had cancelled my contract did they offer a discount. In fact, before I left, they wanted me to pay £199 to replace a two year old box that had stopped working!
Not only that, but despite having two weeks left to run (two weeks I have paid for I might add) Sky have crippled my broadband speed, and disabled most of the functionality of my Sky+ box.
Nice touch Sky, especially after six years 'together'!
Au revoir.

Wish I had stayed with BT. The WiFi drops several times every single day. Rarely had these issues with my previous providers. Can't wait for my contract to end.

My ISP are without a doubt extremely customer orientated & very efficient at dealing with any shortcomings. My only complaint is with BT! In this location, it has been essential to opt for fibre optic as the landlines supporting the service are as layed in the '70s of aluminium. During pressurized times, during the holiday periods below 2Mb was not unusual, whilst when holiday traffic was at a minimum an optimum of slightly over 4Mb was achievable. The annoying factor is that it is imperative to have a fibre connection, be it to the Town Cabinet in order to achieve what some consumers would grade as pultry signal strength at an absolute maximum of 18.5Mb.

I was attracted to sky after their £16 broadband deal was advertised, which essentially offered internet just diverge cost of lime rental with £50 worth of vouchers. It was the worst mistake I made.
The company that sorted out the order (love digital) quoted the wrong terms, promising me vouchers when this was apparently only possible if you ordered online. When I repeatedly requested the vouchers they finally admitted they had made an error and sky agreed to give them to me.
My router allegedly arrived 2 days before an engineer was meant to arrive. When I rang sky to explain it hadn't arrived, I was told it must have but they'd order a new one that would arrive in 5 days. The next day my router magically materialized.
My account was meant yo be active on 23 February. Sky cancelled an engineer very late in the day. I'd already arranged to take that day off. Then my internet didn't activate. I rang sky on Monday and was told there was an error with the company open reach that finalizes the internet connections and they needed to close a ticket for the account to go live. I was told that Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Each time, I was guaranteed the internet would be available in 24 hours and each time it never happened. I'm still waiting.
When I asked to complain, I was told 'you can't' and I was asked 'why'. When I asked to speak to a manager again I was initially told no. When I asked what sky could do to resolve the situation I was told they could only keep calling the company so apparently I will not have internet potentially indefinitely and there's nothing sky (my internet provider) can do.
All in all, I'm still waiting for internet with my idea when it will arrive. My complaint has been handled poorly- I've been told I have to make a formal written complaint even though the first complaint I made was dealt with over the phone. When asked how I cancel the account, I was told I might not be able to and when I asked for compensation I was asked 'but why do you want that'.
I would definitely not recommend sky and if I dont have internet tomorrow I'm going to try to cancel the account.

Absolutely disgraceful service. I was initially with o2 and sky bought my a/c.First year charging nearly the same as o2, of £9, but less broadband speed, then in last month increased by direct debit by £1.49, without notifying me, then £15 per month??? They tell me they dont have to tell me of the increase....Thieves...!!!!

Sky messed up our activation, so we've been without broadband for the last few days. Had to wait in queue for 30 mins yesterday, 10 minutes into it they cut me off and I had redial and start again. The guy I spoke to (Stephen) admitted it was Sky's fault and promised to call me back today, but he never did. So I called them back and got through to someone in India who was quite irritating but eventually transferred me to the UK. I ended up speaking to 3 different departments, having to repeat my security details and the problem each time. Eventually Helen said there was some kind of mis-match between systems which might be the cause, but she wasn't totally sure. I was told to wait another 24 hours. I asked for a refund of my activation fee (£20) and first month's line rental (~£16). She agreed to refund the activation fee, but not the line rental! I would not recommend Sky unless you want to be stuck without broadband, and spend hours one the phone being passed from person to person in their call centre. Avoid Sky at all costs!!!

currently we have basic unlimited SKY Broadband with anytime calls around £33 a month The average download speed we are getting is around 2Mbs during busy times down to 1.38Mbs. This is appalling low speed for the price. The internet also freezes and we have to log out and in again during busy evening times.
My advice Pic a fibre optic connection for around the same price.

Hi all,
Been paying for this service for 3 years. In raininy seasons the connection become intermittent and drops out sevral times a day. Take 5 mins or so to reset the modem and router eaxh time. Not great. After 3 winters of telling them this they finally sent me a better version of thier router which seemed to fix the problem (although they still charged me for the pp £ 6)
Now with the new router only 3 out of 7 rooms can get wifi signal. But sky call this "environmental factors" which they say they can over BUT I can buy a booster for near £40 with pp.
Thanks sky :-(

Overall I'm happy with Sky, anytime I've had issues the customer service has been awesome! Some people moan about unscrewing master socket... Get over it! every company does it!
On the whole it's a stable service, occasional drop out and speed is ok. Customer service has always been brilliant and the one time I had issues it was fixed fast.

Our broadband speed has never gone above 3 mb/sec.
In fact when on dial-up years ago, the speed was better.
During peak periods, I might as well not bother.
As we on SKY CONNECT we are charged £17 per month.

Sky was ok until a few weeks ago, unless of course you had to call customer services and you didn't have half a day to spend sitting on the phone listening to their annoying music and repetitive messages. The last few weeks the broadband speed late at night has, at times been comparable to the old dial up internet. In addition to this, the broadband connection keeps dropping off after 12am (when customer services is closed) I have often had to reboot the router. It happened again tonight and I was on the phone for 35 minutes, at which point customer services was shut again. I then tried to put a new post on the community forum but could not find where the hell I was supposed to enter a new topic. Absolute shambles. DO NOT sign up to Sky. My contract is up in a few months and I will be leaving them

I'm on fibre optic but uet Ican't watch a 7 second you tube video... and at night the phone trips the house alarm and scares mhalf to death! I'm 12 and I know more aboit the product than the customer service personnel... to avoid all the issues that I have been through, pick differently!

I ordered their full TV, phone and broadband package.
The give you a 1 day slots for installation, so you have to block out a whole day.
Their engineer did text me on the morning of the installation with an estimated time that he would be at the property. The installation of their satellite dish it transpired would have required major surgery to the roof, a specialist installer and me being at the property for at least another 1 or 2 days. i would also need one of the neighbours to be there to access the roof of the building. the neighbours mostly live abroad!
the engineer then tried to set up the broadband. he plugged it in and said it would be working within 12-14 hours.
the next day, it wasn't working.
after another long wait on the phone, I was told we would another openreach socket from BT. That would mean another 2-3 weeks and booking yet another day to be at home waiting for a BT engineer. And then no guarantee that BT would be able to install the necessary cabling and socket the same day. Sky never tell you that you need a live BT openreach socket when they give you the hard sell...
So before you order, beware that you may need to use up a quarter of your annual holiday allowance....they don;t tell you that at the time they sell to you. However, I have no doubt that it is in the smallprint...

Just moved broadband to SKY after becoming increasingly unhappy with my BT service (drop - outs, slow etc.) and their average speed of around 7mbps. I found the whole process very painless and simple. I called them yesterday as I was finding the connection speed a bit erratic and a lovely man spent an hour helping me work through a few things until the problem was resolved. We now average 12.4mbps with zero drop outs so a vast improvement on BT. I've been with Sky for TV since 1990 and I've always found them to be very helpful but perhaps I've just been lucky. Anyhow,I'm happy with my broadband so far and I'm glad I left BT.

Garbage provider, i`ve had Sky for 3 days and its completely garbage.. Ping keeps spiking from 50 to 2000. Sometimes works fine, however most of the time i can barely surf internet. No chance of playing online games either cause if pings spikes. I don`t even know what im supposed to pay for..

Have been a Sky customer for 5 years, first with TV but latterly without. Have had a few grumbles with them, we had an intermittent fault on the line a year or so ago and it took them a while to track it down and fix it, so for quite a few weeks broadband would just drop out for 5 minutes or an hour for no apparent reason. It was frustrating but to be fair to them they did fix it in the end and at least they called back when they said they would etc.
Have now switched to another provider to save money and now I see what truly bad service is like I wish I had never left Sky - if I could go straight back I would, please Sky, all is forgiven, take my money, rip me off, just give me phone and internet and be polite about it, I thought in this competitive market those would be a given but actually they aren't.

Extremely Frustrating! I switched over from EE to Sky a couple of weeks ago, and already I'm looking to jump ship and use another provider! First of all EE was alright, It wasn't the fastest in the world (around 4-5 mbps) but it was very very reliable, it never failed me, so after a year with them, I decided to go to Sky - bad move! the speeds is good enough, around 12 mbps, but the signal drops several times a day and this has been EVERY DAY since I've joined! This weekend its been like every 15-20 mins which is ridiculous. For a multi-million pound company, I really do expect better!

If i could give less than 1 star I would. It has been 3 months now and it is the WORST internet connection.. Many many problems with speed , and customer service(some of them are soo rude). Today in a span of 20 minutes the router reset itself 4 times!!! This is unacceptable. Definately changing broadband this time.

Avoid this company like the plague.
They pretty much charged me for a service I didn't receive and when I questioned them for a refund they told me that it was "tough luck".
It's come to light that Sky reel you in with good offers then try to rob you in any way they can once they have you.
I am fighting a loosing battle with stubborn employees refusing to help me.
I hope when Murdoch buys his pies with my money he doesn't choke. - Don't trust Sky.

I was very happy with O2 for almost 10 years. I happened to be with Sky when they took over O2, unfortunately. Ever since I face issues with speed, often I have no internet at all. It is so bad that sky representative actually told me to ask for refund in writing. I have no time to complain and listen to their excuses. I pay for internet so it needs to work. I am leaving Sky.
DON'T SIGN UP TO SKY!! YOU'LL REGRET IT.

Worst service ever
I signed up for Sky broadband over a year ago and they offered free sky TV at the time. Although i explained that I didn't think I would use the service I was told that they wouldn't charge me for the TV service without informing me beforehand.
12 months later I started to be charged so i decided to cancel my TV and broadband and move to another subscriber.
My broadband was cancelled and moved but they continued to charge me for Sky TV, which I was not using and they admit that I did request the cancellation by email, for 6 months. They have now agreed to stop charging me but will not refund for the 6 months they have already charged me since cancellation.
I've made multiple complaints and they refuse to acknowledge they have done anything wrong, apparently they only accept cancellations over the telephone and you cannot cancel by email or whilst logged into your account (even though there is the provision to cancel your account online they do not accept this as a request for cancellation).
I am truly appalled by the service and the responses I have received. Their staff lack basic knowledge of consumer law. I will never return to this company and have advised all my friends and family to beware of them in future.

When first joining sky customer service appeared fine and the quality products were ok...although broadband has always been slow even though bt confirmed we should be getting very fast broadband. Recently we have had appalling customer service and have been spoken to rudely on the phone. As we are stuck in a contract we will stick it out till the end then will definitely be taking our custom somewhere else. Do not recommend.

We joined up to sky around 2 weeks ago it is our first property and we looking forward to the whole experience.
We paid £10 fee for the box and set up and then £20 for set up and box of broadband and phone. We have now been informed no engineer will arrive to set broadband up or phone and we have paid for this. Absolutely appalling.
Also we have been trying to change our payment direct debit date for a week now and they said we can not do this until the 1st of the month.
I can not believe this every other company has allowed us to do this.
The service when you call is appalling when you can actually understand the person.
Shame we could not get Virgin in our area or we would have by fair.
Sky are useless only bothered about taking your money!!!!

Terrible provider, always slow, get about 6mbps and most of the time this will drop... Sky box crashes all the time, slow at downloading HD. The only compliment I will give sky is that they rarely ever go down, so in some respect they are reliable if you like browsing at low speeds, all the time. The interface for sky tv is pretty good and easy to use but I spend more time on the internet therefore I dislike it majorly.
Customer service says stuff will happen and nothing ever does.
