I'm sorry if readers are looking for a review on the reliability and speed of the broadband itself. I never got that far. I spent 4 months for the most part without working internet while they were trying to get Fibre Broadband installed in my flat. They kept saying they could provide the service to me, while over the 4 month period I had 5 separate engineers tell me they couldn't find my signal. Before each time an engineer arrived, Sky would tell me the problem was fixed. The only reason I had a landline with Sky was so I could use their broadband. My bills were only for calls to their customer service. Also I had taken time off work so that engineers could come to my property. As my Sky account history got more and more complex, I would spend 10 minutes waiting for the customer service assistant on the other end of the line to read up on my notes. I need broadband for freelance work. I had to travel to other places to get it. Sky promised again and again that it would work on the next install attempt. They wouldn't give me any compensation. Furthermore they decided to delete my account and start over because my account history was getting too complex. Because of this they now won't recognise how long and frustrating this process has been. At the end of the 4 month period I told them that I still didn't have a working connection. That was the last contact I had with them for a year. At which point I realised that they had been charging me for the broadband service for that year. I contacted them and they refuse a full refund, telling me that I am partly responsible for not telling them sooner that they were wrongfully charging me, despite the fact that I had told them in advance of the charges that their last install attempt failed. I don't see why any business should have the right to start charging a customer for service after the customer tells them they're not receiving service. I thought it was bad enough that I wasn't getting any compensation for the stress, 4 months of traveling to use broadband, and taking time off work to let engineers in. Now they won't give me a full refund for the money they took from me.

Just an utterly incompetent and immoral company. It was the worst experience I've ever had dealing with a group of human beings in my life.

The WORST broadband I can imagine.
Your router tells you one thing (namely the speeds they promise you), but speedtest after speedtest show that you don't get those speed.

I actually need to go away and make a cup of tea so I can watch a 2 minute video on youtube.

    Stay away.

Cancelled sky, due to bad internet services. Had engineer out on 3-4 occasions to sort internet going down all the time. Had the same old response everything should be working fine now then they go and it stops working again. Moved to BT infinity brilliant internet no issues.
Sky have charged me after cancellation with the eating letter all because BT didn't take over the line properly. Sky said its BT fault but you need to pay the outstanding balance to close account. What an absolute joke. I wouldn't recommend sky to my worst enemy.

The worst provider of broadband I have ever come across. Just about the bottom of the pit. My broadband signal kept disconnecting and disrupting my work on the computer internet. Tried phoning them. Answerphone related message " No service afyer midnights " This went on for 7 nights on the trot. I tried phoning during day and could not get through to customer services until the 6th day. Half way through I was hung up on. Kept ringing several days after " nO CONNECTION MADE WITH STAFF. Then I phoned to cancel. They could not answer quick enough. Pleading with me what they could do to put matters right. But the problems had occurred time and time again over several months, and so I cancelled my contract.
The next thing was phone calls on my mobile wanting to speak to me and ask me to remain a sky customer. I said 'no'. After this, they started sending me childish emails on a 'no reply' basis. They continued pestering me by email. The result was I was obliged to report their emails as spam to Google.
Never again will I join SKY. Once they have sold you the contract...that is it. They are no longer interested in you as a customer.

TAKE NOTE FOR YOUR OWN SAKE KEEP WELL CLEAR OF SKY.
The SKY Broadband Service has become widely known as the SKY TORTOISE SERVICE. It truly is pathetically slow.
TRY PHONING THEM UP WITH A PROBLEM - Press Button 'this and that' Result - No reply, no reply, no reply ! Call between such and such a time....Our lines are busy at the moment, please call back...Our lines are closed after midnight...all excuses under the sun not to answer you.
DIAL AND PRESS BUTTON for cancellation Result - " Hello SKY, how can we help you.. Sorry to hear that you want to cancel,is there anything we can do to put it right ?" You reply - No this is not the first time, the problem is occurring every day. I am constantly being disconnected via the pathetic so called new router {CRAP}. HA, IT HAS GOT TO BE A FAULT WITH YOUR WIRING CONNECTIONS.
" No, all has been checked out by a qualified engineer. The problem is SKY end .
TIME AFTER TIME AFTER TIME the same thing; can't get through to SKY to report a problem. HOWEVER, they speedily answer if you choose the button to cancel your subscription, and they talk to you ever so nice.
WARNING: Don't bother talking to their SKY CALL CENTRE at night time, they are a waste of time and space. You will get very little help if any. Their quality of clear spoken English is abysmal and they are difficult to understand.
WHEN YOU ARE ADAMENT THAT YOU WISH TO CANCEL, AND GIVE THEM NOTICE....Further troubles start with your broadband service. They slow up your broadband speed and disrupt your service even more...day after day after day. They do all the can to make you wish you had never cancelled. That is the attitude of these cretins, unfortunately. NEVERTHELESS, STICK IT OUT, AS THE SOONER THE BETTER THAT YOU CHANGE PROVIDERS FROM SKY TO ANOTHER BROADBAND PROVIDER. Better still, STAY CLEAR of this TORTOISE company, and choose another provider. Look at the ratings of each provider, and their reviews, and decide how much you are prepared to pay also. But BEWARE OF SKY, this abysmal bottom of the pit provider, or it will be you who will be the loser at the end of the day. Following this review, I shall no doubt have further deliberate disruptions. This review is not sour grapes, but merely an honest and truthful account of the service they provide to their Customers. There are many more providers out their who will be glad of your custom and are prepared to offer you a better service. Don't think about it....simply do it.

It's been a nightmare with internet since I moved into the flat. I firstly thought maybe my roommates were downloading too much, I disable the Wifi and did a test: same results.
Over 400ms ping, a miserable download speed, ...
    Avoid to go to Sky.

Watchdog should investigate this diabolical company. I had O2 broadband for 3 years and didn't have a single problem. They were then bought by Sky and I didn't have the time to source another provider. Massive fail!!
At least twice a month I waste an evening on the phone to their technical 'robots' trying to solve the issue that's clearly at their end. My wireless works intermittently at the best of times but since the bank holiday weekend it's been practically non existent.
Thank god my contract ends at the end of the month and I no longer have to pay for this total sham of a service.
    Disgraceful and deeply frustrating!!!
    Steer clear at all costs!!!

Awful customer service, rude arrogant. Consistent lies, I know about IT and network speeds as I work in the IT industry myself. When reporting issues with speed I was told it is our problem deal with it. complete refusal to do anything, so at the moment we are paying £45 a month for half the speed we should be getting. Soon as contract is up, we will be leaving for another provider. Shockingly bad!!!

Sky Internet is literally the worst provider ever. We have been disconnected from our broadband six times this week, their customer support sounds like you're talking to robots and here's the worst part:

I was promised a 55Mbps connection, and I've got the speed of like 500Kb/s even on Ethernet. There's nothing wrong with my computer or my router's position, it's the complete company of idiocy known well as Sky. And the bills are totally shocking!

I like Sky TV but it's a no go for their broadband. Even AOL back in the 90's was better than this complete and utter rubbish.

EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. They have this rule book which is made to check mate customer and not really to help. Customer service chat is ALWAYS BUSY. the department should be renamed as CUSTOMER HARASSMENT department. INstalling dish is thr problem, but removing is yours, obviously thats a additional cost to you, but then HEY its CUSTOMERS PROBLEM.

BIG TIME DISPPOITMENT-IF ANYONE WATCHING, NEVER EVER GO FOR THIS SKY TV.

If you are here because you are considering moving to Sky, we'll done for remembering to check the reviews first because you've just saved yourself a lot of time mainly, but money, despair, frustration and even relationship problems as you would have had to spend at least 3 hours per week on the phone to the incredulously pathetic team of customer service agents, who are highly trained experts in the field of passing-the-buck and lying mostly. I've had intermittent broadband since day one, which is more often OFF than ON and my 2 increasingly frustrated teenagers let me know each time it goes off! We're averaging 10 times a day! Hours spent repeatedly carrying out their futile tests! On the upside, I can now remove a faceplate from a phone socket ....with my eyes shut! Seriously, their prices aren't the best, don't be fooled into thinking you'll get good service because it's a massive global company! Oh no! They may as well be a 2-bit outfit in one of the end shops of Scunthorpe's high street! Sky is proof that there are exceptions to the old adage "you get what you pay for!" Again, well done for doing your homework before joining them, I wish I had! I have 2 months left on my contract but I am paying another provider for my services, seeing as Sky can't! Run for the hills.....GO! (Do you like what I did there?)

I was a sky tv and broadband customer for 4 years and I have just cancelled the broadband. The broadband is slow and unstable, the box is absolute crap. I wanted to switch to fibre optic and called sky up to see what they could do. At first I was told that there was a fault on my line which was causing slow objection speed. Open reach checked it and said that there was no fault. I called up again, as there was no fixable reason for the slow broadband. So I was offered fibre optic, each time I called the operators had problem activating the offer so each time I told them I wanted to cancel. I was offered fibreoptic 3 times before eventually being told it wasn't even available in my area. So I cancelled (again). A couple of days before my broadband was due to cancel, I had a change of heart and decided (god knows why) to give sky another change. I called up, was offered quite a good deal and decided to reinstate the broadband and was told tgat it would be fully working in 2 days. Only for them to cancel it anyway 2 days later. I called again, nobody had activated the new offer. Angry at this I asked how long it would take to reinstate, I was told 1 to 3 weeks. Which us too long for anyone to wait. So I called talk talk, who promised the broadband will be working in 1 week.
I feel that sky need to treat customers better, I had been with them for 4 years and have never experienced such bad customer service. Barely any of their advisors know what they are doing, I also spoke to a manager who had no compensation to offer for tgeir mess up or the countless times I have called to be told different things from different people.

Sky are by far the worst I have ever dealt with. I usually don't write reviews but this company were exceptionally bad so I felt I had the need to.
I set up a date with Sky to install my internet, I waited 2 weeks and took the day off work only for them to not show up. I was proactive enough to call them several times before the installation date to confirm they were still coming and each time they said yes. Either they have a terrible system in place or they have very incompetent workers. An hour after they were supposed to arrive I spent 1 hour on the phone only to be told an engineer was never supposed to come out. Taking into account the money I lost from not going into work plus the many phone calls i made to them, I made a very big loss indeed. I decided to go with Talk Talk who have given me a detailed description of when they plan to arrive and what date my router will be here. I will never again go to Sky and I will never recommend this company to anybody.

Sky, I could sit here for hours writing about how bad they are, unreliable, awful customer service and they lie about your broadband speed to take advantage of technological illiterate customers.
The worst one though, they charged you money for not having services with them. So if you had phone and tv, they would charge you extra for not having broadband with them. I'm not certain if they have stopped this now, but this company is more like a hell on earth than the heaven they portray in their adverts.

The broadband service is absolutely atrocious! Been with sky since December and was made aware that within the first 10 days of connection that speeds may vary and the connection may be unstable. It is now March and things haven't improved if anything it's worse! My connection keeps dropping on all the devices and I spent the past week not being able to connect to the Internet at all. Now I'm being told that the problem may be environmental and it is probably something in my home that is interfering with the WIFI signal! I've never heard anything so ridiculous. I never had any of these problems with BT! I am one very unhappy and very dissatisfied customer.

Diabolical customer service. Correspondence lost, ignored... takes you ages to even speak with someone. Arrogant, rude and frankly ignorant staff... dealing with anyone from SKY is like wading through treacle. I never even had a contract with them, never used their services at all. They threaten me with legal action for non payment of Broadband I have NEVER had or used! Explain it to them and they constantly repeat their script back at you. I was an O2 customer, but switched to PlusNet when they changed over to SKY, based on all the negative comments I read about SKY. Seems people are right. Anyway, debt collectors (owned by SKY) then started to mail me, the call me. I told them to take me to court if they had the balls. Never heard from them again after that! AVOID SKY at all costs!!!

Sky broadband is totally appalling. The latest saga in the never ending problems with our broadband is intermittent connection dropping off -if lucky 2 times an hour, if not every 5-15 minutes - it's fustrating beyond belief.

Their customer services are completely unhelpful too. I've just spent an hour and a half listening to scripted rubbish. And my internet still isn't working. Which is a shame because when it is working (not as often as it should!) it give pretty fast speeds. But that fact is futile if you can't get any service in the first place!

The TV is good, but after being with sky for 10 years+ now, switching the Internet was the worse thing I've every done. We are self employed here and the Internet is utterly vital to us getting anything done. Am DEFINATELY cancelling and looking elsewhere.

Wouldn't recommend Sky Broadband to my worse enemy.

Sky is honestly a terrible company to go with, not only are they slow at everything they attempt to achieve or any query you have, but they also don't honor their warranty. I was sold a Sky+HD box, pay an awful lot for phone, TV and broadband, the box broke in less than a year (still well within my warranty) and they won't book the free engineer to fix it. Clearly the product is unfit for purpose and they are trying to charge me £65 for an engineer. Absolute joke!!

Sky should be put on watchdog for the nightmare they put you through. Been with them for a year now, after switching from my partner's account to mine in order to get a 'new customer' discount. Little did we know this move would cost us 3 weeks of no broadband and no phone whilst waiting for a new phone line which by the way, was already in the flat. What makes this worse is that we were advised to go down this route by a sky salesman in Bury! Fast forward to January this year, a time until which our broadband was mediocre at best. Websites loading in over 10 seconds and just stodgy speed was the norm. So, mid-January everything turned for the worse. Broadband stopped working and the phone line kept cutting out. We are in March now and 3 engineer visits later, still no happier. Last time I phoned up and asked for an engineer for the umpteenth time, they said they couldn't send anybody out until a long-standing line test was done. I insisted I had had engineers in the past few weeks without that test so I couldn't see the obstacles in them dispatching somebody out again. No avail. Kept fobbing me off with their courses of action and other nonsense. My internet is cutting out every minute and i lose phone conversations mid-way because the line goes dead. As soon as my contract is up, I'm out of this disastrous contract, needless to say.

i have been told by my broadband provider that due to the distance i am from the cabinet my fibre speeds are capped at 22 mbs- so by the time it reaches me it drops to between 9 and 13 mbs. i am paying for fibre broadband and i have been told that due to the quality of my telephone line i cannot get faster speeds. is this the fault of BT as they own the lines or is this sky who are telling me they cannot get it any quicker. or is it the quality of their HUB. sky customer service is very good, but not sure if truthful when it comes to speeds.

If you enjoy playing games and wasting your time and money SKY is the company for you! I don't, so for me they are a nightmare .... I had no service for FOUR MONTHS and trying to deal with them about this was the most unbelievable experience in itself Now they are still trying to CHARGE ME for the period when I had NO SERVICE whatsoever... they say they'll credit me the odd random day or so! Sky is beyond belief and I rue the day I ever changed to them. They know exactly what they're doing - nobody but nobody is as 'stupid' as they make out - deliberate policy to exasperate customers so we give up and they keep money for nothing. Life is too short to be a SKY 'customer'

When its connected its all good, the problem is when I'm facetiming or skyping the internet goes dumb. It refuses to work while facetiming and skyping and it goes super slow. At times it stops working and requires to be reset. I love it when it works, I can stream movies and what not. Just wish it could be better at multitasking if you know what i mean?

Odd to be so dissatisfied with so many high markings, but Sky are so expensive, why shouldn't their broadband speed be good?

I am disappointed with Sky because they are massively more expensive than (say) BT Vision, and only after I had cancelled my contract did they offer a discount. In fact, before I left, they wanted me to pay £199 to replace a two year old box that had stopped working!

Not only that, but despite having two weeks left to run (two weeks I have paid for I might add) Sky have crippled my broadband speed, and disabled most of the functionality of my Sky+ box.

Nice touch Sky, especially after six years 'together'!

    Au revoir.

Wish I had stayed with BT. The WiFi drops several times every single day. Rarely had these issues with my previous providers. Can't wait for my contract to end.

My ISP are without a doubt extremely customer orientated & very efficient at dealing with any shortcomings. My only complaint is with BT! In this location, it has been essential to opt for fibre optic as the landlines supporting the service are as layed in the '70s of aluminium. During pressurized times, during the holiday periods below 2Mb was not unusual, whilst when holiday traffic was at a minimum an optimum of slightly over 4Mb was achievable. The annoying factor is that it is imperative to have a fibre connection, be it to the Town Cabinet in order to achieve what some consumers would grade as pultry signal strength at an absolute maximum of 18.5Mb.

I was attracted to sky after their £16 broadband deal was advertised, which essentially offered internet just diverge cost of lime rental with £50 worth of vouchers. It was the worst mistake I made.

The company that sorted out the order (love digital) quoted the wrong terms, promising me vouchers when this was apparently only possible if you ordered online. When I repeatedly requested the vouchers they finally admitted they had made an error and sky agreed to give them to me.

My router allegedly arrived 2 days before an engineer was meant to arrive. When I rang sky to explain it hadn't arrived, I was told it must have but they'd order a new one that would arrive in 5 days. The next day my router magically materialized.

My account was meant yo be active on 23 February. Sky cancelled an engineer very late in the day. I'd already arranged to take that day off. Then my internet didn't activate. I rang sky on Monday and was told there was an error with the company open reach that finalizes the internet connections and they needed to close a ticket for the account to go live. I was told that Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Each time, I was guaranteed the internet would be available in 24 hours and each time it never happened. I'm still waiting.

When I asked to complain, I was told 'you can't' and I was asked 'why'. When I asked to speak to a manager again I was initially told no. When I asked what sky could do to resolve the situation I was told they could only keep calling the company so apparently I will not have internet potentially indefinitely and there's nothing sky (my internet provider) can do.

All in all, I'm still waiting for internet with my idea when it will arrive. My complaint has been handled poorly- I've been told I have to make a formal written complaint even though the first complaint I made was dealt with over the phone. When asked how I cancel the account, I was told I might not be able to and when I asked for compensation I was asked 'but why do you want that'.

I would definitely not recommend sky and if I dont have internet tomorrow I'm going to try to cancel the account.

Absolutely disgraceful service. I was initially with o2 and sky bought my a/c.First year charging nearly the same as o2, of £9, but less broadband speed, then in last month increased by direct debit by £1.49, without notifying me, then £15 per month??? They tell me they dont have to tell me of the increase....Thieves...!!!!
