I'm so angry for myself for not doing proper research before getting a broadband. The TalkTalk is absolutely terrible company.
Waited really long time for their engineers to come and for the first appointment nobody appeared, so i took a day off a work for nothing, then i had to set a new appointment and wait another month for them to come, second time they finally appeared, and even though the internet speed is absolutely slow, mostly not even 2Mbps, i thought that everything is ok, finally i had at least the internet. for the first month i was charged normally, second month i was charged over 80 pounds !!! and guess for what! for the missed appointment. even though i wrote them right away that day, that the engineer hasn't come, and they wrote back, that they are sorry and the engineer was near the property and the property looked like no one was in. ?!!! why to buzz right? just look at the windows and if there are no curtains go home... well that's their perfect service! not even that cheap if they will fine you for their own mistakes.

Never have I been treated like such scum in my life! DO NOT USE. LIARS, CON ARTISTS DAYLIGHT ROBBERY!
Signed up to broadband, no problems. Got my youview box, speed a little slow but I am end of the line so accepted this. Still worked and things were fine. Contract is drawing to a close, I say I want to leave and go to BT fibre, they convince me to stay. Offer to match BT price and give an extra discount and a new box. We are convinced. Suddenly we have no internet and when I call them they say 'your a fibre customer now' but I haven't had the fibre router yet and why not... Cos I only agreed to the contract 45 minutes ago! They say I upgraded. I say I opted to open a new contract t end of original.
Anyway, 1 month on and still no you view box as random charges on my account.... They are refusing to give me the box as I had one on my precious contract! They have added numerous engineer charges for installing my fibre modem (which I don't need) and someone coming to fix the line.... How is that my fault? Plus they changed tr appointment twice but charged me both!!
I am pregnant and after my most recent call I felt so ill and weak I actually attended my maternity day centre for monitoring as my blood pressure was so high from all the BULLS@%T you ensure on the phone to INDIA!! I am london, I don't want to speak to someone in India who assures me my line is fine cos his computer says so but the man standing in my front garden looking at the green box is showing me the part that is wrongly connected!!
Just the WORST I have ever encountered! I can't wait to leave them. I would happily pay 3times the money to a company worth dealing with instead of these robbing bar stewards!

Total disaster!
Signed up for a broadband service - never got connected, but now cannot cancel it either (already called them, wrote an e-mail, tried the online chat), still keep receiving emails and letters via post that they are working hard to get me connected.
Nothing works at Talktalk!!!

Terrible broadband and terrible customer service. Broadband cut outs all the time, and when I came to cancel i was given incorrect information and had to ring 3 times to get it cancelled. Appalling service all round. Do not be tempted by cheap deals!

The worst service provided ever!
Problems started right at the begining with engineer not coming, then receiving a call of a customer support member who couldn't speak english at all. Slowliest speed ever, getting disconected often...
Customer support is soooo poor, no one can speak english, no one actually helps, basically treating their customers like a trash. To sign months contract is much worse than getting a contract with demon!
The only good thing - router delivered in time and in nice package... but router itself is problematic, having problems with giving unused ip addresses.... i just still wonder how these guys were able to get more than 1 and a half star, as the company doesn't deserve more than one star for sure.
It's not even that cheap, if i would have another choice to choose, i would rather paid like 5pounds more and getting much better broadband than the one from talk talk.
I'm just counting days till the contract end, as i want to flee from them right away! If you haven't signed the contract yet, DON'T do the biggest mistake in your life as there is really high probability that you will regret a tons after!

Not really sure what I am paying for with Talk Talk except for high blood pressure and a little black box that plugs into my wall. After 3 hours of phone calls over 2 weeks I still have no broadband. Whenever I call to complain I am told to "wait 72 hours and call again". Not sure why I have given them one star for broadband as I don't have any! I tried cancelling my contract as they seem to be unable to provide me with anything and they said that will be £230. I am struggling to decide whether to carry on paying for a service I am not receiving or whether to pay their ridiculous fees for cancelling the contract. Seriously, do not sign up to Talk Talk.

WARNING
Absolutley awful!!!
Broadband speeds of 0.1mbps!
I've been with Talktalk for almost a year and have been reporting problems ever since I joined.
4 times they sent out an engineer to locate the problem but not fix it and then closed my case with an email to tell me the problem was sorted.
5 times I've not been able to get to anyone on the phone and the automated system has cut me off whilst trying to follow up my problem.
I was told people would call me and never did.
And I've just been informed I can't get compensation because I havent called up enough within the same month to complain about this problem, after they told me to give them 30 days to fix it and cut me off even when I did try to call back. I'm tied into a 2 year contract.
DO NOT USE.

Worst customer service, I just came back to talk talk from sky, I left due to customer service and it's worse.
I say back to talk talk, still waiting to be connected after taking the day off yesterday for the engineer, I was assured my number would be active by 5 and internet by midnight, 4 calls later I may or may not be connected by Wednesday.
The customer service people are so scripted and cannot read tone in voice and respond according, they get annoyed when you are upset and saying what problems you are having, they never offer to call you back.
I think I am going to cancel it all if it's not working by tonight, and as my t.v box has not arrived I am totally cancelling that if it's not working correctley by tonight. I can't deal with customer service again if I have problems with that too.
And rembering last time I had a fault with the t.v I spoke to the technical people who gave me things to try , none of them worked so they could send someone, but if there was no fault found I had to pay £50? So the technical help could not help me at all, and they want to charge me £50 if an engineer could fix what the technical help can't fix.

Shocking service when you try to cancel with Talk Talk at the end of contract. First they don't offer a good deal when you give them the opportunity then they don't act on the original cancellation despite you saying the contract will end anyway. When you receive another bill for the next month and call them again to confirm that they have actually acted on previous instructions they then offer you a so called better deal - not!! You then have to be transferred to cancellations who then say it will take another 7 days and you have to listen to a long script read out by the operator of the T's and C's - but they try again to offer you a better deal!! Too late - you had the opportunity weeks ago when I first made it known that I want to cancel!! Only for Talk Talk to phone again days later saying that they don't to lose a customer and proceed to offer you yet another good deal!! Talk Talk - if you want to keep your customers you need to offer the deal at the time of the original cancellation and not keep trying to shut the stable door after the horse has bolted!! Offer a decent deal at the start and we can avoid all the aggravation of customer service operator spouting stuff off a script and then having to repeat ourselves on subsequent calls and having to endure further harrassing calls offering so called better deals. No wonder Talk Talk has a bad reputation!!

I endeded my contract when I left York in November - I gave TT plenty of warning by phone and email. They did not acknowledge these. I keep getting demmands for rental payments. I emailed TT several times - THEY NEVER RESPOND EXCEPT TO SEND ANOTHER BILL. I am in despair as they refuse to answer any of my emails. Is my credit rating being damaged?

Our phone gave up again, it's always the on-street boxes with crumbling wiring. It took 3 hours of online chat, my husband running out of phone credit after 19 minutes of not being answered and using the neighbours' TT phone, which the robot said wasn't a TT phone. Lots of emails to Dido Harding, assurances something being done for the next two days, then a call from CEO's office from a Steven Macphail - appropriate name - who insisted the fault was in the house, despite my husband explaining why it couldn't be. Engineer called today and, hey presto, it's an external fault. Email from Macphail to say he'd had the report and it was a faulty router, which had been replaced!!!!! What? Had to call engineer who couldn't believe it - we heard him call the diagnosis in - so he had to call them again. I've sent lots of emails, asked for compensation and assurance that in future, the calls will be escalated immediately because it's always the BT wiring in one or other of the boxes. There have been 20 emails on this so far, I've set up a folder for them all. The online chat people - 6, because I kept getting kicked off - kept telling me to call a certain number; to which I replied 'how, I have no phone?' We are retired and rely on the home phone, I'm also disabled, which they know. What a useless shower they are.

The most appalling service I have ever received in my life, three insulation dates, and fees and still no service. No refund and transferred from one department to another for in Over two hours. With no resolution in sight, refused to cancel my order without a cancelation fee, despite the fact that they have never dispatched equipment or turned on their services! Disgraceful and repeating 'we understand, put we need to retake this money to be able to provide a new connection date' was the only solution offered, as once they took more monies they can refund previously taken monies.

Avoid absolutely disgusting company who just want to take your cash and don't care whatsoever. I terminated my contract due to the 3 times they've been hacked I didn't feel my data was safe and talk talk were in breach of their contract they are now trying to charge me termination fees despite the company saying people could transfer and on top of all of that I took a tv box with them in 2014 this never worked on my tv so I cancelled it and was told sometimes the boxes aren't compatible with certain TVs the adviser told me to bin it however I didn't and 2 years later talk talk are now trying to charge me £75 because I didn't return the box which I have never used now won't take it back I've taken my issues to the ombudsman this is very stressful but talk talk just don't care demanding money I'm with talk time now and have no concerns or issues whatsoever my bill just comes out by direct debit every month and the signal is perfect unlike talk talk please don't fall foul to them a disgusting money grabbing company

Connection keeps dropping out, only able to communicate with customer service via texts (at your own expense)and often have to wait 30min for a reply so it takes many days and rpt need to verify who you are to speak to anyone. I've spent 2 months of communications and they continue to repeat questions and are no further to a solution

I signed up with TalkTalk as Virgin couldn't provide broadband at the new flat. It was supposed to go live on 7 August but when I tried to use the internet, it became clear it wasn't working. I called customer service, but despite spending over half an hour on the phone with them, the issue wasn't resolved. She said she'd need to book a BT engineer and one could come Wednesday. I said that was fine, provided it was after 5pm as I had to go to work as I couldn't work from home due to lack of broadband. She said she'd book a PM slot and the engineer would call on the day to confirm the exact time. I stressed to her it would need to be after 5pm so I was surprised when I got a call on the Wednesday at 12.45pm from the engineer saying he'd be there at 1pm. I told him I wouldn't be at home and I'd requested for after 5pm. He said BT engineers don't work after 5pm so TalkTalk shouldn't have agreed to that. I was then sent a text message saying they were working on the issue and they didn't need access. Following this, I complained to the CEO and eventually managed to speak to someone on the Thursday and she also told me access wasn't needed at this stage but if it was, when would I be available. I told her Saturday and after 5pm. She said that wouldn't be possible and I'd need to take time off work. I told her that if I were to use my holiday entitlement on something that wasn't my fault, to fix something that should have been working from day one and that was most definitely not a holiday, I would want compensation because the holiday has a monetary value. She refused that. Later that afternoon I then got a call from someone saying they needed to book an appointment with an engineer, so I asked her to reconfirm with the previous person because they'd given my inaccurate information before and they'd told me access wasn't needed. I cannot rate speed or reliability as I don't have broadband and still waiting to find out whether access is needed or not and when broadband will be up and running.
This is by far the worst service I've ever had from a utility provider so stay well clear.

So wish I'd read these reviews before choosing Talk Talk to provide my broadband. A truly terrible experience which caused me, as a 71 year old with poor vision, distress to the point of illness. Speed so slow it didn't register at all.
Early exit fee bill arrived in a matter of hours - not applicable as I am within the cooling off period.
Would give zero scores if permitted.

Absolutely appalling. Broadband speed slow and sporadic. Most of the time not there at all. We ended up using up all our mobile phone data to undertake the tasks we would have have done using our home internet. No resolution to problems following complaint then to add insult to injury bombarded us with phone calls and emails when we decided to go elsewhere. Final straw they’ve sent a bill with a credit on and you have to claim this yourself rather than them crediting to your account.
Avoid this company like the plague.

I've been with talktalk for many years and have now given up. I do not have the time or energy to switch providers but enough is enough. The customer service is awful to say the least, the staff are so rude and are unable to speak English properly !
They are not good value for money and over charge on many things. I started by paying £15 a month and now pay £35, wouldn't mind if the internet was fast but it is appallingly slow !
Cannot wait till May when my contract finishes, I will be moving to a different and better provider.
Good riddance to a bad company ! TalkTalk is the worst company ever !

When talk talk first entered the market, I joined,as their price was cheap, but that time they left me with no phone line for 3 months, and kept telling me the fault was my end, the fault was in fact in the outside cable! They put new cabbleing, said they would remove the old one but never did.
As I was caring for a disabled child and needed a operational phone line, and was paying for a phone line I could not use in a emergency, I suffered so much stress, which was not helped by poor almost impossible to get hold of customer service, it took hours and a visit to the shop associated with the company to use their internal phone, for more hours. as I'd payed £40 allready and got nowhere, and ran out of money! Then they sent a engineer whilst I was miles away in said shop and said I was the problem, I had to drag my disabled child to a shop and sit there for hours, administering medication, and was not able to return home quick enough. I did receive my money back about a year or so after I got out of my contract early and having to pay for that privilege!!!!!
Jump upto now I was searching for a cheaper broadband deal 9 months ago, I was under the impression that all the time that has passed improvements would have been made, so I took out a new contract, initially i was not provided with the voucher incentive and had to chase that! Then they changed the package I had within 6 months, billed me irregurly put data package on my bill, but it then took four hours, talking with their chat and being on hold for a hour only to be cut off by their end, and after I spoke to four people, none off them could understand my bill, even when I asked to speak to a manager, it appears they did not charge me fully one month, then added the underpayment
onto the next, how do you manage a budget like that!
Years ago I said never again, and I should have never taken out a new contract, their customer service needs a vast amount of improvement, and after all the time that has passed since I was last with them, I don't hold out any hope of ever seeing this happen!

These are the most poorest disgusting internet service providers! Speeds so slow a snail would be faster..line drops..you will have to constantly disconnect & reconnect. Now for the customer services..hahaha what a joke...they try to fob you off stating there is a problem with your phone & not with the broadband! They send engineers to 'fix' this which as they say will soon improve your speeds! Customer services think this will pacify you..which of course it doesn't. The bills you receive ate never right unexplained charges appear! We have now cancelled the service after only 3 months...and do not have any early exist fees to pay..the way to do this is stand your ground with them argue & keep on at them...

I couldn't even make it as a new customer with TalkTalk! I tried twice, but both times (having provided all the information they required and setting up a new Direct Debit, they cancelled on me, sending me an email saying please call to ensure completion of cancellation (which I did not instigate). None of the automatic menus on offer allowed me to do what I needed to do, then the person I spoke to was rude and said that calling was not what the email said (specific wording was "We're sorry that you've decided to cancel your order. Please call us on 0345 172 0088* to ensure your cancellation is completed.").
I will NEVER contemplate TalkTalk again, and will advise ANYONE who asks to walk away from them

So this is THE worst broadband provider I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Broadband package i purchased was apparently "super fast" well that is not the case should of be labelled "super slow". Contacting their customer services department is like talking to a five year old child. A conversation that should take five minutes lasts 40 to 50 minutes! Then the problem still isnt resolved. Its just going round and round in circles. I'm honestly amazed that this company is still open. I advise anyone thinking of going with TalkTalk to pay the extra few pounds a month and go with a reputable company it will save you the headache of no existent broadband and the worst customer services interactions ive ever had!. AVOID.
