Think of dial up in the late 1990's then reduce that speed ten times. That's roughly talktalk's fibre speed. Words cannot describe how dreadful talktalk are. The only positive thing to come out of this was the giggles we've had reading the reviews. If only we'd read them before joining though. Tempted in by low prices and good sales staff we left a perfectly working yet more expensive provider. 2 months in we've made 7 phone calls, had 2 engineers out and still nothing works. We've paid well over what we were quoted and there seems to be regular payments vanishing from my account. Made the stupid mistake of tying ourselves in for 18 months on a service that doesn't work, costs more than advertised and causes more stress than worth. Do not ever use this company.

WARNING!!
If you are planning on moving house in the next 18 months then DO NOT SIGN UP!
They force you to sign a new 18 month contract every time you move or force you to buy yourself out of the contract!!
I am currently disputing this with the regulator.

My broadband with TalkTalk is fine, but in the last six months my phone service has stopped working four times. TalkTalk gave my number to multiple customers and getting it put right took a long time. My phone was down for six weeks all together and I had to phone TalkTalk over 10 times - which wasted hours of my time. TalkTalk customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. Avoid them if possible. I wish I had never taken out my contract.

Absolute rubbish! I was dumped by Virgin.net with about 100,000 others and everyone was transferred to TalkTalk. Most of the time, I can barely get on the internet and when I do, it doesn't last long. TalkTalk offer a terrible service and certainly don't supply the broadband speed they say they do.

Appalling, the customer service when you get through is the worst I have ever encountered. The personnel take ages to answer both on live chat and speaking, useless with no network knowledge. I am invoicing them for wasted time after the initial complaint. The customer service phone number does not work ? Is this legal ? I don't think so. I never got an answer to basic questions they could have just told me their routers wifi performance is the worst available. Legally they are on very shaky ground. If I am not paid on my invoice I will make a claim against their insurance. I feel sorry for anyone with more severe problems.

I don't normally write reviews but in this instance felt the urge. When reading reviews I generally feel that unhappy people tend to write them rather than happy ones - "everything is fine so why write one"! But it's worth doing your research and reading some reviews.
I've been with TT for a couple of years and everything has been fine until 3 month ago when my broadband speed plummeted. Since this time their customer service have been an absolute nightmare to deal with, numerous phone calls, engineer visits and empty promises and still a rubbish speed. To summarise; when everything is working they're OK, but if anything goes wrong - forget it. Avoid this company!!!!

Avoid at all costs.
When I first moved in I didn't have any internet connection for 4 weeks. It was completely TalkTalk's fault, yet I was the one who had to locate the problem (they had more than one phone number for my landline on their records, both numbers were wrong). Once I realised the problem I made a huge amount of phone calls to the indian call centre. I had to explain it to them and they finally fixed the problem. We received no compensation for the month of no connection whatsoever, despite my online business suffering.
When we finally got an internet connection it was the slowest, most intermittent connection I have ever used, including dial-up from early 00's.
We pay for a speed they quote as 3-6 Mbps. We consistently receive anywhere from 0.1 - 2 (it tenuously jumps around, never going above 2.5). Not just this but in a flat of 3 people we must allocate certain times when each of us can use the internet because it absolutely will not handle more than 1-2 people using it at once.
When we complained about the speed and bandwidth problem they said that they will charge £55 to get an engineer to take a look at the problem and there was absolutely nothing they can do otherwise. We still have 12 months left of the 18 month contract and all we can do is dissuade other people away from this terrible choice.

As others on here have said ,this company is a nightmare- dedicated to extortion. I contacted them in Jan 2014 to say I wanted to leave because of the appalling broadband speeds and other problems. They begged me to stay promising an 18 month special price deal of £15.00 because of 'my loyalty and to keep my business'.Against my better judgement I agreed but after 11 months I noticed that my bill had increased by £5 per month. I contacted them to say that the deal was for £15 not £20 but they said they could charge whatever they liked provided they gave notice of an increase. They gave no such notice and still have not provided evidence that they did despite numerous requests to do so. I refused to pay the increase and gave them a month's notice of my intention to quit on the grounds that THEY broke the 'contract' and not me. Since then they have tried to charge me for the remaining 5 months of the deal and have now put their demand in the hands of a debt collector - the first time in my life I have ever had such a threat. I will not pay them a penny and they can try to do their worst even if we all end up in court for the sake of £75. Abominable, outrageous, intimidatory and probably illegal stance from them and as others have said the regulator is entirely useless.

Appallingly bad service from TALK TALK. I am moving home to a new build and, as the post code is not on their system, it was a case of "computer says no". What they could not manage over 4 days and telephone conversations lasting 6 hours, BT sorted out in 30 minutes. Never again.

Talktalk is an absolute joke, I warn you all to never ever even think about using their horrible, disgusting service. You pay for nothing, we got it in January and since then the wifi was working for maximum 2 weeks. If always says you're not connected to the Internet. We've tried ringing them and get them to fix it, it's an absolute nightmare. Even if they fix it it breaks again after a few hours. They've sent out an engineer and even he didn't help. It's just unbelievable!! The worst company I've ever heard of!! And all of their call centers are somewhere in India so if you ring from mobile it costs you a fortune. The biggest mistake it was to think they're good. And you can't even bloody get rid of them now, if you want to leave they'll make you pay a massive termination fee. But what else can we do?! Rather pay for nothing?! There's never any proper connection. Can't say how much we regret it. It's just unacceptable. Really wish id choose any other company, I'd rather pay more for proper connection than £16 a month for "noise/interference on your line" & "your router isn't connected to the Internet", absolute waste of money and time. Dear talktalk, just let us leave...

Far and away the worst company I've ever had to deal with.
I'm an existing customer who made the upgrade from standard broadband to fiber. My live date
was June 8th at which point they disconnected my old service and told me the new one was live.
It wasnt. I was getting a specific error message which I'll paste to help anyone else searching
for the same problem :
The Agent Remote ID presented by the DSLAM is incorrect
Its now been ten days and I'm still not connected nor will they give me a definite answer on
when or even if it's going to be looked at.
The phone "help" desk are pathetic. All they do is tell you to turn off the router for 30
minutes then it'll be sorted. They know this isnt the case. It just gets you off the phone and
when you ring back it's someone else's problem. If you do get to a supervisor you get the
deluxe package "ring back in 72 hours" during which they will again do nothing. Ring back and
you're at square one where if you're lucky you'll get 20 minutes or so on hold before being
disconnected.
Their twitter is slightly better but all you get are apologies and "it's being investigated"
replies. I've been getting told this for six days now.
The error I'm getting isnt a hardware or line problem. It's apparently "down to an
authentication mismatch on the broadband, between TalkTalk & BT Openreach". So somewhere the
wrong info is on a database.
They just dont seem to care. Go to their website and the "community" section for more horror
stories of people waiting over a month for this to be resolved.
They may be amazing if everything goes to plan but trust me, if there's a problem they are
beyond useless and the fact you're paying for a service they arent delivering doesnt seem to
matter. They have your money, you can wait.

In short, if you want to cancel your broadband, expect to be ripped off. If you want to use your broadband, expect it to be slower than competitors in the area. God forbid, if you want to speak to anyone as you are likely put through to South Africa who hang up on you. I rarely have the energy to despise companies, but Talk Talk are one of those. Avoid, avoid avoid.

Do not sign up to Talk Talk! I will repeat that again. Do not sign up to Talk Talk. Speed and reliability since installation 8 months ago have been awful. Paying for 78mb speed getting around 15mb Max! Live right next to the overreach cabinet. Had Sky before no iusses around 68mb. We are now on the 4th engineer visit! Terrible! You have been warned.

Talk Talk is the most appalling company I have ever had to deal with. So far they have cut off my phone and I had spend over one and half hours on my mobile with bad reception speaking to numerous people begging to pay them money so I could get reconnected! We are also moving and trying to move the phone to the new house has taken 3 days so far and counting......website doesn't work, you spend hours listening to holding music and if you do get to talk to someone they can't help or they can't understand you! All in all the worst company ever. Oh and by the way the broadband drops out at regular intervals and we can only have one person using it at a time!

Talk talk are the worst company I have EVER had to deal with for anything! I would never deal with them again having finally managed to extract myself from a contract with them and I would discourage anyone I knew from signing up with them ever. How do they keep going as I am sure anyone who has ever had a contract with them feels the same?! Inefficient, ridiculous rip off extra hidden charges, impossible to communicate with-the list goes on. Their service could be the best and cheapest in the world and I would still avoid them like the plague -it isn't, but even if it was!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!

I stupidly just signed up for their Wifi broadband deal - I was an existing customer having been with Opal who were bought out by Talk Talk. They then cut my existing service 17 days before before the new service was due to be activated. I have spend close to 2 hours on the phone with them since over the last 3-4 days. Over a dozen calls with each one leaving me on hold for up to 5 minutes and me being continuously passed around. Still no closer to resolution. Recommend you stay as far away from this useless outfit as possible.

I Regret going for this cheap deal, with worst internet connection, the speed is unimaginable slow if you connect you smart tv and any other device, I use to be with virgin which was most reliable service and best connection speed, but paid always to much all months.
If at least the speed would be good I wouldnt mind, but all is crap with talktalk.
Do not get it

Talk Talk is perhaps the worst ISP I have had the misfortune to encounter. It has plagued my home with connection difficulties since the day I bought it. Not only has the extremely slow connection been problematic, I have also experienced a year (yes a year!) of inconsistent connection with repeated internet droppings throughout the day. Customer services have been polite with me, and seemed sincere enough when understanding my frustrations with their service, yet despite an excess of 20 phone calls spread over the year and countless hours wasted listening to hold music whilst some operator performs "service checks" the problem has never resolved, and neither do I believe TalkTalk are capable of resolving it. The speed is also significantly below what I would expect to be paying for, and even browsing the web has proved a challenge.
The purpose of this review is to expose the TalkTalk sham of a service, and I aim to dissuade any misinformed people to steer as far away from this train wreck as a possible. Overall, I think it near impossible to express my dissatisfaction of the service in words, but have aimed to do my best with this writing.
Quite frankly, TalkTalk in my experience provides a service nobody deserves to have to endure.

If I could have put zero stars I would have. The worst company I have EVER had to deal with EVER. 15 days after switching to these cowboys I still have no Internet service. An absolute nightmare. I have tried to cancel the contract due to their failure to provide what was agreed therefore as far as I am concerned talk talk have broken it by this failure to provide what was agreed - this is the basis of all contract law. However, tt say they must have 28 days to attempt to put the fault right which I think is a totally unreasonable.

Had no internet since my go live date for fibre 3 weeks ago. Customer service is a joke. I've never felt so angry about a company. Take a look at all the reviews. Pay a few quid more and go with someone else! Ive actively found review sites to warn people as I'm fuming! as they have breached the contract in there is no service they are allowing me to get out without charge. I suggest everyone else does the same. Hope they go bust!

The service provided by Talk Talk is abysmal. I would never ever recommend Talk Talk to anyone. I have no confidence in them, a call last week to them left me in tears. They charged me £65.00 for an engineer visit which I had to telephone to question and after two calls they eventually told me the charge was invalid and they would refund me. Three days later I had to phone them again regarding my broadband speed which is 0.58 download speed and 0.37 upload speed!!!!! Whenever they send the engineer out the speed of our broadband miraculously increases to 5Mb. A day or so after his visit we are back to square one. Every call I make to Talk Talk is painful, lengthy, usually lasting about an hour sometimes more and end in sending my stress levels soaring even though I consider myself to be a calm and patient person. I have tried to cancel my contract but was told that there would be a £175.00 cancellation charge. So I guess that is one way of retaining your customers.

Where do I begin. We have been AOL customers for over 10 years with no issue. We are a family of 4 all using Wi-Fi devises and as we were on a rolling contract with AOL, and not on Fibre Broadband thought we would take the TalkTalk fibre service.
MISTAKE!!
Cutover date was 19th May 2015. Since then we have had no broadband service. I continually have to chase for an update and during this 3 weeks we have had just 3 updates from them. Their responses are always scripted and always the same "we need to talk to BT Openreach". First issue they said was an account issue and that we were routed to a walled garden. Engineer visited and confirmed this in 5 minutes, this apparently has been resolved, but now there is an outage at the Moorhill Exchange. Yeh right!
This is costing us money. I work from home so have had to borrow wireless dongles to connect. All of have gone over on our mobile data.
Today I have been told by Fault Manager today that if I cancel the contract we will be liable for the cancellation fee of £200.
I have spoken to Customer Services and they have said that they will give it to 18th June and if not working then we can get out of the contract with no fee. We will get an email confirming this apparently.
Our neighbours are with TalkTalk, and we can connect to their broadband with no issue (with their permission and password), but don't like to use this too much. How can they have service from the same Exchange we don't have any??
I have spent hours and hours on the phone over the past 3 weeks, and everyday checking to see if the connection is available.
ADVICE - DO NO USE TALK TALK - IT IS REALLY NOT WORTH THE HASSLE

Numerous problems
Disgusting customer service
Constant issues
Bills always increasing
Cut off service because they have lost your payments and then take 2 weeks to refund the money.
Managers hang up on you.
Internet and phone lines constantly going down
TV service slow
Not one person understands any of the faults when you call them up
You have to contact them constantly as they never ring you back
The list could go on....

This service is absolutely disgusting. I have been with talk talk for several months and can not use the service I am paying for. The customer service is appalling. After several hours of phone calls over the last 3 months I think I have had one conversation that was pleasant. They either get ratty with you or just disconnected my call although I have been pleasant throughout. The speed is fast when it actually works although apparently the only time it will connect is when I am on the phone to them.I would not advise anyone to take this service as you are paying for something you can't use and they won't let you out of the contract. I don't feel they even warrant one star overall as the service is disgraceful and the only saving grace was one nice adviser who if he has any sense will move to a more reputable company
