To be brutally honest I'm shocked at how poor these guys are. The net speeds are slow as hell, and when you try pull them on it, tell them you're going elsewhere they try slap you with a £100 fee. So not only is their internet bad, they'll rob you when you shop around for a better provider. An epic disgrace on their behalf. I would not recommend them.

My issues with TalkTalk first began with a crackle on my phone line. This affected my broadband service and (due to having an upgraded package) it affected my television too.

The first way that TalkTalk tried to resolve this was by upselling Fibre Optic to me, which involved signing up to a new 18 month contract - as if I was going to commit to them when I wasn't even receiving the service that I was paying for.

The problem escalated to the point where I had no broadband or television for 22 days. A BT engineer came to my property and confirmed that my line was fine - yet TalkTalk continually failed to resolve the issue.

After 10-15 phone calls and 2 postal letters, I decided to leave TalkTalk. Despite having had no service for 22 days (and no end in sight), I had to fight to have the early termination charge waived.

As I had to give 30-days termination notice, I also had to fight to ensure that I wouldn't be charged for my final month.

Each time I called the contact centre, I had to explain the whole charade and wait on hold for up to 25 minutes at a time whilst the call handler read the notes on my account. Even after reading the notes, the call handler did not understand my situation and repeatedly I was told incorrect information. Failing that, the call handler would transfer me around about and in one instance I spoke to four different representatives.

During one of the latter phone calls, I was informed that the reason for my lack of broadband was because TalkTalk were delivering a Fibre Optic service to my standard broadband modem. Despite the fact that I had been on their Essentials Broadband package for the previous 12 months.

The call handler changed some settings and within 24 hours, I had a connection again! So after 22 days of confusion and no answers, the situation was resolved as easy as that.

After finally closing my account, I received a bill for £154.

It then took a further 1 hour and 37 minutes on the phone to get the charges waived (as previously agreed by a complaints manager).

Quite frankly, I am appalled and gobsmacked that the company manages to function on a day-to-day basis. Their obvious lack of internal communication is frustrating at best and their technical support team clearly lack the knowledge required.

I cannot advise against TalkTalk strongly enough.

Cancelled my contract after the price was raised mid contract. Talktalk kept on billing me. Sent over 30 email complaints to them. Not one response other than the automatic answer saying they would respond to my complaint in 3 days. I now have a county court judgement for an address I have never lived at from them. It was only discovered when i was turned down for credit.I am in the process of having the judgement set aside. I will then be forced to sue them for the damage they have done to my finances and reputation. Disgusting behavior. Terrible service. AVOID!

Just do not go anywhere near this company, it is a shambles. The support teams lie and make things up. I have had no broadband for 2 weeks, they tell me Open Reach are looking into this and it will be another 2 weeks. I contact Openreach and they know nothing of my issue. They will not keep going with this level of support, not a chance.

I ordered TalkTalk faster fibre broadband online at the end of May 2017. The router arrived 8th June 2017 ready for the go live date on 13th June 2017. The previous broadband supplier's router stopped working on the go live date as expected and the new router picked up in its place. Everything seemed to be in order and working well until suddenly, 20th June 2017, the broadband dropped out. I called TalkTalk to discuss this who told me there was a line issue which would be resolved by 23th June 2017. During the night, 21/06/2017 00:21, I received an email from TalkTalk cancelling my order. When I contacted them to discuss this they informed me they were unable to provide fibre broadband at my address. At no point did anyone contact me to discuss this or even highlight this as an issue during the order processing. So after cancelling my existing broadband contract to take it over they have now left me without a solution and without phone and broadband for another 14 days. No apology just "understanding" of my frustration, no attempt to persuade me to stay as a customer just persistent patronizing waffle about how they "didn't know this was an issue until yesterday". 100% awful customer service, 0 understanding and clearly a non-UK call centre where I was passed around while they found different excuses for their failings. My advice, stick to SKY or BT despite the price difference because at least they do what they say they're going to do.

The worst setup have ever dealt with. Still not even online been over a week since they said was live. Numerous calls to Talk Talk support, repeating over and over the same thing to them. They seem inept at booking an engineer which is amazing. Awful awful awful !!!!!!!!

Cant even give them 1 star! AVOID if you can!!!! Speed is awful in the evenings. We have spent more then half of our contract time without connection after 11 pm. I Had made hundreds of calls, had been opening sockets daily as per their advise, had taken many days off for engineer visits. Friends are experiencing the same even after upgrading to fibre. I am with the new supplier now and without internet for the second day because TalkTalk hasn't freed up the line yet! !!!

I have never in my life been so anger in completely regret having the talk talk services it's a bunch of bull. On the 3rd of September I request to add the tv services to my already running broadband and telephone services. I was then told I will have to wait until the 15th for an engineer to come set it up properly. The 15th had come and the engineer showed up and installed my box. He the realize the internet channels( which are the non-freeview channels are not working because he was in a rush he fobbed e off wit the excuse of because it's my go live day not all my channels will be working give it a few hours. I then waited 24hrs still no channels. The following day I have contacted talk talk and reported the problem. Now on top of being given the run around and having to ring 10times I eventually rang the cancellation team cause by now I was completely giving up. They then put me thru to 5 different technical support staff I was then told I will have to wait until the 1st of October between 7-9 for an appointment. I was very anger with this and voiced it so they then added a free 3montha subscription to my plan but the wasn't helpful as I still can't watch the tv or access it's services. The day of the engineer has come and the engineer has not turned up. Ringing back talk talk to speak to someone I'm being told they have no contact with the engineers therefore they can't tell me weather he will turn up or not. Completely unsatisfied with talk talk.

Why could talk talk not sort our landline . We were without a phone for 4 weeks! Customer Service - that's a joke. I was told to ring a premium number from my mobile to discuss the problem. They did not update us on the problem and did not liase with Open Reach. Broadband was intermitant at best. Now the want us to pay them £59 to leave as they say we are in contract. We have been with them for 10 years or so and no contract goes on for that long without being renewed?! so I say show us this "contract". BT are now our provider and the transition was smooth and our monthly payment is lower. Beware if you are thinking of moving to Talk Talk.

TalkTalk increased prices from 17.70 to 19.00 within a year, an increase not mentioned in my contract. They then strong-armed me in paying cancellation fees, as I requested to leave due to price increase and poor service. Just stay clear and spare urself unwanted sleazy corporation bureaucracy.

Don't do it. Customer service unbelievably inept.

We've spent 15+ hours on the phone trying to get connected only for them to cancel the account, then have to put through a new order which left us disconnected for 2 weeks. No apology offered.

We've had to wait in to get routers which never turn up, then got two at once.

TV service incredibly slow and unresponsive. We actually have fewer channels now than we did with our freeview box. Though a few of them are in HD now.

It is also impossible to make a complaint. No-one can take one from you. They say they can, and then they don't.

When you phone them up they never have your notes and you have to start all over again.

They are, without doubt the worst company I have ever had to deal with. It doesn't matter whether it's over email, Twitter, phone or live chat. They're all useless.

If you still go with these clowns after you've read the reviews on here, you have been warned. For anyone who is stuck in a contract like us, you have my sympathies.

I moved into my own house with my fiance, we went with Talk Talk because they had some kind of deal on or whatever.
The deal only lasted for about 3 months then the bill skyrocketed. I figured it wasnt worth calling them, and just continued with the service.

Time came (2 years later) to move back home for a few months to save money in order to immigrate to Canda. My partner moved in with his grandmother who had no internet, so he just transferred it to her house. No problems so far, just costly, and not overly good speed.

Two months or so before moving to Canada, I contacted Talk Talk to inform them that I was cancelling and explained why. She said it will bill me for one more month, and there would be a cancellation fee. I then explained that the one more month thing is fine, but as we werent under contract (after the 2 years we did month by month to avoid cancellation fee. after about an hour of discussion with her, she finally agreed that im under no obligation to pay cancellation fee.

A month went by and our internet was cut off at the grans house. Perfect! We took out the box and disconnected the wires etc. I then see that I got charged for another month.
To be honest, I had a lot bigger things to worry about (immigrating!), and decided she must have meant two months or something.

We moved to Canada as planned, and few months later got a call from his grandmother that she is getting debt letters from Talk Talk!!!!! She was recently after some heart surgery following a heart attack and wasnt fit to receive such letters.

I contacted them and...well long story short, I cancelled over the phone and online chat a total of about 5 or 6 times. Id get billed every month and his grandmother started getting calls from debt collectors. Every time I called, they refused to talk to me until I paid something towards the bill.
When I got through to them, they apologized, said all they can do is cancel it now and thatll be it. Nope. so several times I cancelled, and each time I got billed again I called them and each said they had no record of me cancelling.

Guys, I was trying to set myself up in a new country, Id done everything as I was supposed to in order to cancel. And yet there I was trying to find the area codes to call them and call his granny and try to email/online chat and TRY to cancel it for the last time.

After months it finally stopped. I dont think ive ever cried from stress so much before in my entire life. I was home sick and quite low on money, getting angry calls left right and centre and nobody would help me.

It was an extremely low time in my life, and I hope others are made aware.

On a side note, my sister had a less extreme version of this happen to her too. i.e the 'we have no record of you cancelling' and the cost skyrocketing without her agreeing to it/knowing it would be going up.

Utter disgrace. Im actually getting a lump in my throat just talking about it, it was so infuriating and stressful, I cant even express how hard they made things.
To top things off, many of the people i spoke to were really quite cold and just talked over me.

aggh TalkTalk customer service is SO SO BAD!! They cut off our old internet and took weeks to connect the new one. Then it didn't work. After repeated excruciating phonecalls they sent a BT engineer who said that the problem was the TalkTalk router and he'd tell them to send a new one. Which didn't come... cue more excruciating phonecalls with awful voice recognition, long waits, and staff in the Philippines following long winded, excessive thankful-for-your-wait, but useless scripts... The people in Preston I spoke to when I threatened to leave were very nice though - they must be very practised at talking to angry customers.

These guys are amazing! I'm a massive fan of nostalgia, love vcrs, n64,s, gamecube! The lot!
Do you remember when you were 10 years old and your parents internet sounded like dubstep?
If you want that without any of the annoying noise just the blank empty feeling of silence then talktalk are your provider!
I have fond memories of loading up YouTube to have it sat there trying to load the video at 240p and struggling!
At £20 a month an absolute bargain for reliving the dial up of our youth!
We may not have the beep boop we so long for but that is easily fixed by loading up the internet and clicking on anything at all and smashing your head off your table to tally simulate the hopeless feeling we had as teens.
The best part is if you happen to have a problem (how could you?)
You can speak to a staff who's only goal in life is torepear the same words over and over with slightly different inflections each time.

I mean to be honest it's a genius way to run a company, make your customer so suicidally difficult that no normal living person would dare run that gauntlet.
I salute you talktalk you have won the prize of being the biggest *****

I cannot believe what rubbish people are writing here.
Before joining TalkTalk I got some very good feebdback by a work colleague and now I am with them from more than 2 years. Broadband is excellent, signal is always there and rarely drop. I opted for non fibre broadband but to me it looks it is actually a fibre broadband as it is quick, reliable and I have nothing to complain about. Customer service is OK and I think people get bad experience and frustration because they are not native British and there might be some language barrier but it is not a problem for me at the end the company manage to keep the cost down because they hire people ona junior or entry level with a minimum wage or so.
I would advise everyone to joy TalkTalk

i too am a very unhappy disgrunted soon to be ex-customer of talktalk. i've told them i'll see them in court as they want me to pay the years line rental although it will be turned off on 12th november 2016. i took the contract out beginning of september and they couldn't get it done for 28 days. went live on 3rd october and started complaining shortly after. for over 5 days i had no landline or internet service. this was a contract that said i would get unlimited broadband and whilst at peak times it may be slow, nowhere in the contract did it say it would be non-existant!!! i've spent over 4 and a half hours on the phone (freephone number thank gawd!) and talktalk only have evidence of 1 of them! truly amazing. apparently you are only allowed to cancel within 20 days - day 1 starts from the day you sign up so the fact it took them 28 days to turn it on and it started going shortly after means i am out of "cancellation contract" - the last straw was on 25th october my mother who lived with us took a turn for the worse - with no landline available nor internet my husband had to drive to the doctors to get him to come out to her. she died the next day and the doctor had told us that he had tried phoning but couldn't get through and when the landline did come back on a few days later i heard his message on their voicemail system which i was not aware of. technical help at talktalk india is not technical. even the bloke from the uk i've screamed at and he want another 15 days to sort this out? WHAT?????? my mother died and we couldn't get help! i've involved the ombudsman now. if talktalks staff consist of a person in india reading off a scripted page on the pc for less than minimum wage then that does NOT constitute "technical help" - i could go on with the other problems i had but i think the whole thing stinks! even to the fact they wanted to charge me £65.00 for an engineer to come out when once back on line (and even with THIS message i am typing the compuer has lost signal TWICE!!!) found out that the continual beeping noise on the landline is your voicemail box? what the ???? i never even asked for that nor was told about it! bloody useless and i will have my day in court if they push me! truly dreadful!!!

Thank you TALKTALK, because of your shambolic systems I missed buying a item on eBay that I had been searching for, for over 5 years (before I moved to deepest Essex) as when I hit the enter key with my BID your speed was so slow, I think is reached eBay in £'s--shillings and pence, the winning bid was lower than the one I entered, I am an old hand with eBay and I know it was at least 2 seconds before bidding ended.
Been with talktalk for over 5 years, I must be mad as I trusted them. the download speed has dropped to a extra slow crawl and in spite of calls to the various help lines and the promise of return calls (Hello Santa is That Harley Davidson really for me) I am stuck with the biggest load of total C**P of a broadband service.
I have to say that the phone works just fine.
It's more than just a coincidence that the slow speeds started just as TALKTALT started to let customers know that fibre broadband was available and of course it cost more.
To be on the safe side I was able to check my download speed on a neighbours Broadband (not T/T's) and it was over 9 download.
One other thing about talktalk, the contracts with them are separate, the phone line is for 12 months but for Broadband it's 18 months, so if you want to cancel, you will be hit hard with penalties (£'s).
I will tomorrow, without fail call it a day with them. I'm not sure who I will go to but all I want is a reliable service, it's not how much it costs.

I have been a client of the Talektalk for a long time but lately the service has deteriorated significantly and the way of contact with the client to understand my needs.Soon another contract ends and I will definitely go to another supplier.

Absolute shambles. This company is a joke. Takes you forever to get a connection with a adviser. Couple of times they just have up and put the phone down. Connection is slow! Just altogether a really awful service. Would not recommend to anyone. Oh and to top it off with all the issues, a multi million pound company could only offer £5 voucher against a bill. I mean really!

We have just out from the 18 months contract with TalkTalk. Lot to write but time is precious than reviewing someone who never bothered to change.

Do not sign up to Talk Talk! I will repeat that again. Do not sign up to Talk Talk. Speed and reliability since installation 8 months ago have been awful. Paying for 78mb speed getting around 15mb Max! Live right next to the overreach cabinet. Had Sky before no iusses around 68mb. We are now on the 4th engineer visit! Terrible! You have been warned.

When I first transferred to Talk Talk I was getting reasonable speeds of around 25MB which for our area is reasonably good.
Now I am lucky to get 18MB and that is with a 'BOOST' add on which they charge me £5 per month for the privilege.
What is even worse is that the signal constantly drops, at least every hour it loses all internet signal and I have to wait between 1 to 5 mins for it to come back online.
It is so desperate as I run a business from home that I have taken to using my mobile phone as a hot spot to stay online and get any speed.

We are the cheapest. We promise to never raise your prices. This is true. What they don't reveal in the sales pitch is that the call when they sign you up is the only nice call you will have with them, the only one from a UK call centre. Every other interaction with them us to people all over the world that do not listen to you, that cut you off and the internet is patchy at best, And this is what they call faster fibre, what fibre are you using? Cotton?
I dislike them with every fibre (get it) of my being. I ordered from them and I have been getting buffering when trying to stream. yes there was a time when that was normal and we just took it but it's 2019! So after 5 days of this I say I want to cancel and they say my cooling off period ended before I even got connected as it was so far in the future. So how can I know if I do want to stay??? You see how they trick you. We cant connect you for 3 weeks but you only have 2 weeks to decide if we're any good. Avoid! Walk walk away. If I can save just one customer from this misery I am currently battling, my work is done. Please spread the word!

It is an awful service..i wish i could never sign up with them.. They have keep liying to me that they've sent ober the router which never arrived at my home..after two weeks talking with them every day for an hour to get the router i decided to cancel the account without any charge as advised.. This happened in April and after two months i received a final demand of outstanding amount of 61 pounds, one day after i have received a letter from agency to chase for an outstanding amount of £271, i forgot to mention that i have never received bills from them as i have never used their services..they are trying to steal money from people..the costumer service minus 10, they do not know how to speak.. I have joined Sky and i am very happy..

I will keep it short: worst customer service ever, operators are clearly reading a scrip and barely speak English, I had to go through an average of 3 people until my issues were sorted. Good job I was keep checking my bills as on a couple of occasions I was charged for services I didn't even use (including phone calls and I don't even have a phone). Be aware. I would rather pay £5 extra for any other network provider but I would never go with Talk Talk again.

Having had the line installed for more than 1 week, it never worked, either the phone, broadband or TV, yet they are still charging us for it and repeatedly lying about the reasons for not coming to fix it. TalkTalk has the most appalling customer service, they can lie up to 5 times in the same day. E.g. we were sent a piece of equipment that was supposed to arrive on Saturday (according to phone calls on Friday and Saturday, 3 of them), then it was Monday, then it was 3-5 days, then the Royal Mail had forgotten to provide them with the track order, so I could not check whether it had been really sent. It is 8 days since the line was installed and we still don't have an explanation why it does not work. Keep away from TalkTalk.

    Talk talk's broadband was ok.

However, the customer service is poor. I moved out of the country and even though I called them a couple of times to ask them to cancel my account, they didn't. They contacted me 3 months later via a different company to ask me to pay for a debt for the services that I hadn't been using all of this time and which Ι asked them to cancel for me 3 months ago.

When I contacted them, after 3 months, in order to speak to agents, the agents kept hanging up the phone to me. I was on the phone with them for 2 and a half hours. I spoke to 7 different agents which were not quite happy to assist me with my request.

The last agent managed to cancel my account and I now have to pay for a great amount of money for a service that I did not use for the past three months only because the customer service was poor three months ago too and they did not cancel my account upon my request.

TalkTalk customer service is the worst.
I had a problem with my account being suspending because I went over the limit for my internet data usage - so instead of just closing my internet, they decided to deactivate my whole account including messages and calls.

I apparently had used £36 over the data limit and had to pay that in order to reactivate my account. What annoys me is that there are no caps to stop me from using 3g when I have no allowance left. What's worse is that TalkTalk send one message telling you you have a little (e.g. 117mb) left to warn you but do not send you a message to tell you that you have spent all your allowance. This can only mean that they want you to go over your limit so they can get you to pay to reactivate your account.

When I phoned the customer services, the first man hung up on me, the second time, a woman answered with an incredibly patronising tone of voice who then passed me on to her colleague who just kept laughing at my issue. Then I asked to speak to the manager but I just kept getting directed to other representatives that showed more patronisation. The last guy is the only half-decent one because he actually listen to me.
