    The best speed obtainable with BT was 0.5Mb and that was on their Option 3 tariff. Having swapped to TalkTalk earlier this year I was amazed that I immediately was getting speeds close to 3MB and I have never experienced any loss of service. However, the TalkTalk customer service is laughable, they are simply not capable of resolving any issues, no matter how simple. Nevertheless, providing you are an experienced computer user or know someone who is, then for the speed and reliabilty alone TalkTalk is a good choice.

    The worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Cannot help via phone / app / text. Speaks over me 24/7. Asked to change payment date and they charged me 2 late payment fees. Broadband speed is the worst ever and hardly works yet they can’t do anything about it. When my contract was up I was going to cancel but they had already started a new contract for me so I cannot get out of it and could not do anything about it. Disgusting! Can’t wait to leave them id rather have no broadband than be with them

    Worst company I've ever had to deal with. Poor broadband, the TV service is terrible, they kept putting the bills up, I cancelled and have had nothing but trouble and constantly sending me all sorts of bills for things I haven't got and haven't done. I can never get a decent person to sort anything out its been nothing but stress.

    I always had a speed issue with talktalk, they said it was not there fault and they said BT would not be any better, well when i was with talktalk best speed was 8mb now with BT speed is 15MB would not recommend talktalk.

    A turtle actually retrieving the information I need from the internet would be faster than any connection Talktalk could use.

    In fact giving it one star in any category is an insult to star ratings all over the place.

    When a younger family member was over I allowed them to use my gaming laptop to play Minecraft on. The wi-fi struggle with it. MINECRAFT for lord sake.

    Don't get me started on ping. My friend complained about having 50 ping, out of curosity looked at mine "Thinking, oh it won't be to bad" 300-500. 500 ping. 5.0.0

    After conducting several connection test, on average, our download speed was 1.3 MB and our upload speed was 0.7 KB. That's right, not even a MB worth of upload speed.

    Oh this wasn't at peak times as well, because I understand that the more people using it the more it's going to slower. This was at 2 in the afternoon.

    So go with Talk Talk if you want the aggravating experience of your wi-fi dropping out, games lagging to such an extent by the time you've loaded it the match is over and the hair pulling fun times of connection issues.

    My experience with talktalk is beyond words!!
    Vile telephone helpline impossible to speak to anyone when you do get through you’re put on hold or hung up on. The email service seems to be run by computer or apes that could not answer one question or acknowledge anything stated in emails. Charges added all over the place payment system that fails then charges you for late payment

    Horrid broadband service.
    The installation of the Internet was made on December 8, but it could not be finished. First, they informed me that there was an obstruction in the conduit to pass the cable, second that there was a data problem and finally, a month later they told us that it was necessary to cancel the contract and make a new one because the previous one was not well done. We were all Christmas without Internet service. We received messages saying that the service was alive. On top of this we received a bill informing us that they would charge us for the service. After several calls they assured us that everything was cancelled and days later the bank debited us the money. Now we are claiming the refund and without any answer.
    All this situation has caused several problems to my family, we have spent a month without Internet service, wasting time and money. We have been in touch with TalkTalk by email and telephone, however, nobody has ever contacted us. We asked to speak with a supervisor or someone responsible from the company, but they said that it was not possible, they cancelled the contract due to their inability to connect the service, they also charged us for the unsuccessfully service and now nobody answers to return our money. What other new thing could we expect if, beyond cancelling the contract, we continue wasting time and money.
    When are we suppose to have our money back?

    ABSOLUTELY AWFUL !!!! I've no idea what the broadband is like because 2 months ago the equipment was installed but we are yet to be connected. If you live in York please please please don't sign up. I've cancelled work today to wait in for an engineer who isn't coming. No courtesy phone call. I had to ring them to find out!!

    Disgusting Company - White collar robbery
    So me and my family were forced to change internet provider due to TalkTalk having absolutely awful download speeds and not being able to improve on them.

    We went through the cancellation process only to find out that TalkTalk had still been charging us! £40 a month. We called them and told them that this had been cancelled, however, the company has said, in order to cancel our broadband, we are required to get our new service provider to contact them to verify this change.

    I have contacted my new service provider, and this is an outright lie from TalkTalk.

    Pure lies from the company who have been a total nightmare for the years that we have been with them.

    I would not recommend this company to anybody.

    Over charged every month, promised refund never received it, billed for parts of package we were assured were free,they dont understand plain english when you phone up to complain about over charging absolutely dire company to deal with. Counting down the days until we can get out of contract

    Terrible, a lot worse than the wifi in my Year 1 accommodation. It's so slow, even when I'm the only one in the house. It often doesn't load websites properly and when I video call my boyfriend he says I sound robotic and my video lags. Can't wait to move into my new student house and use a better provider.

    Absolutely disgusting company, I had a complaint going through with them which they closed on their side without any further contact with me. They had my address, my email address, a landline and a mobile.

    I tried to cancel with these jokers only to be stuck with a ridiculous cancellation fee.

    Now don't get me wrong I understand cancellation fees, but theirs was extortionate.

    I ended up going through their complaints procedure for something different and all they did was harass me.

    I repeatedly told them the best times to call me and they called at everytime but those times, leaving countless voicemails which were barely understandable.


    My complaint was in regards to their service and how I thought it was disgusting and wished to leave their company sans the cancellation fee.

    They disagreed with this and we were left at a bit of an impasse whilst I spoke to the Ombudsman.

    I then received a vague and garbled voicemail stating they had an update to my complaint.


    I called back to speak to an agent who had no idea what I was talking about to eventually speak to a manager who proceeded to reiterate their point previously about the cancellation fee.

    I asked what they had called about and what update they had, only for her to repeat the same sentence confirming their standpoint.

    I asked again what the voicemail and update was concerning, only to have her say the same stock script about cancellation.

    I didn't understand the point of the call!

    Absolute joke of a company, I'm keeping my direct debit until my contract is up and will until my last breath advise against this company.

    I was told not to use them myself but thought 'hey they're cheap, it can't be that bad'

    It is....and so much worse.

    Avoid at all costs, reprehensible company needs to be changed from the top down. Disgusting.

    The worst experience of my life and I have been around a long time. Put on hold,handed from one person to another,cut off waiting,having a party so you cannot hear the operator.......Talk Talk have the lot!!!

    Never be tempted by talk talk. I was as I was fed up with sky. I found a deal with Cashback and signed up. After a short while I got a letter cancelling our order. After ringing to sort out why they made a new account. Then it all went more pair shaped and I got a better deal from Sky. Talking to talk talk customer services was really difficult and they didn't understand anything. I have also got a telhone bill of 2 long conversations to them for over £50. What the hell. Avoid at all costs. It will cost you!

    Awful company food if nothing goes wrong, if youbget a problem it takes about 10 mins in phone calls to get through to a person and they do not understand the problem and jyst repeat themselves asif they are reading of a screen do not help then at the end of the phone call they have the cheek to ask if you are happy with the phone call AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!! Id rather stick with bt or sky and pay a extra couple of pounds more a month

    Promised 10mbps and above, but we struggle to get anything over 2.5

    Tech support are a nightmare, all they want to do is sell you fix-all-the-speed-issues fibre

    I'm currently going down the complaints process as they're in breach of contract as far as I'm concerned.

    Avoid them like the plague. If there are any issues then you're stuffed and you will enter the never ending circle of technical support pain, endlessly starting their support script from the beginning each time. It is HELL.

    We moved to TalkTalk from Plusnet and bitterly regret it.

    AVOID TALKTALK AT ALL COSTS

    I honestly don’t understand why so many people are complaining about Talk Talk. I switched my provider to them from Sky as I was experiencing horrendous download speeds and constant buffering. I originally wanted to sign up to the UFO package but was told it wasn’t available in my area. I moved to their standard high speed deal and was happy with the change. A month after I signed up UFO became available in my area, I contacted Talk Talk and told them I wanted to switch as this was what I wax originally interested in. Within a week I had 2 engineers on site and the install was finished. I had no charges for changing my package and no sign up fees. I average download speeds of about 200mbs and stream Netflix in Ultra High Def with no problems. Even with an average of 4 devices connected at any one time I don’t experience loss of service or any slowing/ buffering. I’m on a completely uncapped package and I have to say it’s the best ISP I’ve used.

    I am unable to leave zero stars, so one is being generous. Since joining talk talk 3 months ago we have not had a day that I can recall with full internet connection. Every time I call or have an online chat I'm advised that the problem is being looked into (although no technical fault can ever be found) and left hanging again. No follow up calls, no customer service calls, nothing, zilch, I have never experienced such appalling service with the product being provided or the staff at talk talk. I cannot express how frustrating this is and I certainly would not recommend anyone would join talk talk!

    I have been with this company for nearly 2 months now and it's turning into a nightmare. Firstly, I had to wait for 3 days after the engineers installed my equipment, despite being told that they would have me up and running before leaving. I live in York where TalkTalk provide superfast broadband but it isn't super fast at all. It's worse than what I had previously with Virgin which is advertised at a speed 15 times lower. Then, I went to use my landline and it wasn't working so I contacted them and they suspended my services for 4 days because of their mistake when they set me up. They told me it would be 2 days, then 3 and then 4. Lies and incompetence and I'm not standing for it any more. I have made it clear to them that one more cock-up and I will cancel my dd and see them in court if necessary. Awful company - stay away! Remember the old saying - if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

    Really annoyed with talk talk. I got a letter saying the engineer will be around to install my broadband and phone this week. Strange that as Ive never ordered anything from them ever as Ive heard theyre the worst net service in the Country. Called them up to ask what was going on. Was disgusted at the way I was spoken to and the matter was handled. Avoid them like the plague they really are that bad.

    only switched to Talktalk from advice given to me from staff at PCworld/currys after purchasing new laptop. was given ‘advice’ by sales staff who stated my new laptop would work better with talktalk ..

    shouldve stayed with Sky as i had never experienced any network or connection issues.. talktalk does not work during peak times.. ie mon-fri 4pm-6pm and saturday around 2pm. im still within 14 days of joining- so i will be cancelling within next couple days.

    Bad Shortcomings of Talk Talk in their service
    1. When they could not install the service, we had to communicate with them, because they never contacted us on their own initiative.
    2. We spent a lot of time in calls and emails.
    3. There was no follow-up of our case, each person who attended us gave us different information.
    4. We did not have access to any supervisor or other person that we considered responsible to process our concerns.
    5. We never knew exactly what the problem was. We felt lack of transparency and vague and generic answers.
    6. They never met deadlines or the things they told us; If you can take your own actions like calling your bank and blocking any transaction.
    7. We should have trusted our instinct more, anything as unpredictable as it seems to have happened to us.

    If there was an option to give no stars I would! I never write reviews but am so angry with TalkTalk I don’t want anyone else to experience how awful they are. TalkTalk are an absolute joke and should be avoided from the very start. I live in York and signed up to their new Ultra Fibre Optic (UFO) broadband which is not only at a good price, but claims up 900 mb/s. I had the Wi-fi box installed into my house with no issues and from a very friendly engineer. Unfortunately this was over 6 weeks ago and I still have no internet. Apparently there is a data base issue which means the router in your house will not connect to the fibre optic. Their engineering team seem very reluctant to rewrite the code because apparently it’s just too big a job. They cancelled my order, ran some tests and claimed it would be up and running. They placed a new order with me, and hey presto it still doesn’t work. So after 6 weeks of waiting they told me that they just can’t provide me with internet and it would probably be another couple of months before they could rewrite the code in the database. The customer service is appalling. I rang them about 15 times throughout this period to get an update, just to be told that they can’t provide any timeline on when it would be fixed. This is not an isolated incident either. There are around 30 other houses in York which are also affected and is actually probably much more. If I hadn’t been so pushy with ringing them to demand answers I’m certain I would have been left in the dark for much longer. Not only have they literally wasted hours of my time, there is absolutely no compensation. The Wi-fi box was on for 3 weeks charging and costing me money to run before I got so fed up and eventually turned it off. I will also be informing OFCOM and hope others who have experienced such awful service do the same. I sincerely hope the company gets fined or forced to review how it runs its business and treats it customers. DO NOT GO WITH TALKTALK!!!!

    I cancelled my old contract to re open in my name, been having issues ever since. First off it took them a month to activate my ‘go live date’ then emailed saying it’s ready to go only to find there’s more issues with the line. Although we had their services before and it was fine . The customer services team are very unhelpful and don’t seem to care. Strongly advise to avoid even if their speeds are very good

    Having moved house recently I moved to TalkTalk. The line kept dropping when I was using broadband.
    I used their terrible chat system many, many times. The time it takes the agents to verify who you are takes around 15 minutes, by which time my line always drops and I lose the chat connection so I'm forced to start again. I'm currently invested 10 hours plus in this process and each attempted interaction takes over an hour.
    One Friday evening several weeks ago I managed to get as far as doing tests. I was told an engineer would then go to the exchange and remedy the situation.
    This never happened. After several more failed chat sessions I made it through to another round of tests and was told the results would be telephoned to me within three days. This didn't happen. I did receive a message with a number to call. They said that they would mark the matter as resolved if I didn't reply within 7 days.
    I took time out of my holiday to make a phone call to the number given, only to be told that I had to be at home to complete the test - I was on holiday and that took me over the 7-day deadline and I wasn't driving from Devon to York to sit on a phone call with people who can barely speak English!
    I asked if I could leave TalkTalk and I can, but it will cost me £120 as they haven't completed testing. It's a vicious circle that I can't escape from and I have to continue paying for something that doesn't work. I'm trapped in TalkTalk hell.

    Awful company - we have now been without internet for 3 weeks, both my partner and I work from home and have been out of work for 3 weeks due to this!!! No support was given, appalling customer service... each time I call, it cuts out. Each time I email, they apologise but do nothing about it. Will never go with this company again, they have caused me so much stress these past 3 weeks. Severely lacking in communication and customer service skills! Steer well clear of this provider.

    So I’ve just joined and am not happy at all! They are rude on the phone, don’t care about customer service at all and one of them even lied about what they were doing! Signal is awful too had to ring up about 4 times within two weeks! Wish I never looked at this company! Beware!! AVOID

    Absolute rubbish , also worst customer service ever. Sooner we can leave talk talk the better. I would give a big zero for all aspects of the service and would certainly not recommend them to anyone.

    I was with a company called TenTel and talktalk bought TenTel. When this happened I cancelled my account because I didn’t want to go with talktalk. However talktalk continued to take over the account even though I had already switched to sky. So I had now two broadband providers, one of them I was unware of until I started getting billed. I then cancelled talktalk a second time and told them I wasn’t paying because I had already cancelled and haven’t been using there services anyway. They said that was fine and to call back when I got my final bill the following week with a reference they had given me. And that’s what I did. When I called back they had no record of me and had moved my £20 detbit to a det collector and I now have to pay £61. This company’s customer service is disgusting and they shouldn’t be aloud to treat people like this.
