I'm with Sky, an elderly friend is with Talk Talk & has been for years. She decided to join Sky after financial circumstances changed and got a cheaper and better deal. However, once she went to cancel Talk Talk, they slapped her with over £100 bill due to cancelling her contract early. Unknown to her she had signed for a 2 year TV contract 18 months ago!! Also late last year, her outside telephone line snapped at the pole in the street. BT Openreach did the repair. Talk Talk then billed her £50 for work which they said was done inside the house ! There was NO work done inside the house ! On her behalf & with her permission I contacted Talk Talk, complained about both incidents and they waived both of the charges ! (After an hour and a half on the 'phone !!) Talk Talk may be the cheapest, but you get what you pay for ! For balance - Talk Talk did apologise for the billings and said that they should not have been made. They apologised to her.

Terrible service. Never give them your number otherwise they will call you everyday. I've been getting calls for weeks and they are so rude when you tell them you aren't interested in their services and try to convince you until you get so annoyed you just hang up. Such mean and rude people. Really stupid cuz I'm not happy with my broadband from another company and would have considered switching if they weren't so intense and mean.

i was quite happy till my router software failed and they wanted to CHARGE ME for a new one, even though in a feww weeks i was upgrading to fibre?
there customer services are way below par from when they first came on the scene.
shame on you talk talk lovalty counts for nothing.
i went and used and old router, in doing so i found a massive security flaw in their routers.
now i am going to slate them and release this exploit for all to see
u can use anyones phone number to logon to there account through the router.
    anyones.
ive now tried it with my own obviously my dads who lives miles away and my wifes mums.
got different ip addresses for all
    so insecure its laughable.
and if u use dumpper and jumpstart you can crack the pin number within 10 seconds.
yes im leaving them in 2 weeks roll on fibre optic.
    shame on talktalk.
    off to publish and shame

I've been with TalkTalk a number of years - ever since it took over from my previous broadband supplier - and have recently sold my house. I wanted to cancel my TalkTalk account because I have no need for it now I'm not the property owner. The service was basically OK - slow, and now uncompetitive on price since a sudden 66% increase - but otherwise OK.

I called their phoneline and requested the account cancellation but was told that wasn't possible and that I had to cancel my BT line and that doing that would then mean my broadband would cease due to not having the requisite landline. That didn't seem right to me - why I cannot simply give notice to have my TalkTalk account closed so I know when the final payment would be due and that it's closed properly. It shouldn't be the case that I have to cancel my BT phoneline and then wait and hope that TalkTalk cancels my account with them and any further direct debits.

I asked what happens in the situation where people simply no-longer want the TalkTalk services and aren't moving house. She replied in that situation I would also have to ask BT to close my phoneline and then wait and reopen it at a later date. I was told there's no facility for cancelling my account and that I'd also have to wait for a new broadband provider to take over from TalkTalk before my account could close. I don't know when or even if the subsequent inhabitants of the house will want broadband connected, so I don't see why closing my account should have anything to do with that. During that conversation, the person I spoke with became aggressive in tone so ultimately I put the phone down rather than listen to her rant at me. I've never spoken to a customer service like that before.

I called back a short while later, after cancelling the BT line (which was a very straight forward experience in comparison), and was told this time there was a "technical problem" that prevented the closure of accounts and that they'd like to call me back in an hour. I asked if I could speak to someone else, but instead she went herself to supposedly speak with a customer service manager. When she picked the phone up again 5 minutes or so later it was another excuse about how there's now a "stick" on my line. It doesn't instill you with much confidence in a company when you get a string of different excuses like that.

I asked when my next payment was due, she said she didn't know. I asked about cancelling my direct debit and she said that would incur a charge. I had to go ahead and cancel the direct debit because I was concerned and left with no other route forward. I think the customer service is appalling, the misinformation and attempts to avoid or redirect a basic request to close my account mean I no longer trust TalkTalk.

As has been said before on here - please AVOID TALKTALK LIKE THE PLAGUE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO LOOSE YOUR SANITY AND TIME!

If their representatives do not want to bother helping you or if your query becomes too much trouble for them, then they simply hang up on you or end the live chat conversation. This is very frustrating as you go through the trouble of giving your details and answering their security questions etc., then you go through telling them all about your problem - then come back with annoying standard remarks like "I understand your concern", "Thank you for your patience with TalkTalk today" and then then absolute killer, when they have taken up a ridiculous amount of your time, frustrated you to the point you just want to explode and NOT answered your query - "Thank you for calling TalkTalk, is there anything else I can help you with today?"

I have been through the 'moving house scenario with TalkTalk' and suffice to say they took money from my account for my old number (which was no longer in service) and my new number (which took them 2 months to connect). It took about a year and a half for me to get my money back and that was only because I contacted their then Chairman and issued a scathing review of their failings.

Operators in their Indian call centre call to trick you into committing into another 18 month contract and if they think you will say anything other than yes, they hang up.

I paid my bill and two days later still had no phone. They then tried to get me to call a premium rate number from a phone that I had just explained for the tenth time was not working and then suggested I call from my mobile!!! You know a phone call to TALKTALK is going to go on FOREVER! If you call their 0203 441 5550 number you can only pay your bill using an automated system (my bill was paid so I just needed to speak to someone) and then you are cut off.

Everytime I have to deal with TalkTalk I need to take a bottle of Valium just to prepare myself.

Please, I beg you, desert this awful atrocious joke of a company if you are already a customer and DO NOT touch them if you are not.

One last thing, all the positive reviews about TalkTalk are fake!!!

Not really sure what I am paying for with Talk Talk except for high blood pressure and a little black box that plugs into my wall. After 3 hours of phone calls over 2 weeks I still have no broadband. Whenever I call to complain I am told to "wait 72 hours and call again". Not sure why I have given them one star for broadband as I don't have any! I tried cancelling my contract as they seem to be unable to provide me with anything and they said that will be £230. I am struggling to decide whether to carry on paying for a service I am not receiving or whether to pay their ridiculous fees for cancelling the contract. Seriously, do not sign up to Talk Talk.

having moved to talktalk from sky, i can say it was the worst idea i've ever made. If you are making the switch, I would advise against it at all costs. Their support is shocking. The internet speed is nowhere as close as sky.

There is no words to describe how BAD the service is, ESPECIALLY CUSTOMER SERVICE I would not recommend this service to my worst enemy. I have been passed around everyone in every department and still the issue of inconsistent fibre broadband cannot be resolved, or iff anyone is actually bothered it seems to just be a big joke to them IF YOUR THINKING OF SIGNING TO TALKTALK PLEASE THINK AGAIN I WOULDNT WANT ANYONE ELSE TO HAVE THE HASSLE AND INCONVENIENCE THAT WE HAVE HAD

For the past two months me and my flatmate have been cut off from our broadband after we paid the bill and have been made to pay twice effectively to be reconnected. This has also cost us additional charges in increased mobile data usage, mobile calls etc.
We're cancelling our service and switching to someone who can at least keep track of payments made.

Please Please Please save yourself hours of your life and do not sign up to a TalkTalk contract. If you ever have a problem with your internet then you will spend hours trying to deal with an incompetent customer services team that will, send you back to the start of a basic troubleshooting process every time you call, fail to call you back when promised, never pass on your details to the next caller and regularly close cases before your problem is resolved. The worst company i have ever signed up to.

The telephone engineer connected me to talk talk fibre broadband, but said the router was faulty. It was a common thing and needed me to call talk talk so they could manually configure my super router. That evening I rang ( call centre is not uk based so you struggle to understand them and get fed up of them saying sorry every minute. The call went on and on whilst they did tests on the line, despite me telling them it was the router and eventually my mobile went flat. My husband then rang from his mobile and had to go through everything again only then to be told turn it off for 20 minutes. I did that and it still did not work. Was I surprised ..... No. I rang a 3rd to time to have to go through everything again. They cleared make NO notes on your file at all!! I was then told it would take 10 minutes whilst 'tests' were done. I kicked off as thus far this had cost me a fortune so he rung me back to tell me there was nothing he could do. He asked if I wanted to speak to a manager and I said yes so was put on hold. He came back and said they had gone home but I would get a call in the morning. No call and have been waiting 20 hours now for that call. I have spent hours on talk talk website and there is no e-mail address just the phone that takes you to the call centre some where in Asia. TALKTALK LISTEN. I am a new customer and so far have no broadband despite a lovely e-mail from you this morning telling me I am connected to your quick fibre broadband. No one cares and no one calls you back. YOUR CALLCENTRE IS AJOKE

This is simply the worst broadband in the world. The Broadband speed connection is average, it goes from average to very slow. But the most worry is the land line... I work from home and I need the phone to work at all times. More than once, in less than month, the landline simply didn't receive or made calls. I am not going to jeopardise my work, my earnings because of technical problems that shouldn't happen that often. Customer service is impersonal. I didn't deal with anyone, was simply direct to an answering machine. I am switching to another company, so problems solved. I won't recommend talk talk to anyone and if you are stuck with a contract, just pay the difference. It will save you many headaches.

    NEVER AGAIN!!!
    The worst provider ever!!!
I had 2 months of hell when I joined, and 2 months of hell when I decided to leave them. They didn't stop my contract when I asked them, and then charged me for using the internet! Customer support are HORRIBLE! They are absolutely numb. They told me that they have my calls to customer support recorded (which is fine), but they told me that I called from my LAND LINE, when I don't even have a phone (device) connected to it...

Talk Talk is absolute the worst! In both Broadband and Customer Services. My best advice is never ever to go with them, unless you want to be put on hold and transferred to different departments back and forth for at least 10 times!

If I could put no stars I would! Late with our 'Go Live' date, told us we were lying when they said our go live date was earlier. Telling us our internet and phone is working when it isn't. Tried speaking to Technical services and they told me to go through the wires myself to check the sockets. Tried to cancel and told it would cost £200 because our services were live when they weren't. Wasted 3 hours on the phone to them overall, waste of time.

If there was an option for zero stars i would have clicked on that, because that is what I get for my hard earned £20 a month-NOTHING!!!!

The connection will go every 20 minutes every day, every 20 minutes. I have to travel to my parents house to use the internet to complete assignments, as I am a student.

I phoned up to get help on numerous occasions. At first I was told, I had to pay £60 for an engineer to come to mine- which i refused as the problem lies with them-why should I have to pay.

Then he offered to upgrade to fibre optics and add £7.50 to my bill every month. NO!

then he said okay what do you want me to do now?!!! I said sort my internet out!

Then I tried to cancel! tried to charge me £250!!!

I am disgusted with the service! it's like some type of con! Bloody day light robbery and I cant do anything about it!

The only positive is the phone line which seems good.

Avoid at all cost really bad service. Been with Talktalk for a few years, had regular issues with my standard broadband it kept loosing Internet. Decided to upgrade to fibre large and the TV service. What a mistake was given a go live date of 19th Jan 2015, on the day an engineer turned up outside the appointment times installed the router tested the line and left saying the broadband will come live anytime upto midnight. Guess what no internet, contacted Talktalk who stated they had made some adjustments, told me to switch off the router for 20 minutes then turn it back on and all my problems would be solved. Not a chance, they sent an engineer 2 days later who found that a splitter card in the box down the road was faulty. The engineer did not have a replacement card with him, so put it on a priority for next day repair. Phoned Talktalk to confirm what time to expect the engineer, they could not give us an update for 24 hours. Was promised an engineer would be with between 0800 and 1300 hours on the Friday 23rd. Telephone Talktalk as no engineer arrived now to be told not able to source a replacement card for 1 month and if we wanted to cancel the order that they could not fulfill we would have to pay £400 cancellation fee. Do not trust Talktalk avoid at all costs

Countless problems with both internet and phone line. Takes hours to using phone to actually speak to anyone and they hang up and have to start all over again. Same happens with talktalk chat they just disconnect you and you have to start all over again. I also recieved 16 cold calls in the one day. When i used who called me it says it talktalk sales team. How idiotic can you be when i am already a customer. If you cancel payment because it doesn't work they threaten you with debt collectors. Sales teams are UK based but if you have any issues all technical help and complaints is India and they are near impossible to understand. They are also rude and if you as soon as you get a bit wound up with the slow progress they just disconnect you. Amateur outfit. DO NOT USE TALKTALK!!!

Worst provider ever. plus tv package ties you down for 24months. initially before apparantly agreeing to this i was receiving 14mb. Ever since recieving 1.9mb. The youview box is slow and rarely works as the internet speed is so slow. Impossible to leave mid-contract as the only way to void contract is to have an unresolved ticket open for 28days. every time you complain the agent just closes the ticket anyway so you can never achieve this. every time i have phoned customer service the least amount of time i have been on hold is 15minutes. Would recommend anyone looking to join should go sky or bt instead

I live in a very small flat and we cannot use the internet anywhere apart from the room the router is in. I have had three very long conversations with TalkTalk staff, one of whom hung up on me when he decided he didn't know how to help. The only advice I have been given is to pay more for fibre. Absolutely terrible service.

I have been with Talk Talk since September 2014 and signed up to the broadband and phone plan. I had few problems and was happy with the service.

In December, I decided to upgrade to the 18 month Broadband, Phone and Plus TV plan at £9.50 a month plus line rental for 12 months. I explained to the agent that I was away for Xmas and they said that the TV box would be held at my local post office for me to pick up when I arrived home. I arrived home and had no tv box. I emailed the delivery company and did not get a reply. I also realised that Talk Talk had charged me just over £35 for the plan and emailed talk talk customer service who replied saying that the plan was £35 and if I wanted a discount then I should pay line rental up from for a year and then would get a discount on line rental.

Obviously I was annoyed and frustrated at this as the plan I had signed up to was the advertised discount price of £9.50 plus line rental for 12 months. I then phoned up Talk Talk (January) who told me that the half price plan had been cancelled for no reason but that they would renew it for me with the discounted price for 12 months on an 18 month contract and that they would refund me the difference. I also explained that I had not received my tv box and they said that I should receive it soon.

I then rang again around a week later as I could not see that my plan had changed and they said that the system would not let them change it to 12 months only six months and that I would need to ring up in six months time to add another six months on. I said that I was not happy with this and they said that there was nothing that they could do. I explained that I had still not received my tv box and they said that it had only just been sent and that I needed to be patient.

I then rang up a week later explaining that I had still not received my tv box that I was being charged for and the agent said it had been cancelled in December for no reason and that he would re-send it. I also explained that I was unhappy as I should have a discounted plan for 12 months and not 6. The agent said that he would speak to his manager and do me a great deal and came back offering me a discounted plan for five months. This is when I went high pitched and asked to speak to the manager as I should already be on a 12 month discount and he was offering me a lower time than the six months I was already on and the agent said I was not to worry and that he would do me a great deal without me speaking to a manager. The agent came back and said that he had put me on the 18 month contract for a discounted price for 12 months, re-sent the tv box and an engineer would be with me next Monday. Basically what I had signed up for in December. I phoned a few days later asking how the engineer was going to fit the tv box without a tv box as I had still not received it. The agent asked me if I wanted a tv box as it had been cancelled in December. I asked to speak to a manager who was very rude to me and asked if I wanted the tv box as it had been cancelled. Again I explained that I had not cancelled it and that I had been charged for a service I had not received so she gave me a £5 discount. The manager then put me onto the 'loyality department'. The agent re-sent me a tv box, put me on an 18 month contract with 12 months discount.... that was today. I'll update what happens.

In short Talk Talk are outrageous and have no customer service skills. They cancel your plan for no reason, cancel deliveries for no reason, charge you for a service you do not have and when you speak to a manager they are rude and transfer you to a different department because they do not want to deal with your call.

In general, I don't complain but this service had been so unbelievable that I have had too!

We took out Talk Talk Essentials package in my wife's name but I paid for it up front. We agreed a monthly payment of £5 pm with broadband to be installed 2 December and TV 6 December. They failed to show up so they then had to cancel TV installation. Broadband finally arrived 16 December. Tv still not installed ans it's 24 January. Many missed appointments have passed and in between they unilaterally increased the payments to £8.50 pm. We have emailed and written to them. They have done nothing. What they have done is post us our TV kit (when we paid for installation). It doesn't instal.

Talk Talk are inept. Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced and they are without doubt the most useless provider of broadband and TV in the market. I would urge anyone contemplating using them to go to any other provider because they will be in a different league to Talk Talk. I regret engaging them. I would never use them again they have been absolutely hopeless and haven't even provide the full service for which we contracted nearly two months down the line.

For the sake of your sanity if you are a gamer do not subscribe to TalkTalk. Connection is too slow with plenty of disconnections just to keep things interesting. Quite often the connection is so bad I can even use Skype.

Also, according to their customer service, this is normal...

Their customer service is shocking. It is awful. I work as a consultant at carphone warehouse and call on customers behalves. I called to cancel a new order. (not even connected yet) and was pass through multiple people. Hung up on twice and SHOUTED AT BY THEIR WORKER. Working in customer service myself I think this is appalling. The person I spoke to was called muhammad and was in new orders department. Disgusting service.

Talk are the biggest crooks I have ever dealt with!, At the end of every month from the beginning of 2014 I have had to call Talk Talk to complain the broadband speed has dropped to 0.5 these calls could take up to two hours attempting to follow an Indian contact who barely speaks English after approx. 4 hours the speed returns to 5. Three visits from engineers confirm the exchange server is not capable of supplying the number of customers on it. Eventually the broadband drops out all together after two months of trying to get it reinstated, I went to another provider, these people are incompetent, dishonest and in my opinion taking money under false pretences, complaining to the CEO Manager in Southampton, I met a new bunch of incompetent idiots who suggested another engineer came to my house, I explained again the fault lies in the exchange and not to send an engineer, I then got a bill for a cancelled engineer, Talk Talk should be investigated by an outside government department, Crook, Liars, Fraudsters!. Incidentally on changing my provider, my broadband speed went immediately to 16, so much for faulty telephone lines etc.

When things are fine, TalkTalk are good. When things go wrong, however, prepare yourself for a world of stress.

I lost my broadband connection on New Year's Eve. On ringing customer service, there was a recorded announcement which was no help. (What is a microfilter anyway?). On the third try, I got through to a human. Like almost all the other people I eventually got through to, he was next to no help, and hard to understand (Indian call centre, yes?). He, along with others, kept insisting I needed a separate phone line to speak on. I explained my mobile was in for repair and I had no other number to use, but they kept going on about it. I HAD TO SPEND £50 TO GET A PHONE JUST TO SPEAK TO THEM. I'm autistic with mental health issues, and their constant reading of scripts in strong accents just stressed me more. One person was very helpful and I thought the problem was solved, but it went down again the next day. The excuses were unbelievable - one even said their network didn't support my device (so how come everything had been fine with it for the last nine months?) and asked if a washing machine was nearby (microwaves I can understand, but washing machines?) In other words, everything except it being their fault. When I asked one member of staff to repeat or clarify what he said, he sounded sarcastic and unhelpful. The whole episode caused me a lot of stress - I don't really have a real world social network, nearly all my socialising and activism is done online. When you've worked a 12-hour shift, the last thing you need is to have to spend an hour on the phone to TalkTalk and listen to irrelevant and unhelpful advice from people you struggle to understand.

Now I know why people looked at me strangely when I said I was with TalkTalk, and why they have such a bad reputation.

At the time of writing this I have been on the phone 5hrs! I have been fobbed off to India, Philippines, south Africa, and finally UK. Have wasted a day's earnings waiting for an engineer who hadn't tuned up! My advice is don't bother. Now I am stuck with a bill of £230.00 Ariel installation which if I go to sky I will not need!
