Technical support is good once you get to 2nd level, but you spend hours on hold & talking to someone in India who works from a script:- "try switching off & on again. Are you using a master socket? etc the call is free!

Do not go with this company. Above all else, the customer service is atrocious.
I phoned to find out when my contract was due to end and was told 17th March, but after that date it would continue on a month by month basis and I may be charged if I move house!!
What a cheek, when I have only signed up for a 12 month contract.

I was then transferred to another 'team' - sounded like a group of people chatting to each other loudly in a shack somewhere.
The advisor couldn't understand a single thing I said and just kept going silent - she didn't seem to have even a basic grasp of English.

This is not a company who have any morals whatsoever when it comes to the treatment of staff or their customers, clearly.

I would certainly not sign up with them again.

Only been a customer for one day, got broadband but no phone. Got through to the Phillipines, waited one and a half hours, whilst she spoke in hard to understand English and did some tests. Then asked me if I had a screwdriver to undo some screws in the connection socket! Seemed surprised when i said I had no intention of fiddling with the socket, asked if anyone else could do it, again surprised when I said no. Then offered me an engineers appointment in 9 days time. Why oh why did I change providers!!! On line now waiting for a manager.

This is not on the whim review. I have been a TalkTalk customer for the last 2 years and these are my final thoughts.

They have some of the lowest prices for broadband and telephone lines. But if you are someone who regards customer service as an important part of your experience, or expect their technical people to HAVE technical knowledge or DO NOT expect a telephone provider to have a noisy and crackling customer service line, then look away and look somewhere else. TalkTalk is not that company.

Their staff would lie to you, give you confusing information and follow it up with a different set of information in an email. In the past two years, I've been on the phone with them about 5 times for different problems and every time I was on the phone for anything between 3 to 5 hours (which is like a whole day) because I had to bang my head against many brick wall before they could understand or resolve my issue.

I don't know what other companies are like. They all promise the world I guess but how much they deliver I can't say. But I CAN say for sure about TalkTalk that they don't deliver their promise. If nothing goes wrong in the service then your ok but it if it does then you will know what I am talking about.

Broadband connection was fine howeve there customer service team in India is without doubt the worst I have ever came across.

I called to in May giving the required notice of 1 month as I was leaving the property in June. To my surprise I then received a bill on 10th July trying to charge me for the following the month.

Calling through the call centre is a horrid experience. They claimed I had never called to cancel , basically calling me a liar , and that the only record they have of me calling is in April (I had never called them in April , or infact at all prior to May).

After being passed to 4 separate people and having to repeat the issue AND customer details every single time it was finally cancelled. This took approximately 2 hours.

They claim the account is now cancelled and no further charges will be applied. I am not holding out much hope that this is infact the case......

Seriously stick with Virgin/Sky/BT. Its not worth the hassle.

I had TT BB for over a year without much trouble. Then I upgraded to the TV package..... TT slowed my BB from a rock solid 17 to about 8. When I phoned them they said its was the DLM that had picked up a problem on my line. I them went through months of messing about tooing and froing. I then stopped using the TV and my internet connection speed recovered without any fix. The You View box they supplied needs to be restarted every other day as it locks up. The wireless router will only allow wireless devices to connect for about a day, it also then needs to be restarted. Honestly I would say TT are the worst BB supplier I have ever used. I will not use them ever again even if they where giving it away free.

Their internet service itself is not too bad while it is working. But I am currently have a fault outside my home and have no broadband at the moment. I have reported a fault 9 days ago, already had 2 engineer visits booked and they did not turn up both times, and now I have third one booked. Will they turn up??? I will definitely consider to find broadband provider who can fix their faults within few days, not weeks.

Absolutely disgusted with TalkTalk and their behaviour this week.

I phoned them to cancel my broadband and phone because I am moving house in a week (at very short notice), and I would like to go with Fuel as my provider at my new house. My minimum contract period has expired and I'm now on a rolling 30 day contract, so I fully accepted I would need to give 30 days notice or pay 30 days charges. However, I asked that they disconnect my line on my moving date next week and they refused - apparently they will only disconnect the line after the 30 day notice period has expired, leaving my phoneline wide open to the new occupiers. The operator even suggested that I should "ask the new occupier to kindly not make calls on the line for the next 3 weeks."

The only way I could get them to disconnect my line when I moved out was to take out a new 18 month phone and broadband package with them at my new address! I don't want an 18 month contract and I won't want to stay with TalkTalk! Surely this must be illegal!

    Avoid this company.

This company is the worst. There customer services is the worst i have ever dealt with. They are patronising unhelpful and do not listen they will talk over you as though they are just reading from a script. Television never works or is slow and never loads. Internets not too bad but not as quick as virgin or sky at all. I would avoid this company spend a bit more because although tqlk talk is cheap you pay for what you get a cheap service

Prior to switching to TalkTalk I contacted them requesting my existing telephone number which I have kept through 5 different providers with no problem.
After the switch over no boddy could contact me and I soon realised they had changed my number with absolutely no information of new number.
I contacted them via online chat and was passed through 3 different people who obviously could stand my annoyance. I was told that the reason was because the old number belonged to last company (I had it before them) and because I didn't ask for it (I did).
Then I rang and spoke to 3 different people who just kept passing me on to the next after them not appeasing me to the reason. I found it very difficult to understand them. I managed to get a complaint registered but then the phone cut off (or hung up on me).
Someone rang me last night and once again I really struggled to understand their accent from abroad somewhere.
I was told the reason I didn't keep my number was again because I didn't request porting of the number (is a land line a mobile?).
Then asked if they could cancel the complaint? What? Absolutely not. He asked if I accepted £10 in credit could the cancel? I politely told them under no circumstances and requested to speak to a person from UK. I was told no.
Overall the broadband is slowish but I didn't expect anything more due to my location on a new estate. The customer service is terrible, hard to understand and arrogant with I sensed a dislike of the the customer.
    Next year TalkTalk is binned.

If you take a broadband deal out with a gift voucher assigned to the deal you may not get it for no fault of your own. I was promised a £75 gift voucher within 90 days with did not transpire and when you ring up you get no satisfaction what so ever. Be aware!!!

As far as during last 2 years I had issue only once with my internet connection and I couldn't complain before, today I have change my mind completely. Tried to close my account as moving to a new property where the internet is provided. Couldn't do it on their website as the continue button didn't work, tried online chat and after 20 mins of thousand of questions I have been given the number to call as this is a procedure(such a waste of my time they could tell me that before!). Tried to call the number 3 times, every time I finally manage to speak to someone it disconnected me and went silent from nowhere! 4th time, speaking to a lady who were speaking fast and completely not clear, so I told her to speak slower and she started to almost spell the words like I am an idiot which I told her to speak slower and she treated me like I am an idiot. While talking about my situation with cancelling SHE WAS YAWNING INTO THE PHONE!!! Very rude, very unprofessional and won't be recommending TalkTalk to anyone anymore as I used to before after such a bad experience.

When talk talk first entered the market, I joined,as their price was cheap, but that time they left me with no phone line for 3 months, and kept telling me the fault was my end, the fault was in fact in the outside cable! They put new cabbleing, said they would remove the old one but never did.
As I was caring for a disabled child and needed a operational phone line, and was paying for a phone line I could not use in a emergency, I suffered so much stress, which was not helped by poor almost impossible to get hold of customer service, it took hours and a visit to the shop associated with the company to use their internal phone, for more hours. as I'd payed £40 allready and got nowhere, and ran out of money! Then they sent a engineer whilst I was miles away in said shop and said I was the problem, I had to drag my disabled child to a shop and sit there for hours, administering medication, and was not able to return home quick enough. I did receive my money back about a year or so after I got out of my contract early and having to pay for that privilege!!!!!
Jump upto now I was searching for a cheaper broadband deal 9 months ago, I was under the impression that all the time that has passed improvements would have been made, so I took out a new contract, initially i was not provided with the voucher incentive and had to chase that! Then they changed the package I had within 6 months, billed me irregurly put data package on my bill, but it then took four hours, talking with their chat and being on hold for a hour only to be cut off by their end, and after I spoke to four people, none off them could understand my bill, even when I asked to speak to a manager, it appears they did not charge me fully one month, then added the underpayment
onto the next, how do you manage a budget like that!
Years ago I said never again, and I should have never taken out a new contract, their customer service needs a vast amount of improvement, and after all the time that has passed since I was last with them, I don't hold out any hope of ever seeing this happen!

I have had such shocking service from TalkTalk, it’s not even funny. The internet didn’t work to begin with and it took them a long time to get an engineer out. Then we’ve had a problem with our tv and it’s been months of arranging an engineer, said engineer not being able to get here because of the snow, rearranging and him never turning up (even though he said he couldn’t gain access to the building but there were no knocks at the door and with two people in the house waiting for his arrival!), then rearranging and AGAIN him not turning up, only to discover they hadn’t actually booked him in when they said they had. All of these situations have weeks and weeks in between, and now it’s been months without the issue being resolved.

I’ve actually cancelled my contract and decided it’s worth paying the money to get rid of this atrocious service. It’s been a waste of 4 months, especially having people wait in for hours at a time for an engineer who never turns up.

I cannot even give 1 star for customer services... the initial offer was made and not honoured - which took over 3 months of murderously detailed and repeated phone calls, some lasting 3 hours, to sort out...I refused to let them get away with it. This happened TWICE - when I moved house. Never, ever again will I be so stupid to engage with TalkTalk. You have been warned.

I went with talk talk thinking that fibroptic wave band should not cause problems... a big mistake, I must say! You tube , netflix and internet have their moment , a bit too often for my liking. So I call them , a lovely lady apologies and say she will increase the signal ( what ? On fibroptic ? ) anyway somehow it gets better but within weeks, the same problem starts all over again. I dont want to have to call regularly to remind those people that I expect what I paid for and I am counting the days for my contract to finish and go with more serious providers.. honestly!

Having had 3 duplicated on line orders because no connection I complained and said speed wasn’t an issue it was disruption of connection. I received detailed instructions about connecting to a TV which I don’t do and plugging phone line directly into router which it is. Roll on end of contract.

    Greedy scammers.

As my contract was ending, I called them so that it wouldn't renew. They said it would be cancelled, yet it wasn't. I was moved to a different, more expensive contract anyway. When I called to cancel again, they said they knew I'd called to cancel a month ago, but they had no idea why it wasn't cancelled. So now I have to pay a cancellation fee and pay for the broadband for another month or two.

    Utter scum!

Speeds are slow (on the lower end of what's advertised), generally reliable. However, the biggest issue with Talk Talk is their customer service. Agents, although generally very nice, have little to no power to actually help; every single enquiry will last at least an hour, often closer to two hours. They will take every opportunity to squeeze as much money from you as possible. They will try to charge you extra or extend your contract as much as possible. They don't expect you to notice or kick up a fuss and they will disregard their own terms and conditions if it means they can try to charge you for another month. We were their customers for almost 2 years. Never again

Have been with talktalk for years it's only when something goes wrong you find you cannot speak to anyone. My home phone has not been working for a month , then done so called checks on line and told us it was our equipment so bought new phones still they did not work eventually they said their was a fault on line , this is all done through text or automated phone calls . They like to speak to you when trying to sell you something ! My last update text was 4 days ago telling me they would update me in 48 hours ! .
And they have put up my line rental from £137 to £180 this must be the most expensive line rental ever.

The saying quality not quantity sparks to mind with talk talk. Although their broadband and landline deals are stated to be as good as other providers but just cheaper is complete rubbish. Their WiFi signal is low and non-existent most of the time. Also when you try and call customer service for help you get no help but rather attitude and rude replies. I would rather pay a bit extra and have less of the hassle!

Internet connection frequently dropped; customer services poor. The only aspect that is adequate is the broadband speed (on the rare occasion that you are actually connected to the internet).

I have TalkTalk TV, Broadband and Mobile Phone.
Everything was fine with not many problems during the first year.
I had a letter from carphone warehouse (TalkTalks phone supplier) to say that their computers had been hacked and customer records had been stolen, I took this letter to my bank to check that my account was OK.
For security reasons my bank stopped all direct debits from TalkTalk, I did confirm this with TalkTalk, instantly the placed a £4 charge on all of my contracts £12 per month.
On various occasions I have gone on line to pay my billa with my credit card only to receive a message to say that the page I want is unavailable due to maintenence, because my payment did not go through on that day they charged £10 per contract as a missed payment call, the day after This I had 27 missed calls from Talktalk (I was at work so missed them) all demanding payment.
I paid the bill early in the morning on the day after the due bill.
I called the Talktalk call centre as this is the only wa you can contact, there are no email addresses etc on their website, only to be insulted by them by being told that I had not paid the bill on time so they cut me off.
Within the hour my mobile phone goes dead (the bill has been paid at this time)then more phone calls from India.
I can't wait until my contracts run out then it is goodbye to talktalk, the do not care for their customers they are only interested in your money, miss a payment by 1 day and you are bombarded by calls from India demanding an instant payment over the phone,, Sorry Talktalk I will not give my credit card details to someone who phoned me over the phone, the caller could be anyone attempting to get your details.
Rant over, get your act together TalkTalk.

There is a massive issue with their customer service. After many phone calls about our ridiculously slow broadband, a completely useless brightsparks engineer was sent out who basically confirmed that the issue was outside the property and that there was nothing he could do about it. He said that they would get a bt openreach engineer to look at the problem. He said that an engineer would go to the exchange in the next 48-72
hours and that i would get updates by text. That same night the issue was closed and had supposedly been resolved. I'm now having to go through exactly the same process over again with countless line tests etc. because if talktalk book a bt openreach engineer without doing these checks i will be charged for the engineers callout, even if there is a fault.

I was after canceling talk talk to join plus net, i was told to ring talk talk up 30 day before the anniversary date,,so i did. to be then told that there was going to be a Termination fee of 80+ pound!!!!!! but the contract ends in 30 days .

I was then told I can cancel after that date for free but then I would have to pay a extra month!!!!.

Truly awful customer service. The Indian call centre is dreadful - it's like talking to a robot as they go through their script, asking the same question several times. Their own engineer - when he finally came out - was unable to fix the problem. The BT Open Reach engineer eventually fixed it, but it took almost a month to get to that point. As soon as I'm convinced someone else is better, I will be switching ISP.
