I've been with TalkTalk a while and up until now was reasonably satisfied. The only downside to the actual service was slowish pings, but the actual transfer speeds were ok.

However, the main problem is their appalling customer service. When everything was woring fine - they keep calling to ask how good you think their service is (and probably to try to get you to upgrade your package, although they never get that long on the line with me).

When you have a fault it's a different story. My service has been down for over 3 weeks (damage to the phone line so not TalkTalk's fault). I have spent numerous hours calling them from my mobile to try to get it fixed. The customer reps talk over you, keep telling you "not to worry it'll be fixed in a couple of days", never call back as they promise and seem entirely unable to deal with a fault without you having to go through the entire history from the start. My fault has now been escalated so many times it must be on the moon. Nothing ever actually gets done to fix it though.

So when things are working it's a fair service at a good price, but when things go wrong their customer service is atrocious.

I had app booked to fix my problem with broadband. in meantime the service was back on, so I rang talk talk to say that is no more need for the energineer to come over. I have been told by lady I spoke to that I will be charged £30 for cancellation , because I am calling after 3pm. She suggested to keep this appointment as I don't have 30 pounds to pay as single mum of 2. So I have kept the app. Fallowing morning the energineer rang me 5 min before arriving. I said that all service is back on so he will have nothing to do here. He said fair enough, thank you for letting me know. I have been still charged £30 and no one seems to be kind enough in customer service to admit that I shouldn't been charge.I am really crossed and upset with talk talk. Won't recommend to anyone.

After very stupidly passing over to TalkTalk from Sky I have never had such a bad service and customer experience in my life . With sky i was getting an average of 11.5 mbps and never lower than 9 mbps but with these CLOWNS it started out with 4.2 mbps and the highest that they have got to was 7,49 mbps . Now for the area that I live in that is not acceptable even with o2 it was never under 9 mbps . So I tried calling their customer service to get something sorted out 2 days after my service went live but after speaking to a very hard to understand (not UK based call center) agent i was told that I would be passed over to the management team . After 45 minutes I realised that they left me hanging on the line until after 8 pm which is the closing time , very clever . I called up Sky the next morning and they were very helpful to tell me about the procedure to go about to get it cancelled and I thank you very much for that Sky team ...
PLEASE BE CAREFUL BECAUSE THE COOLING OFF PERIOD FROM TALKTALK IS FROM THE DAY YOU TAKE OUT THE CONTRACT SO, READ THE FINE PRINT IN THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. 14 Days is the cooling off period . People don't be fooled into a bad service go to SKY they are the business and they know what they are doing .

One word- appalling. The Internet speed is extremely slow even in the same room as the router. Called numberous amounts of times but they always say my connection speed looks fine over the phone. No matter how much you stress the problem to this company, they simply don't care. They are all money money and provide terrible products. I am glad I am have their broadband deal, as it causes more than enough stress. Pay that little bit extra for better quality!

I wish there was a lower rating i could put, the internet cuts out all the time, just randomly, internet is slow even over cable never mind wirelessly, was talking to my friend about TalkTalk and he had the same problem with his, two potatoes with a wire connecting them could do a better job.
I also have a sim with TalkTalk and yes as you would expect from them, signal is terrible, where people can get 4G I can hardly look up a site on the internet. TalkTalk are shocking and I wouldn't recommend to anyone. I wouldn't go back to them if someone paid me.
Their customer service isn't the best either, you phone up and wait for half an hour and when they pick up its someone from a different country and you cant understand a word their saying. We phoned about slow broadband and they saw that ours were very slow and they said they would fix the problem and get back to us. Obviously they didn't because its TalkTalk, what do you expect? My opinion? Take out broadband with BT, they actually have people in our country who speak English as a first language, and also you get extras like BT hotspots all around the UK.
    Hope i helped!!

Worst cutomer service I hav ever received from any supplier in my whole life.
I took talk talk connection because there was a good deal but a couple of months later my discount was taken away and I was being charged more than I agreed. I did not notice it first because I had a direct debit set up but then I rang them and I was told that the dal I had taken was has expired. I asked them why would I take a deal for it expire only 2 months after the contract started. After a discussion I was given the extra money charged as a credit over the time of my contract.Recently (after being with talk talk for 1 year) I moved out of the property and wanted to know my options. I could take the coneection to my new accomodation as it was temporary and there was already internet connection there so I could either cancel the contract by paying around £180 or hold the account till the end of January to be moved over to my permanent accomodation. I was told there would be no chanrges while the account is on hold. Then I got an email from talk talk saying someone is taking over my line. I rang again and was told that because someone has moved to the property where I was living and they want to take over the line and that my contract with talk talk would stay the same and I will be given a new line when I move the services to my permanent accomodation. I again confirmed whether I could still hold the account till the end of January and I was told yes and that there are no charges. A few days later, got an email with a bill of £75 so I rang again and was told that this is contract breakage fee. I said to the customer service adviser that I had not broken the contract and that I will be taking the services to my permanent accomodation by the end of January. He said it is automatically generated bill and that I dont have to worry about it. A couple of days late money was taken from my account so I rang back again only to be told that my contract with talk talk has been cancelled. I was shocked to hear that because I was repeatedly told that my account was on hold. This time I was told that if I take a new contract with talk talk I will be refunded this fee but that would mean that I will have to sign up for another 18 month contract at a price higher than my previous contract price. I have spoken to customer service managers since then and no one has admitted to their mistake. They are insisting that they were right to concel my contract because line was taken over by some other provider. I would have been ok with the fee only of I was given this information when I spoke to the customer service adviser. Finally I was told that this issue will be escalated to the senior manager and was given a reference number. I was told that I will get a call back in 2 days but didn't get any call so I rang again and was told that there has been no response yet from senior management and that I will get a call back the same day or the day after. Again no call as expected, so I rang again today and got the same response but this time I was told that they couldn't give me any response time and they couldnt pass me on to someone else becasue there is no one senior to the customer service manager. I will not recommend the service to anyone after what I have been through.

Had phone line and broadband with Tisscali and TalkTalk for over 10 years. Last summer broad band was off more than on. Spoke to lots people from Indian sub continent difficult to understand refused "help from engineer " at £50 a time to check line, I was on the phone at the time!! Told the last person I've had enough I'm changing provider back to BT. Now I'm being chased for £200 for the rest of my "unsignrd contract" They broke the contract by denying me broadband for so long. Now being chased by a debt agency who are sympathetic because they are getting false information from TalkTalk. What a terrible company to deal with.

After the storms that happened in 2013 we were left with no Sky as the connection had problems. We therefore decided to move to talk talk. Best believe since my mum decided to change over to them I have not watched TV as the one time I did the connection was crap the show I was watching kept freezing and going funny it was an absolute i joke so I asked my sister if this was a regular thing which it was. The broadband is the slowest thing as the tv uses it and if people are using their phones on wifi it's even slower. I spent half hour trying to reload big brother last night because the connection was so bad I nearly smashed my iPad. Last week we finally signed up to Sky as we had completed 12 months with TalkTalk only to find out that our contract was actually 18 months which no one had advised us of! The lady on the phone was extremely useless and rude. They seriously need to just shut down the whole situation and stick to telephone DONT know why they even bothered bringing out tv if they can't even keep up with the competition absolutely shocked at how bad everything about tall talk is. If you want to save yourself the stress from slow phones, missing shows, and spending hours reloading or waiting around for a connection then please please please do not go with talk talk I can guarantee you will be writing a review like so soon otherwise. :) sorry talk talk if the truth hurts

Ps by just reading the other reviews I knew I was not being out of order when writing this

    Disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joined Talk Talk at the beginning of December....was supposed to go 2 weeks after. The engineer came round unable to do anything and said that the line was not connected (fair enough). Phoned Talk Talk and explained I needed the line to be connected "Yes Sir, Verry Sorry Sir, No problem Sir", 3 weeks later they send out another engineer who tells me exactly the same thing "the line has not been connected", "can you not connect" I ask him, "no, it's not on my job sheet" is the answer I get.
By this time I am more than than a little frustrated but kept my cool and phoned up Talk Talk for a Third Time!!...this time I was quite hopeful as the person I spoke to seam to understand the very simple fact that I needed my line to be connected!.... Today is the 21st of Jan (8weeks on) and despite being on the phone to Talk Talk for well over an hour....the Third engineer has just come and told me YET AGAIN the same same thing, "your line is not connected and it's not in my job sheet to do so"!!!!!!
Take my advice....Stay as far away from Talk Talk as possible!!!!!!!!!!!

For the sake of your sanity do not speak to Talk Talk! I made that mistake in order to discuss prices because my current contract with another provider is soon coming to an end so I wanted to shop around before making a decision whether to stay with them or not. The sales guy I spoke to seemed very knowledgeable and although I told him three times that I was just making enquiries at that stage I stupidly allowed him to agree an engineers date with me on 2nd March which gave me plenty of time to cancel within the 14 day cooling off period shoukd I not wish to proceed. Big mistake! Next day I'm receiving emails from Talk Talk saying that an additional engineers visit to fit fibre had been arranged for 2nd February, well before my current contract expires! In the first instance I contacted my current supplier to discuss ongoing cost with them should I wish to stay with then only to be told that my contract with them was in cancellation mode notified by Talk Talk and that, as such, they were unable to give me prices until the cancellation order had been retracted by TT. I hope you're keeping up! I was on the phone to TT 45 minutes on Saturday trying to get this sorted and eventually agreed that a manager would call me within 24-48 hours. Not surprisingly this did not happen so I had to call again and was eventually put through to a manager (I've lost count by this time how many times I've had to explain the situation) who seemed not the slightest concerned about my experience but did, in the end, give me a cancellation number. I have since received an email confirming this cancellation but also explaining that a hub is already on its way and that I should return it so I'm looking forward to that!
Unfortunately, however, that's not the end of it. I gave myself a couple of days to recover and then, this morning, phone my current provider to discuss ongoing costs only to be told that my account is still in cancellation mode with them and I have to wait three days before contacting them again. Thank you very much Talk Talk - I can ŵell do without spending the time it's taken to write this but I feel all you good people out there should be warned!

They've been taking ever increasing amounts of money from me and not provided me with a service for months. Thanks to them I've lost out on so much work I'm facing homelessness. They refuse to stop charging me after my contact expires and want to charge me more to cancel after it expires. No advice for months yet they pretend that it's all working.

    Customer service is rubbish.
I have called them and was told someone would call me back that did not happen I had to call them back. Then I had to repeat the same information 3 times. Which was just drama. I do not understand if these calls are recorded or you make notes why do I have to explain myself. Then I am on hold and I can hear everthing that is being said in the background. What kind of service are you offering people. An to top it off I left you in October it is now January 2015, and I am still getting bills, an you are putting charges on my account. I really think. That once a person has left your company that you should finalise the last bill 30 days after they left not 3 months later. I will never go back to talk talk and I would not be recommending them to anyone. Customer Service appalling. Staff need to go on Customer Service course and get an NVQ Level 1.

Talktalk Tv and broadband does not live up to all the claims although I now have Fibre Optic Broadband at £10 per month extra a Month I still get buffering. I have another 12 months left on my contract and it would cost £470 odd pound to terminate early. When I took out the contract I was told it was for 18 Months however this ended up as 24 months. Customer service is absolutely hopeless when I do finally get to talk to someone you end up going round the houses without solving any problems, I have carried out report and fix but this comes back telling me everything is working normally. I could not recommend TalkTalk to any one. My son is with Virgin Media he is more than happy with the service he gets, I may look at this when my contract ends.

This is my first ever review which i wrote, so unfair treatment i never met before, during 12 months contract Talk Talk company raised monthly payment twice, it's not about money, it's just £2.2 but about honesty, broadband is so slow to, uploading photos takes ages, never again.

Awful company... do not touch them, their customer service skills are non existent and they are holey incompetent.

We moved house after our contract with talktalk ended and switched to virgin, everything was fine until 3 months down the line we get letter from a bailiff saying we owe talktalk £96.... after several hours on the phone with them and trying to explain that we had cancelled I eventuality got through to a manager who said that because I hadn't 'officially' cancelled there was nothing he could do. I had informed them that I wanted to cancel using the online chat service and my request was kindly accepted by the customer service agent I was chatting to!

Despite all this they still maintain I had to pay but agreed to reduce the fee by £20 as they could see that a mistake had been made on their behalf.....

I would strongly advice anyone to stay well away from this cowboy outfit.

Our experience on TALKTALK is by far the worst among all other providers like BT or Virgin. Firstly, every time we called the customer service, they are not at all professional in their knowlege, the information given us was incorrect and whatever they said okok, was actually not. When we called them again to reconfirm our requests, we found out that it has not been done as requested. So we have to tell the whole story again and again for a few times. The staff is not knowlegeable and they tell you the wrong information. The speed of broadband is not as good, it stopped from time to time. When we complained about it, all they suggested was to upgrade our plan to fibre or there is nothing they can do. Waste our time and money. We decided quit TALKTALK in the middle of our contract even though we need to pay £180 for cancellation fee. We would prefer joining those who has a good customer service and has a heart to provide really good service to customers.

after reading the many negative reviews on here it makes me happy as I now know I am not the only one that talk talk has practically held me to ransom and caused so much stress......I wont go into the exact problem but everything everyone else is saying is exactly how I experienced it....frustrating, inept customer service...I have never in my life felt so stressed when I have tried to have my problem solved, you literally feel like screaming....surely something should be done about this company, I cannot understand how they are getting away with it.....DO NOT GO WITH TALK TALK

Have been with talktalk for years it's only when something goes wrong you find you cannot speak to anyone. My home phone has not been working for a month , then done so called checks on line and told us it was our equipment so bought new phones still they did not work eventually they said their was a fault on line , this is all done through text or automated phone calls . They like to speak to you when trying to sell you something ! My last update text was 4 days ago telling me they would update me in 48 hours ! .
And they have put up my line rental from £137 to £180 this must be the most expensive line rental ever.

The speed is variable, it moves from 39-52-24-5.5-2 mbps inside of 1 minute. A constant speed 2mbps+ is necessary to stream television. Constant buffering, freezing, cutting out, basically useless. The connection breaks regularly and at times can't be found again leaving me without an internet connection for 24 hours. When I call talktalk they are less rude than they used to be but they now do 'tests' (they are keen that you call them back on your mobile) then say the only option is for an engineer to come out to check their 'wiring' but that they will check my set up and that I must accept that a payment of £60 will be due if the problem is found to be inside the house. I know very little about this technology and will not agree to this as I cannot argue a case against their decision. The connection has come back mysteriously later or the next day. I travel to Europe with my laptop and have difficulties receiving emails into live mail. This I am advised is something to do with the blocks talktalk use. Hopeless, hopeless. Do not touch them.

Initial set-up was ok, very persuasive doorstep sales person, package seemed good deal, so I signed up, I then changed my mind within the 14 day'cooling off' period and rang them to cancel, they made it virtually impossible to do and following the final hour long conversation with them(I made several phone calls in all) in which the guy literally 'talk talked' my head off I gave in (yet again) and stayed signed up with them for the year.Broadband was slow and unreliable compared to Sky who I had previously been with, when the 12 months was up was glad to return to Sky who fixed everything up and gave me new contract dates, prices, set-up details etc all with one easy phone call. They said 'no real need to contact Talk Talk' and they would sort out my cancellation easily as my 12 month contract had now expired anyway. However out of courtesy I did contact Talk Talk who initially hung up on me when the guy heard of my intentions, four phone calls later after being 'cut off' as well four times Talk Talk begrudgingly agreed that my contract would be ended in a months time (which I already knew) despite their concerted efforts to prevent this. They are a greedy company with poor service and zero customer service skills, they also try to use bullying tactics to keep their customers signed up, wake up Talk Talk, this approach just doesn't work.

TalkTalk Fibre Broadband is the worst broadband I've ever used. I pay for 76mb/s and i can using this speed just between 10AM - 2PM, and from 2AM - 5AM. If you like playing in multiplayer games [like WOW, Dota, Counter Strike, GTA] in any normal time (it mean afternoon, evening, or weekends - forget) Normal ping are close 150 or more at this time. In my last home I used virgin and ping was all the time close to 10-20, but i cannot take this broadband in my new address. You can order technical support everyday if you want - it will not change anything. Do not fix it. I bought a new router, but the fault of the Internet. Apart high ping, less speed is very often in afternoon, or evening that broadband stop working any 2-3 times in every hour. it's a nightmare. I really do not recommend

Talk Talk have been selling Fibre optic broadband with customers confidential details safe; or we thought so, for some unknown reason just after taking their package on a Scammer telephoned asking the home owner to check their computer because there was a Trojan on it; and in some cases; the home owner let these scammers remotely control their computers and install bugs and also issue an no screen invoice to take payments. Someone at Talk Talk is passing on customer's details to thse scammers; otherwise how else could anyone obtain the customers tel no and details. Talk Talk don't seem botheres; so I would suggest you stay away from them and go elsewhere. Hundreds of pounds are beig stolen by these scammers by remotely issuing invoices for large sums of money; the scammers we believe are somewhere in Asia; Be Warned if anyone telephones you and you don't know who they are PUT THE PHONE DOWN AND NEVER LET ANYONE REMOTELY GET INTO YOUR COMPUTER; THEY COULD STEAL EVERYTHING INCLUDING BANK DETAILS.

Unbelievably useless, unreliable, speed nothing like advertised. I moved from BT where I had a similare package and am now planning to return to them. TalkTalk all of sudden speed plummets, connections are dropped, no way can I rely on this to work from home. I've not once seen the advertised speed when monitoring, totally appalling and not fit for purposed.

Talk talk are the worst company I have ever known. The customer service is shocking. The only good point about the company was it was cheap but u couldn't give it away now that we realise how bad the company is. They changed the install days 3 times, then they canceled our contract with out telling us we was on the phone to them for 3 hours getting passed around . We finally got it all up and running but the tv doesn't work its constantly has no signal and the picture is pixelated every 20 seconds. We rang them they said it was our problem with the aerial yet we've had it checked and it's fine. They want £450 off us to cancle the contract, they want money out of us when we arnt even getting what we are paying for. The website is never working the app is never working. Maybe talk talk should concentrate on fixing your problems rather then advertising your services cheap to get more customers, if u kept your customers happy they wouldn't need to leave you, I woudlnt recommend this company to my worse enemy :) if you want a hassle free tv and Internet go with sky yeah you pay more but u honestly get what you pay for, once our contract ends with talk talk we will never return and I will make sure none of my friends or family use them. I'm a hairdresser so I will also make sure my clients never use them!!!

Broadband connections are fine, its just the tv box. Its sooooo slow and unresponsive at times, and the on-demand service only ever worked once for me.
I live in an area where the web's been slow for decades, but recently BT finally got around to providing us with faster lines.
ive had a few issues with talktalk in the past, customer service being the old problem, they contract call-centers to far away chaep labor countries imo, as the english communication 99% of the time is shockingly poor, and ultimatly frustrating as u spend ages on phone and come away feeling u got nowhere.
They apparently cant tell me when my contract ends!! another tool they have to trap u into more fees if u do leave. That should be illegal as isnt that fraudulent ways of gaining money from customers?
Anyway.. the new speeds my area had almost made want to swap, but the increasing costs from all providers left it all a mess. No virgin around here unfortunately, and BT ripped me off many years ago back in the dial up days, so i refuse to ever go back to them directly.
SO i just went easy option & stayed with talktalk.
The endless letters thro door about tv i didnt want really annoyed me too, and each time on phone they would try to sell me the stuff, eventually i fell for it and took a tv package on one of those cheap intro offers.
Then came problems. Im not a huge fan of tv anyway, it bores me.. or my previous jobs have never allowed me to watch any regular stuff, but the on demand seemed ok to have. BUT..
The remote control or the box's receiver is sooo slow u end up pressing buttons 3 or 4 times thinking 'did i press it properly', then after 5secs the tv changes all the things u pressed 10secs ago.. or u press 'guide', nothing happens., so u press again, nothing, press again making sure u point at the box.. then 5 secs later the guide comes & goes and comes & goes.. its almost laughable xD if i wasnt paying for this rubbish ofc... its so annoying.. Really poor technology inside that box.
Then on demand.. well.. to use it u have to put in your postcode (presumably for the tv license we all get ripped off with) eventually i set it up and watched a movie.. great 2 or 3 quid seemed ok..
But its never workled since.. 'cant connect to service', or currently unavailable is all i ever get..
What the hell am i paying for? surely if they cant provide me the service they are charging me for i can leave right? lol, no.. i have to pay them if i leave early now...

I dunno whether its our gov'mt or ofcom's lack of effort or will..or both xD but someone needs to stamp down on these companies, we all being taken for a ride.
If a shop keeper did this to u then u'd be on his doorstep until he gave u money back.. a big company does theses things and nobody can do anything.. its wrong.

wow.. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.. where to begin?
    1) Wifi doesnt work. never has
2)Internet worst ive ever had( worse than a dongle!)ps3 online - no chance, online poker -no chance ( once disconnected with me having AAAA and 2 people all in for an amount of money which would pay the whole service 2 years over.)
3)no ethernet cable will work with the router other than the crummy 2ft one provided.
4)they add things to your bill youve never asked for ( charged me 7.50 calls boost i didnt ask for and have never used the phone once in 3 months? madness)
5)when you complain to customer service about the extra charges they decided you need to pay. they say what you want to hear and then charge you again anyway( happened this months bill too)
6)when your direct debit doesnt work when youve agreed a 18.45 a month package, left 20 in the bank and it isnt covered coz theyve added 7.50 to your bill against your will they also charge you 10 fee.
Absolute con artists, amazed how they are still in business. ill end as i started AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

This company use heavy handed techniques to lure you with cheap 12 month contracts then try to rip you off with inflated prices for the following year, ok so this kind of practice is not unique to them, but at least other companies allow you to cancel with pretty much no hassle. I just rang Talk Talk to cancel my second '12 month'contract which I had neither agreed to, been notified of or been informed of the 100% increase on last years prices, the guy I spoke to became defensive and made comparisons between that company and other providers namely Sky and BT, when I enquired of him how my original 12 month contract had been reapplied, without any notification (an email would have sufficed) with over in- flated prices he hung up. Come on Talk Talk - brush up on your customer service skills and admit that you're not as good as Sky, bullying tactics won't win you over any new or loyal customers.

After 12 fasiled attemps to resolve our problems with talk talk we are ending the contract.
YThey will not investigate why we are unable to access the broadband.
They insist all the staff are managers or they are the only people in the building no one else can help
They tell us that there is no complaints department and that any complaint is not replied to
They want a payment each month for a service we dont recieve.
They have no interest in resolving the matter
the telephone numbers are premium rate
the staff speak as if we are the ones who should be fortunate to have a service they do not provide
most of them are not english and repeadly tell us they do not understand.
we have taken legal action against them as they also decided to put up the amount monthly that was originally agreed by £32 a month which has now been cancelled.
We are disabled and unable to get out so unable to go to the talk talk building ourselves and they have no care.

I cannot believe that in this day and age a company like this still has any customers, given their complete failure to provide me with a service, or any feedback telling me when it's going to resume. I've not had any internet or phone since the 14th of December. Apparently there is a problem with the line, and I only know this because I collared the Openreach chap out side of my house. I haven't had one single update from Talktalk, even though I've been promised text, email and phone calls, and the fault update page on my account hasn't changed since the day I reported the problem. The sad thing is, is that I was with AOL from 1999 without a problem, and I was given no choice bar to transfer to Talktalk last summer when I needed to upgrade. Assuming that the problem is ever fixed, at the very first oppertunity I will be transferring to another service provider, because Talktalk are the worst company I've ever had to deal with, tellin me lie after lie just to get me off the phone.
