WORST COMPANY EVER!
I strongly feel that even giving 1 start is Far Too generous!
-appalling customer service - complete liars, passed from pillar to post, apparently no managers (then when u speak to a 'manager' they later on tell you they aren't or someone else does. Hardly understand what your saying, don't document the conversations, don't reply to questions, don't listen, skirt around everything. Tell you they will call back and don't. When they finally admit they have screwed up and offer you a resolution they don't follow it through
-over charge, get the bill constantly wrong. Due to information being documented incorrectly and poor English understanding they are unable to understand what's going on and make up false excuses - takes over 80 minutes on average to get sorted.
Continue to try and charge money or take money from your account even when no loner with them. Fail to pay back money they owe.
-FREE youview box isn't actually free - no matter how long you have it! Even if you send it back they may still continually try and charge you.
- constant problems with equipment sent out, charged ridiculous fees for "engineers" coming out even though they tell us it's talk talks problem on their end and nothing they can do
... I could go on and on, but basically...
STAY AWAY FROM APPALLING COMPANY

Speed his measured in Eons rather than mbps, all is well until things go wrong and then you find out the whole company call centre is based in India and no one is capable of understanding your problem!
I spent 3 months getting my internet connection back with talk talk! in the end it was a very simple fix that BT spent 10 mins sorting, pay the money and go with the company that owns the network, you may save a few quid each year but when it goes tit's up you will spend ages getting anything sorted.

I had TT BB for over a year without much trouble. Then I upgraded to the TV package..... TT slowed my BB from a rock solid 17 to about 8. When I phoned them they said its was the DLM that had picked up a problem on my line. I them went through months of messing about tooing and froing. I then stopped using the TV and my internet connection speed recovered without any fix. The You View box they supplied needs to be restarted every other day as it locks up. The wireless router will only allow wireless devices to connect for about a day, it also then needs to be restarted. Honestly I would say TT are the worst BB supplier I have ever used. I will not use them ever again even if they where giving it away free.

Absolutely rubbish! I have never experienced such bad customer service in my life.
My internet failed every 2minutes for a year and a half and they failed to do anything about it - blaming my laptop when it could connect to other networks fine.
My student house has Virgin media and I think in future it would be best to AVOID anything to do with this company.

If you're looking for a cheap mobile deal, do NOT go with talk talk. Their coverage is practically useless. Where I work, I have to walk around the building looking for a spot where I can make calls (I work in Huddersfield). When I visit head office, I have zero coverage all day, no matter where I am. I have to wait until I'm 2 miles on to the motorway before I get any signal. And then it's intermittent.
I'd hate to think what would happen if I needed to make an emergency call! Someone could die by the time I got a signal.
Oh... and their broadband deal! I paid up front for 12 month subscription. And now they increased the price so I only get 11 months for my payment! Anyone know who I should complain to?

Been with talk talk no for 8 months in new house and had nothing but trouble, i had no troubles before but an talk talk assistant telephoned me one day saying my broadband was extreamly slow and if i wanted to upgrade to fibre which i did, then the tele took forever to "wake up" and has done so since, alsi just brought a movie boost and had to phone talk talk as channels dont come on and it is like the remote control signal isnt going to the tv box. I currently have to reset the tv box up to 9 times per day to receive the tv. So avoid talk talkat any cost currently looking for new provider.

Intermittent connection. On contacting talk talk they ran a test and said it is a internal wiring problem and I need to get someone to check the wiring. Nothing wrong with the wiring sometimes runs for 24 hrs without problems.Asked for a replacement modem said they can't do that .This last happened 3 months ago and then settled down again until now. They will not accept its their problem. Considering changing provider

As a long standing TT customer and having relatively few problems with them. I recently saw a talktalk promo ad on their website to 'add fibre broadband to your existing package' without exclusions. I contacted them to sign up. Fibre optic was available in the area so no problem. I was told that I could not add the fibre as my package was a legacy plan
( what's that ? ) I asked for a more detailed explanation but they could not give me one. I made a formal complain to there CEO, no reply!! I then made a complaint to the TT Sales and Advertising Compliance Manager who overseas the application of the TT Code of Practice ( which their ad breached ) and as yet have not had a response. The package that I have had for a number of years ( which I have added to without having to upgrade to another plan) is Talk International Anytime with unlimited broadband downloads.
I have come to the conclusion that TT in order to off load some of their older plan/packages irrespective of the loyalty shown by their customers, is to simply deny them that which is available to newer customers in order to then apply higher charges for the services that come with the later plans/packages.
I would be interested to read from anyone that may have experienced the same treatment.

Well I have just learnt the hard way about TalkTalks terrible broadband service. I rang up on the 5th of December to let them know i was moving into a new property on the 16th, so it was confirmed they would cancel current internet on 15th and new house would be live on 16th. Received confirmation of my go live date. Well suprise suprise it wouldnt connect as it isn't activated. Now I have to wait until the 22nd so I'm currently paying for nothing. Terrible service, do NOT go with them. Go somewhere else!

Looking down the reviews - below - makes interesting reading as it seems to show that the Customer Service offered by TalkTalk is steadily getting worse as time goes by. In my case the equipment has - thus far - exceeded all expectations - apart from their “System” insisting that there was a problem with my router connection - in-spite of the fact I was 'on-line' and it was working correctly at the time – it is their management of my account that is “Unbelievable” and I have now resolved to go elsewhere when my contract ends. Their Customer Service philosophy seems to be “Pay-up, Put-up and Shut-up. Treating the customer as nothing more that a revenue stream for their benefit and if you have any issues they will have a stab at fixing it but if they cant - well there are more where you come from! I had moved from Northamptonshire to one of the more “out of the way” parts to Yorkshire and TalkTalk were the only internet and telephone service providers who could offer the service I needed – and as I say it does work – so far. The main problem is/was that they insist on a ludicrously low monthly telephone call charge limit - £20 - far below even my modest monthly requirements. After I discover this six months ago this I called TalkTalk – no small effort in it self – I arranged for it to be increased to £40 – or so I thought. I had no problems until 2 weeks ago when I had a reaction the some treatment at the nearest Oncology Center – about 50 miles away and had to be hospitalized. My wife was trying to keep updated with my progress only to discover that the telephone call charge limit had exceeded £20 - not the £40 at it was supposed to be. After 24 Hrs incentive treatment at the hospital I was sufficiently recovered to call home – only to discover that my wife was in a flat spin having exhausted both her mobile battery and pay as you go credit and the phone not working – and it was only the fact that I called her that I was able to reassure her of my recovery. We resolved to sort this out with TalkTalk once I was able to return home – and that is when all of the fun and games began. TalkTalk don't make it easy to “Talk” to them - indeed that put up as many barriers as possible – and if you express negative opinions as to their service they just cut the call. Is it such a big thing to 'talk' to a customer and fix an small problem before it becomes a big one? It is now clear that they have no intention of improving their service – in-spite of their pronouncements – the best judge's of that service are after all the users as other have found also. BT – bless them – are now rolling out vast infrastructure improvements in our area so other ISP's will be able to offer a service that I need - so by the time my contract ends I should be able to move on to the service I require but not one that TalkTalk seems able to provide.

I have had very slow to non-existent broadband connection for days on end over the last 7-8 weeks. In that time, I've had 6 Talk Talk or Open Reach engineers visit my house, and had my router changed twice, but I still have the problem. I'm not the only one suffering from this, my next door neighbour is, as well as several other neighbours on the Corfe Castle exchange. From talking to the various engineers that have visited, I have found out that many more households in the area are also experiencing the same problem. Talk Talk keep sending me texts saying that the problem is fixed, and I have to ring and say it isn't. I have spent hours sending off speed test results (often it's too slow to measure), and ping and trace route results. Every time I talk to a so called "fault manager", it feels like I'm starting from scratch again. Tonight, the "fault manager" said that she'd had a message from the "Network Team" to ask me to try a new router!!!! How will that fix a fault that many people have?!!! I've rarely come across such incompetence. One of the engineers that visited said that they thought that the problem was at the Corfe castle exchange or beyond it on Talk Talk equipment. It seems that Open Reach and Talk talk cannot have access to each others equipment and they don't (or won't) work together, and neither can they access BT equipment. What a recipe for disaster.

one of the worst ISPs and phone providers is Talktalk they constantly overcharged and the speed of the internet was very slow, they wanted to change me £156 at the end of the contract for no reason, I had to dispute it before it got cancelled but that was touch and go... summarised my whole experience with them, never again!

Customer service via telephone is very terrible. They withhold information about possible charges and then charge after the deed has been done. If your are the type who doest monitor your bill payments you might be getting excess bill. Pay attention to each word they say and confirm before agreeing

There is no word to describe how bad there customer service is. I have now been without connection for 10days. I have repeatedly spoke to their "customer service" to hear the same appologies, the same "you will get an update within 24hours". Yet after 10 days I still have nothing. Nobody can tell me what's going on or how long it will take. While this is going on they have no shame in billing me for another month of service that they are not providing me with. There is nothing their customer service staff can help you with. I have just been served the same pre-made speach 10 times. As far as leaving them goes, I apparently have to wait for 28 days before I can do this. Absolutely non-existant customer service and shocking behaviour.

Cant fault any of the TalkTalk services/Products. I am a Broadband engineer and can honestly say that more than half the people on this forum haven't a clue of how Broadband works and what to do to get the most reliable connection. Each household is different in terms of speed and reliability. Slow speeds can be down to a long line length from the nearest exchange from which a customer signing up should know what there getting before they sign up. Speeds are UPTO and you should not expect lightening throughput just because someone you know has a certain figure in regards to speed. Internal home setup is a big factor in slow unreliable speeds as on my travels I have visited 100's of homes in which the end user hasn't added a micro filter to an extension socket using a phone or using shop bought extension cable which is cheap cable only suitable for phone not Broadband. There are many factors that prevent you from not receiving an excellent reliable connection and there is plenty of information on the web.
I have TV,BB Phone and mobiles from TalkTalk and have no issues with anything. Fantastic value and a great service beats any service provider out there.

Don't do it. Customer service unbelievably inept.
We've spent 15+ hours on the phone trying to get connected only for them to cancel the account, then have to put through a new order which left us disconnected for 2 weeks. No apology offered.
We've had to wait in to get routers which never turn up, then got two at once.
TV service incredibly slow and unresponsive. We actually have fewer channels now than we did with our freeview box. Though a few of them are in HD now.
It is also impossible to make a complaint. No-one can take one from you. They say they can, and then they don't.
When you phone them up they never have your notes and you have to start all over again.
They are, without doubt the worst company I have ever had to deal with. It doesn't matter whether it's over email, Twitter, phone or live chat. They're all useless.
If you still go with these clowns after you've read the reviews on here, you have been warned. For anyone who is stuck in a contract like us, you have my sympathies.

You don't 'have' Talk Talk, you suffer from Talk Talk - a bit like having a chronic ailment. The difference is that you are stuck with poor health, but you can get rid of Talk Talk. We have Talk Talk phone and broadband and can't wait until the contract finishes in April '15. Never again. If you like being lied to repeatedly, ripped off, and to be stuck with slow and often non-existent internet access - then Talk Talk are for you. Never let them persuade you to extend their contract by discounts or bribes of free YouView boxes - better still never sign up with them in the first place.

applied for line 13th october, now 15 december, still not connected (despite the fact that a line had been recently disconnected).
They obviously have a terrible relationship with openreach, an absolute stinker of a company. I would avoid at ALL costs.
Though it pains me to say it, your probably best off going with BT due to the inexcusable behavior of Openreach. This industry is ROTTEN to the core

Tried to leave them and go with another supplier, BT. They were unable to take over the line so I had to cancel my TalkTalk line and have a new line installed. Talk Talk refused to correct the matter within 30 days so I had to pay more get a new line installed. They effectively blocked me changing providers.

I consider myself to be a pretty patient person - but even I was becoming exasperated in the past half an hour!
You see yesterday I contacted the TalkTalk Helpline because our YouView box is stuck in the middle of the start-up sequence (it's been 'Nearly Ready' for about 20mins). I was talking to 'Ashley' (from his accent I'd say not his real name) and had a real problem trying to understand what he was asking me to do to 'resolve the issue as soon as possible'. Press this, reset that, plug it into a different power source. The upshot is that an engineer is booked to come out next week and I hope he gets it sorted. If the fault is found to have been caused by TalkTalk supplied equipment then this visit will be free of charge. BUT woe betide us if the fault is found to be with our internal wiring or setup, or if no fault is found because then the Engineer visit will be £50 (inc VAT). And if the fault is found to have been caused by the TV equipment being damaged by us - £200 for the box! I think it's time to switch to Sky...
I called again and was put through to Ralph(!) who I asked about how much they would charge if I wanted to cancel my contract early. After literally ten minutes he managed to tell me the amount of my bill (which I've already paid). Eventually he cottoned on to what I was asking and put me through to a colleague in the accounts department - called Siobhan (her real name) based in the UK who answered my query within 2 minutes and was a l lot more helpful. I should make very clear I am in no way xenophobic or racist but if you employ people to provide a voice-only service to UK customers at least employ people for whom English is either (a) their first language, or (b) a fluent second language. Rant over.

An Engineer didn't finish his job he simply plugged the devices in and left. The Reciept stating the engineer will check that your broadband is working (will require access to a computer) before leaving was NOT done. When i rang to complain we were only getting half the speed, the lady on the phone went through to then be told me they can send the engineer back out for a charge of £65. I questioned why i will be charged £65 for an engineer not doing his job in the first place , She told me the problem isn't from there end it. Nothing more they can do about it. 'We have refreshed everything from our end please observe it for 48hours then call us back if there is no change so we can book an engineer'.
I highly suggest do not get yourself caught up with talktalk, stay away.

I purchased a Talk Talk broadband and phone deal from a door to door sales woman. I did not have a provider before so I wasn't switching. She made everything easy for me to order on the day, it took about 30 minutes. When the activation day came, I set up everything and was online soon after. No problems so far and the download speed seemed satisfactory. However, after switching to another provider, I noticed my pages were loading much quicker, so I don't think I was getting all the speed my line could handle with Talk Talk.
The problems with Talk Talk started to arise about 6 months on. Nothing major, just in the last 6 months of my contract they put up their line rental up twice; the second time it was very near to my contract ending (12 months) and they also announced price hikes in phone connection charges, which made me want to switch. After the 12 months were up, I checked my account and my bill was £1 higher than usual (not including line rental), although there was no mention anywhere in the contract that the price might go up after one year. And yes, I read the small print too.
I was advised by the provider I was switching to, to contact my current provider to tell them I'm leaving, although in hindsight I shouldn't have done. Or maybe I did the right thing, otherwise Talk Talk would have had a better review from me... I didn't need a MAC code anyway...
So an adviser answered in a very thick accent (I don't mind outsourcing, I'm not a native English speaker neither, but please hire people that are easy to understand), which made me ask him to repeat himself a few times, making the conversation frustrating from the start. He then proceeded on asking me who I'm switching to and why and trying to trash the provider as best he could ("they are lying to you", "the deal on the website is not what you're getting", "many customers return from them after a few months"). I explained to him several times the deal I switched to, and that it is not available on the website, he kept on saying that I will not get that deal, because it's not what he sees on that website right now. In the end, he said, "Ok, if you FEEL you're getting that deal, then fine." - like I'm an idiot who can't read. From this point on he started to offer me deal after deal, but even he offered free broadband and line rental, I wouldn't have taken it, for being made to feel like I did. The deals he offered were not suitable for me anyway, they included unlimited phone, and I used my landline maybe 5 times in a year (3 of which calling 0800 numbers). This call took a long time, by the end my daughter woke from her nap and started crying and told the adviser this, so could he tell me quick if I need a MAC or not. No, it took another 5 minutes for him to read some pre-scripted stuff, then telling me I don't need a MAC, then trying to flog me yet another deal... URGH! I obviously had went to my daughter by then and I'm sure he could hear her crying, but he was still trying to make a sale... Management, what are you doing???

Like someone before me said - talk talk deserves no stars. Telephone line modems 15 years ago were more reliable and faster than this piece of crap. My connection is working all the time apart from some of yours...but it is "working" if you know what i mean. I always checking ping by -tracert command which is best way to see what is accualy happening. Almost everytime tho, i see connection to router - ping like 500 to 1000 (should be 1) so at the end ping is something about 2100-3000 (my record is accualy 7100). Even if i have ping "1" to router(which is reeeeaaaaaaly rare) it tends to jump to 300 with no reason. Usually i cant even browse sites, takes ages to view even simple pictures from auction on ebay and watching movies in lowest quality on youtube is something that i can only dream about...I can describe this service in 3 simple words: FRUSTRATION, INCOMPETENCE, WORST THING SOMEONE EVER MADE (well this is accualy 7 words but you get the point right?). Everybody - keep away from talktalk. Someone should do something about it, because it is legal cheating to people.

I have been with Talk Talk for 7 years. I have never had the best connection from day 1, and everytime I call the customer service team I never get anywhere and end up just repeating myself over and over again because they do not understand what I am telling them. Every time you call them, you have to explain the whole issue again because they do not communicate between departments (they claim they do) and all my previous notes are not there, and it may as well be the 1st time I have called them every time! If you get angry, they respond like a robot and just keep reading out scripted text and then say no to everything and just keep saying "I am sorry to hear this" Don't tell me your sorry, I know you don't care, just get me an engineer today and fix the issue! I logged a fault on the 22nd Nov 2014 and to date it is still not fixed. I booked an engineer for today Friday 12th Dec and Talk Talk cancelled it and closed the case as resolved, but conveniently left no notes as to why they did this? So I had to start from scratch again. I have had my line tested 15 times by Talk talk over the phone, and each time it has come up with the same result, and I have now had 5 engineer booking and 1 one them was cancelled by Talk Talk! I feel totally helpless, I beg, cry, plead, scream, shout, swear, I'm nice, I'm everything and nothing gets me anywhere, I hit brick walls time after time and end up with the same outcome....test the line, book an engineer still got a fault, call the team, test the line, book engineer, still broken, call the team, test the line, book engineer....are you getting the pattern here?
Do your self a favour, go to PLUSNET! they have UK call centres, I'm now looking into legal way to leave talk talk and get out my contract early with fees to do so...any suggestions would be great!

I signed up for Simlpybroadband and phone (the call took 45 minutes!) in late November. This process included booking an engineer to install the router. All I then had was hassle. The TT salesperson said TT would arrange the land line switchover from BT. My existing ISP (AOL) sent me an email advising that TT had advised them of the switch date. Next I got email from TT telling me to set up a password and access my new on line account. After many attempts to do that I phoned their help desk. They spent 40 minutes talking me through various ways of setting up a password. All failed.I was then transferred to their manager. She said it was impossible to set up access until after the switchover date (then 10 days away)!! I ignored further emails telling me to set up password etc. 4 days before engineer's visit and switchover I received letter though post from AOL advising that TT had told them that the switchover was cancelled!! TT's helpdesk were very apologetic for not telling me and said that for "technical reasons" I would have to re apply after 12 December! They said they would give me £20 as compo for my troubles. They told me to contact BT incase BT were going to cut me off and leave me without a land line!! Tomorrow is the 12th. I wager that the deal they were offering me (as an AOL user) was oversubscribed and wont be on offer on the 13th. But I could be wrong of course.

Gave up on TalkTalk broadband after experiencing incompetence, unprofessionalism, inefficiency, poor communication and downright rudeness.
Our broadband wasn't working after initial set-up. Contacted TalkTalk who went through basic steps to check it was set-up properly, and then they sent an engineer. Still didn't work. Contacted TalkTalk again. Operator started from the start and went through set-up steps, AGAIN. Sent out engineer, AGAIN. And repeat one more time. Frustrated and evidently getting nowhere, we decided to cancel the service and try elsewhere. I then had a tug-of-war with TalkTalk to get back set-up costs and first couple of months payment. Eventually got this back after being passed around call centres and re-explaining situation every time.
If your connection works, you're probably fine. If not, expect long waits on the phone and for engineers to turn up, and terrible customer service.
