I purchased a Talk Talk broadband and phone deal from a door to door sales woman. I did not have a provider before so I wasn't switching. She made everything easy for me to order on the day, it took about 30 minutes. When the activation day came, I set up everything and was online soon after. No problems so far and the download speed seemed satisfactory. However, after switching to another provider, I noticed my pages were loading much quicker, so I don't think I was getting all the speed my line could handle with Talk Talk.
The problems with Talk Talk started to arise about 6 months on. Nothing major, just in the last 6 months of my contract they put up their line rental up twice; the second time it was very near to my contract ending (12 months) and they also announced price hikes in phone connection charges, which made me want to switch. After the 12 months were up, I checked my account and my bill was £1 higher than usual (not including line rental), although there was no mention anywhere in the contract that the price might go up after one year. And yes, I read the small print too.
I was advised by the provider I was switching to, to contact my current provider to tell them I'm leaving, although in hindsight I shouldn't have done. Or maybe I did the right thing, otherwise Talk Talk would have had a better review from me... I didn't need a MAC code anyway...
So an adviser answered in a very thick accent (I don't mind outsourcing, I'm not a native English speaker neither, but please hire people that are easy to understand), which made me ask him to repeat himself a few times, making the conversation frustrating from the start. He then proceeded on asking me who I'm switching to and why and trying to trash the provider as best he could ("they are lying to you", "the deal on the website is not what you're getting", "many customers return from them after a few months"). I explained to him several times the deal I switched to, and that it is not available on the website, he kept on saying that I will not get that deal, because it's not what he sees on that website right now. In the end, he said, "Ok, if you FEEL you're getting that deal, then fine." - like I'm an idiot who can't read. From this point on he started to offer me deal after deal, but even he offered free broadband and line rental, I wouldn't have taken it, for being made to feel like I did. The deals he offered were not suitable for me anyway, they included unlimited phone, and I used my landline maybe 5 times in a year (3 of which calling 0800 numbers). This call took a long time, by the end my daughter woke from her nap and started crying and told the adviser this, so could he tell me quick if I need a MAC or not. No, it took another 5 minutes for him to read some pre-scripted stuff, then telling me I don't need a MAC, then trying to flog me yet another deal... URGH! I obviously had went to my daughter by then and I'm sure he could hear her crying, but he was still trying to make a sale... Management, what are you doing???

Like someone before me said - talk talk deserves no stars. Telephone line modems 15 years ago were more reliable and faster than this piece of crap. My connection is working all the time apart from some of yours...but it is "working" if you know what i mean. I always checking ping by -tracert command which is best way to see what is accualy happening. Almost everytime tho, i see connection to router - ping like 500 to 1000 (should be 1) so at the end ping is something about 2100-3000 (my record is accualy 7100). Even if i have ping "1" to router(which is reeeeaaaaaaly rare) it tends to jump to 300 with no reason. Usually i cant even browse sites, takes ages to view even simple pictures from auction on ebay and watching movies in lowest quality on youtube is something that i can only dream about...I can describe this service in 3 simple words: FRUSTRATION, INCOMPETENCE, WORST THING SOMEONE EVER MADE (well this is accualy 7 words but you get the point right?). Everybody - keep away from talktalk. Someone should do something about it, because it is legal cheating to people.

I have been with Talk Talk for 7 years. I have never had the best connection from day 1, and everytime I call the customer service team I never get anywhere and end up just repeating myself over and over again because they do not understand what I am telling them. Every time you call them, you have to explain the whole issue again because they do not communicate between departments (they claim they do) and all my previous notes are not there, and it may as well be the 1st time I have called them every time! If you get angry, they respond like a robot and just keep reading out scripted text and then say no to everything and just keep saying "I am sorry to hear this" Don't tell me your sorry, I know you don't care, just get me an engineer today and fix the issue! I logged a fault on the 22nd Nov 2014 and to date it is still not fixed. I booked an engineer for today Friday 12th Dec and Talk Talk cancelled it and closed the case as resolved, but conveniently left no notes as to why they did this? So I had to start from scratch again. I have had my line tested 15 times by Talk talk over the phone, and each time it has come up with the same result, and I have now had 5 engineer booking and 1 one them was cancelled by Talk Talk! I feel totally helpless, I beg, cry, plead, scream, shout, swear, I'm nice, I'm everything and nothing gets me anywhere, I hit brick walls time after time and end up with the same outcome....test the line, book an engineer still got a fault, call the team, test the line, book engineer, still broken, call the team, test the line, book engineer....are you getting the pattern here?

Do your self a favour, go to PLUSNET! they have UK call centres, I'm now looking into legal way to leave talk talk and get out my contract early with fees to do so...any suggestions would be great!

I signed up for Simlpybroadband and phone (the call took 45 minutes!) in late November. This process included booking an engineer to install the router. All I then had was hassle. The TT salesperson said TT would arrange the land line switchover from BT. My existing ISP (AOL) sent me an email advising that TT had advised them of the switch date. Next I got email from TT telling me to set up a password and access my new on line account. After many attempts to do that I phoned their help desk. They spent 40 minutes talking me through various ways of setting up a password. All failed.I was then transferred to their manager. She said it was impossible to set up access until after the switchover date (then 10 days away)!! I ignored further emails telling me to set up password etc. 4 days before engineer's visit and switchover I received letter though post from AOL advising that TT had told them that the switchover was cancelled!! TT's helpdesk were very apologetic for not telling me and said that for "technical reasons" I would have to re apply after 12 December! They said they would give me £20 as compo for my troubles. They told me to contact BT incase BT were going to cut me off and leave me without a land line!! Tomorrow is the 12th. I wager that the deal they were offering me (as an AOL user) was oversubscribed and wont be on offer on the 13th. But I could be wrong of course.

Gave up on TalkTalk broadband after experiencing incompetence, unprofessionalism, inefficiency, poor communication and downright rudeness.

Our broadband wasn't working after initial set-up. Contacted TalkTalk who went through basic steps to check it was set-up properly, and then they sent an engineer. Still didn't work. Contacted TalkTalk again. Operator started from the start and went through set-up steps, AGAIN. Sent out engineer, AGAIN. And repeat one more time. Frustrated and evidently getting nowhere, we decided to cancel the service and try elsewhere. I then had a tug-of-war with TalkTalk to get back set-up costs and first couple of months payment. Eventually got this back after being passed around call centres and re-explaining situation every time.

If your connection works, you're probably fine. If not, expect long waits on the phone and for engineers to turn up, and terrible customer service.

Broadband is good but we left as of the lack of channels we got in this area. When we tried to leave talk talk refused and said they wont cancel we had to ring them about 6 times before they agreed to do what we asked and end the package we agreed to pay the fine to leave it was £98. Very Rude!

My advice is don't even look at them if you try and leave they are very rude and nasty... never again!

I called talktalk and there sales people estimated my bb would be 11.6mbps I know this is only an estimate but when I started to receive bb my speed was 3.2mbps, called and complained "give us 28 days to rectify your speed sir" I was told or else you can cancel free of charge. 28 days later and a £265 bill for breaking my contract becaseu it was only an estimate speed not a guaranteed speed. Customer services lost their temper with me, all they were saying is "you are getting the national average speed" but I signed up to a contract of 11mbps not 3mbps so I have Virgin media coming next week with fibre @ 100mbps (hopefully) avoid TALKTALK at all costs they will lie to you to get you into a contract and do whatever they can to charge you money.

I recently moved and found what I thought is a good deal from talktalk. I finally got everything set up and was told my line would go active on a certain date...which it never did. For just over a week I was waiting for my line to become 'active' but it never did. Being 9 months pregnant, living on my own and having poor cellphone service in the area, I needed it to work. I ended up cancelling the contract which wasn't made easy either by the rude staff and me having to repeat what I said SEVERAL times as i kept being transfered around...I am sure I spent a total of 4 hours to them. I am finally free from them and with a better provider but talktalk still owes me money!!! I don't see the point in paying for something I am not getting...I fulfilled my end of the contract but they didn't play their part. If i could give less than 1 star I definitely would. Good riddance!!!!!

Appalling service, I spent hours on the phone trying to get them to improve my broadband speed of less than 0.5MB/sec at peak times. First Engineer didn't turn up, second Engineer phoned to say no point as just congested line. After 2 letters to CEO they admitted it was a problem area and I have signed up with BT now. Quite the worst Company I have ever dealt with and definitely one to avoid

Don't EVER signup with Talk Talk! Started out with simply Broadband, but they couldn't provide the speed needed. So called back after the 2 weeks test period. They suggested to send out an engineer. We agreed on a date and time. I was informed a £25 fee would aplly if I wasn't at home. They also offered me an upgrade to fibre optic which of course increased the monthly fee but I didn't have to pay the upfront fee for the internet. They day came of the engineer visit. No one showed up. 2 days later I called Talk Talk just to make sure I wasn't charged for a missed visit. I was assured this wouldn't happen as the probably was at the exchange then. Then my bill came. Normally it would be for £21.70. It was for £85.56!!! called back only to be told that it was for a missed visit and upfront fee for fibre optic as well as two months rates ( would have been nice to have know the latter when we signup). Tried to dispute the fee for the missed visit. But they answered they didn't have any notes of my phone call with their employee who assured me I didn't have to pay for the visit. The same with upfront fee for fibre optic! what a load of c...!!! but they did tell me if I wanted to have their complaints team call me within 24-48 hours!!! such a joke! Go with Sky instead. They might be pricier, but at least you don't have to double check your bill every month!

I was previously with Aol since 2003 and my broadband was fairly recently taken over by Talk Talk and since then it has been nothing but bother. As an Aol customer Talk Talk have not changed the details of my account and still have my old address from 8 years ago (even though I advised them when I moved) and had the audacity to charge me £25 for sending an engineer to my last address. Their customer services are deplorable with people who cannot understand what you are saying and who cannot speak good English. They even had the cheek to ask me if I could speak English.Trying to contact them by e-mail is almost impossible as I still have my old aol e-mail and nothing is listed on my account. I have also spent countless hours on the phone and would have been as well sitting talking to myself. At least I understand me(sometimes. My advice is to steer well clear of Talk Talk or you will be talk talking for hours to no avail. Absolutely useless and their broadband is garbage as far as I am concerned.

So far it's been very difficult to stay patient on the phone to customer services...long unexplained silences, repetition of stated facts and inability to answer what I thought were reasonable questions led to a pretty poor impression and that's just for connecting the phone line...I'm dreading the TV and broadband issues. Feeling anxious that I've swapped to them as even basics - like having two different go live dates on two letters for telephone- are not right. Doesn't inspire confidence.

I took the broadband connection it worked only for two days and stopped working. I called customer service many times, each time new person and same story telling about the issue and they advice to remove the front socket plate and check, etc.. but no resolution. They promise that the issue will be resolved within 48hrs but still after 12 days no internet. Every time I call they change the issue reporting date, as it looks like the issue is only few days old. Very bad service, please suggest me how to complain with the Authorities? Talktalk is just cheating.

Stay AWAY! Absolute waste of time. I've hd 5 engineer appointments scheduled and on all 5 occasions no engineer turned up (10th, 14th, 18th Nov and then 3rd, 5th Dec).
On the 3rd occasion an engineer logged that he couldn't find premise therefore left (no phone calls to either myself or his office to get help finding premise) and on 4th occasion apparently tried contacting me (I had phone on me all day on loud ringer) but was incorrect number so again left. Fact is I re-confirmed my number with TalkTalk on 5 occasions and left my wife's number and reception number so he had no excuse other than he couldn't be bothered or he had to run for his lunchtime sarnie! Absolute disgrace, waste of time, no respect and sheer laziness.
Unhappy customer (before I've even joined!!)

Jesus, I thought BT were a bunch of morons but talk talk REALLY take the biscuit.
I've had "intermittent dropping out" problems for about 18 months, and finally managed to get a Talktalk engineer round to try and sort it out. he did a few tests, then categorically and unequivocally told me there was a problem with the BT line. He then booked a BT engineer to come out and check.
I then got a call from some absolute numpty at Talktalk, who told me that he had run tests and there was nothing wrong with my phone line. He blamed "the wireless" ( whatever that is ) and said that my system was dropping out because of interference from my fridge!!
What this dickhead didn't realise was that my TV is connected by a cable to my modem.
The whole bunch of them are ignorant twats!!

DON'T get talk talk Internet! I have just spent over 2 hours on the phone with them because my Internet connection lasts less than a minute then goes. Now I have to wait 5 days for an engineer to come out to look at my router, while I'm left without any Internet connection to my laptop, meaning I can do none of my uni revision or work for my deadlines next week! It's always been slow but this is ridiculous! And to leave it will cost me £280+! seriously would not recommend talk talk to anybody.

Very, very bad! Please don't go for them! They always change the contract price despite them saying its 'fixed'! When ever you call them they always pass you to atleast 4 people who all have something very different to say. Also, they apparently have like over 10 managers.

I am so disgusted by TalkTalk's service that I don't particularly wish to spend any more time than necessary thinking, speaking or writing about them - they have already wasted enough of this.

So in generic brief, they are the most pathetic providers of any service I have ever come across. Their customer service is outrageously appalling and you purchase their services at your own (considerable) risk!

Quite simply the worst experience I have ever had with any company.

Spent months trying to get them to install. When installed it often failed. Customer service was like a circular vortex of incompetence, hours and hours of my life wasted.

Eventually decided to cancel the contract, a process which again took hours and significant interaction with cynical and deliberately obstructive call cente workers. Was then FURIOUS to find three months later that they had continued to charge me!! Called up to complain and get my money back and was essentially called a liar.

If I had the time I would actually consider suing, as their actions are above the merely incompetent and bordering on the illegal. They effectively stole three months of rental from me.

Avoid these jokers like the plague.

    Where to begin.

I ordered talktalk Fiberoptic broadband when I moved into our new home.Got told I would need to take a normal broadband (phone line) before they could switch on the fiber.

Silly me, I agreed to this and the date came. Like clockwork the internet was working (>1mb/sec). Called as agreed to switch over to the package I told them I wanted.

Now they can't do it?. Wow - simply wow. Spoke to several people on the phone and they finally agree I had been miss sold the service. Talktalk agreed to cancel it the day my BT Infinity was installed (straight to the package I wanted in the first place).

The day comes and BT were faultless. Talktalk switched off as agreed in the previous call - all done and dusted.

I then notice I was charged £85 as a cancellation fee by Talktalk. Straight back on the phone to them. After having one of them laugh over the phone and me lose my temper with how unprofessional they are - They state they have issued a refund and it would be back in my account within 10 working days. Great all done.

Check 2 FULL weeks later and no refund by Talktalk. Straight onto the phone chat as it's now quite late. The support "rep" looks into the issue and says no refund has been processed and I need to login to the website under "my account". (I no longer have an account so I can't do this).

I mention this to the rep and say this needs to be resolved in a timely fashion of I will be taking this to a small claims court to which they reply "go ahead" and cut the chat dead.

I must mention I have talktalk in another property I own on the package I requested in the first place which I will be ending as soon as my contract is up with them and going to BT (Slightly more expensive but worth every penny to date!)

Stay away from Talktalk. They have lied constantly to get my business even after explaining I already have business with them. Now they are playing around and acting like children and not a company you can trust.

I don't write reviews but if this helps deter one customer I feel it's been worth my time.

    STAY AWAY

Shocking service. After waiting for 3 weeks and taking a half days holidays from work so I could be there for the installation - they never showed up. No message, no email, no notice. I called them and was offered no explanation and then told I have to wait another 15 days for installation. Horrendous service, horrendous customer service.

Disgusted with the latest trick, after being charged for a years line rental I called to ask they change it to monthly and refund me the difference. Being told this would take 28 days to issue a cheque I simply cancelled my order. Was then told I would have a refund to my account within 5 working days. Calling 9 working days later I was informed the refund had NEVER been processed and she would do it now and it would take 5-10 working days!! So had I not called to chase this talk talk would have been 170 quid up for providing absolutely no service whatsoever!!!

by the way I only clicked two stars by mistake it should be one. DONT EVER join talk talk.. Firstly there bills come out days in advance meaning if you dont have the money in till the assigned bill date you're left with an extra £10 charge from talk talk and a bank charge. Then when I phoned them up and told them I was bored of talking to people who couldn't understand me I got broken English. Trying to explain I shouldn't be charged for the failed direct debit as its there fault. To be told after much debating that's fine so got £10 knocked off my bill. To then be charged an extra tenner on my next bill. I then phoned up and queried this to be told the ten pound they took off was to be added to next months bill. They are actually breaking the law and need to be stopped!

If there was an option for 'zero stars', I would have chosen that.

It is very rare that a day goes by where I do not need to reset the internet.

Commonly, I have to spend 15-30 minutes waiting for the internet to sort itself out.

Talk Talk suggest getting a new router - I've had 3. The service is still atrocious.

I cannot more strongly suggest getting your internet from someone else if you live in Cambridge.

I have been with TalkTalk for many years, I have found them to be fair and very helpful, I know it would be better if customer service was in the UK,but I have spoken to the overseas branch, and found them to be very good. On price they are hard to beat, but like all the rest prices are creeping up.

Had the service for over a year and it was good so remained with them. No sooner had I committed to a new contract than problems started. Rubbish broadband speed and service failure on a regular basis. Disgraceful customer service as well, yet prices rise every 6 months. What I hate the most is their belief that they have a right to call you at any time with stupid offers you've specified you're not interested in. At the end of this contract, I'm never having anything to do with them again!

Email: If I could give no stars for reliability I would. It must be part of their policy/business model to drop the service after 5 minutes at times of medium/high traffic…it happens Every time..(and I mean every time).
So, you use their product for 5 minutes, then wait 20 to get back onto it. You can write reviews like this whilst you're waiting.
