A simple task like moving house is turning into a nightmare. I rang Talk TAlk last week and spoke to a very helpful chap. As ther is going to be a month or so gap between leaving one property and moving into another I was advised that my account could be frozen until I was ready to move into my new house and a note would be made on my account explaining this. All I needed to do was ring to give them 24 hours notice to close down the services at my old address and freeze the account. Thats when the fun began. This morning I attempted just that. After speaking to person A and having to explain exactly what I wanted I was transferred to person B and had to g othrough it all again despite there being notes on my file. Person B put me on "hold" while she actioned the request but after 10-15 minutes it donned on me that the line was in fact dead. I re-dialled and had to go through the whole process again with a different person A before being transferred to a different person B. After she spent another 10 minutes asking what Iwanted she then decides to tell me that the system is very busy and can she call me back before 6pm tonight. No she bloody well can't!!!! I am in the office and this should have taken 10 minutes max but I have been passed around for over 45 minutes now. Simple, if I do not receive a call by 4pm(my normal leaving time) I will cancel the DD and walk away. The ycan write all they like , I won't be there. I vote with my feet when I get crap service!!!!

I was with Talk Talk since 2006. Started as Toucan customer first (extremely pleased, great service with no connection issues). Then Pipex took over (less pleased, not so great service but more expensive). Eventually Talk Talk took over. For the last 3yrs I had issues with my internet connection. It was dropping every 5min during the evening time. And step by step it got worst. The response of their technical support was a joke. Each call was ending up to a 3-hrs ordeal of speaking to technicians who would apologise time and again but doing nothing at all to resolve the issue. To cut long story short, after I agreed to a possible £50 charge they sent an engineer. The engineer who came was extremely polite and the first who actually told me what everybody else was refusing to admit. That the fault was with the line and my equipment had nothing to do with it. He saw 20000 (yes! twenty thousand) faults since the last time I had rebooted it. That was a couple of weeks before his visit. To demonstrate this to me he changed all the equipment, new router, new cables, new microfiltres, used his own -company Talk Talk- laptop and within minutes more than 100 faults appeared. So, the issue was escalated. Two weeks later, and after receiving three messages from Talk Talk that my fault was resolved, I contacted them to advise that this was far from the truth as I was still losing connection at the rate of 3-4 times per minute! Streaming was simply impossible. Their response? "Our systems show that everything is fine with your line and there is nothing else we can do" (!!!). So after 8 years I decided to search for a different supplier. And what a miracle! After joining another supplier (for those who are interested it is plusnet) my connection is straight as an arrow! No issues what so ever!!! It hasn't dropped a single time! Not once!
I can now write my review with clear mind, away from the unbelievable frustrations I went through time and again (especially the last three months). I had -oh so!- enough of the rubbish customer service of Talk Talk. Their technical support is the worst I've every experienced and I have good things to say for only one of their customer service representatives and the engineer that came to check the fault on-site. Everything else was dreadful. What a waste of time and money. I wouldn't join them even if they would have paid me to! Oh, they tried to make me an offer to stay! Really??? And I have a mission: to convince all my friends who are with them to change supplier. Already been successful with two. And I will go on! Talk Talk, count on this!
If you do not want to reach points of insanity stay well clear of them! Don't get fouled by their offers.

After 1.5 years with Talk Talk at last decided to quit. To be honest, seems like my life has lost its purpose- there is no need to caal my internet provider 3 to 5 times per day just to be able to use internet!!! :)

Router- the most worthless peace of equipment i have ever had in my house- WiFi range is 5 to 7 metres max, keeps dropping connection and just to add to that, had to be replaced 4 times in 1.5 years becouse it stopped working at all. In the end bought myself a good router/modem and at least one problem was solved.

Internet speed: is like yo-yo! Goes up and down! On good day it was 11 Mb/sec, then goes to 1.3 Mb/sec, then after 1 hour conversation with customer service, back to 11 Mb/sec. As i said, had to call them 3 to 5 times per day! They were number 3 on my speed dial! :)

Customer service/technical support: they just read everything from their scripts, ask you to remove front panel of socket, replace filtre, restart router and then, when nothing else works, tell you that it's fault in your home instalation.

Got engineer out- he said it's fault in line; tech support blaims my home instalation and so we go in circles.

My advice: do NOT go with talk talk! Unless you like challenge and love spending time on the phone arguing with customer support team members every day!

Think my ratings says it all, think you are getting a cheap reliable connection sadly this is not the case. Customer service is non existent, promises of call back has not happened. And now they want £9.50 per month for every month I am cancelling contract early, so have cancelled direct debit and contacted OFCOM.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if you want to maintain a level of sanity, do not go anywhere near talktalk.. They sell you one thing and charge you something else, then they completely deny all knowledge of having sold you the previous package in the first place.
Their customer service reps are completely incompetent, and that's assuming you can understand what they say..
They will put you on hold for 10 minutes at a a time and come back with no solution, so you have just wasted another 10 minutes.
Do yourself a HUGE BIG favour, spend a few pounds more and go with someone else.
As I type with infuriation, I am actually on a call, so far 43 minutes and no closer to solving my issue with them... In fact, it's easy to spend huge amounts of time on the phone to them and get nowhere as they have no clue what they are talking about..
If there is someone you really don't like, you should recommend talktalk., it will be great vengeance for you....

    STAY CLEAR...PLEASE

The customer service is just lip service. My mobile contract is still not up and running since I bought it months ago. I can't access my usage or any other data regarding my account so cannot transfer number or see data or phone usage , which I think is quite important to be able to do.. I have complained many times. Always same outcome, not handled. I don't use that phone contract now even though I have to pay for it. What a rubbish company.

We have been with Talk Talk for quite a few years. Only ever had one problem with out broadband, it turned out to be a broken cable out side our house. We contacted Talk Talk and received a text 4 hours later to say the problem was resolved. Brilliant customer services. We always had a close enough to the speed promised. 2 Years ago we upgraded to their fibre package. Simple and relatively fast process. although an engineer must attend, they wouldn't just send me the router etc. No problem though as the BT engineer turned up did his thing, even rewired the connection in the house to make sure it was decent cable etc. advertised speed is up to 38mbps, I haven't seen it drop below 33mbps since we have had it.

Best service I have had from a communications provider by far. Highly recommended and my family are slowly moving across to Talk Talk as well.

BAD BAD BAD - DON'T BOTHER - talktalk actually don't talk, usual reply to text talk is to refer you to a link, ask you to phone an 0845 number, or say not enough details to answer query( even though they have) basically they have a one stop and drop policy with enquires, they have no training in customer care or what the company can do to meet customers needs. You will never get a contact to go back to to clarify - you will be fob off and then have to raise and enquiry all over again from step 1 - you will get nowhere - they have no skills or experience with customer service because they do not deal with anything!!

Unfortunately, in February 2013 I made the mistake of changing my provider for T.V.,broadband and telephone to TalkTalk. I paid extra for power cables and set up my own system as preferred by TalkTalk saving a fitting fee. The broadband and telephone was not a problem except that TalkTalk told me I had to change my phone number, I later found out this not to be true. From the moment I got the T.V. I had problem after problem with freezing, buffering etc. I completed over forty e mail complaints, had three service engineers and still very poor service. In January 2014 I decided enough was enough and cancelled my contract. They attempted to threaten me with I would have to pay the remaining money owed and tried to charge me for the box. They eventually conceded after I pointed out that they had been fined by of com in 2011 for over charging. They sent a bag to send the box back. I posted it and received a receipt on 10th February 2014, on 16th April 2014 they took by direct debit £150 from my bank account for the box. I had to raise a complaint and after providing the posting code, they conceded that they had received the box on 13th February 2014. I am now awaiting the return of the £150. So BE AWARE IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THIS VERY POOR COMPANY.

Took the Talk Talk mobile deal with 100 free minutes. I later discovered that each call is rounded up to the next minute. For example if you make a 10 second call, this is actually one minute. Therefore you will be lucky to actually receive 50 minutes free calls in reality unless you make one long 100 min call a month. This was never explained at the time of purchase. I tried to complain but offshore call centres make communication extremely difficult. I will not use this company again once my current contract expires.

The worse possible service you can imagine with an industry low standard of just 1Mbps return link speed. Poor HUB hardware, cheap and nasty TV box and an incredibly poor support team who just do not care. Beware it is a total rip off!

But try to leave after a few months because you are fed-up with their service and they just make it impossible and charge you for the privilege of saying goodbye.

Cannot even give them one star!

Had about as much as i can take from talktalk. Had problems with the internet connection dropping out for over a year i finally got sick and tired as internet at home became a lot more vital for work purposes. The current router we had broke down and i was told that this router should have been changed some years ago. After receiving the new router the internet problems became a lot more serious. Numerous phone calls and lots of troubleshooting steps down the line we eventually came to a conclusion they would send out a engineer FREE OF CHARGE, yet after viewing my paper bill today i see that i have been charged £50 for the engineer. On ringing and asking them to check the recorded phone call that i made were the agent agreed this would be free of charge i was told it would take 72 hours for them to listen to this call, but by then the bill would have already of been paid. Not to mention i am still having massive problems with the connection which is having a huge negative impact on myself as i need the internet to do my job. This is a joke. Paying for a service which i am not receiving.

Like many of the other providers listed on here, TalkTalk got a panning (see below) but I chose to go with them due to fact that there was not much between TT and the other providers in terms of customer reviews, and I could pay my line rental up front which, in my current situation, was ideal. £3.50 per month for broad band is a steal. I know the speeds are not lightning quick but if you want super fast speeds then pay extra for Fibre Optic. As my new flat is fairly small, I knew I was never going to be far from the router, which may help, and I always seem to have 4 or 5 bars. No issues so far.

I had a slight issue with my router being delivered to my new flat before I had moved in but I can't ascertain whether that was my errors or their's; however, After sending an email I received a prompt reply informing me to contact Royal Mail to arrange a redelivery, which I did. I had no issues with the go live date and was able to connect straight away. Some videos have been slow buffering but, as I said, I knew about the speeds beforehand and it's not been a major issue.

This is the worst company I have every dealt with. As others have said on this forum, the customer service is absolutely appalling. I've only been with them for two months, but they got my first bill wrong, having promised that they would not charge for connection, it turned up on my bill. I had an email showing that I had agreed this deal, but I still had to spend half an hour on the phone to their overseas customer services department, who seemed to have no knowledge (or access to) the email they had sent me. I was then having trouble getting a signal through the Youview box, even though my aerial gave me a perfect signal through the TV. I explained this over the phone, they told me that they could see no reason why this should be and that there was probably something wrong with the box. I then had to wait two weeks for an engineers visit, who told me that the problem was caused by the signal being split going into the box, and that this was a common problem, and that I would need to get a signal booster because Talk Talk don't provide them. This possibility was never mentioned to me by Talk Talk. I consequently wrote a letter of complaint to the customer services manager, and got a totally inappropriate reply back from someone in the overseas office who did not have a good command of English, and did not address any of the issues I had raised in the letter, but gave me a step by step guide on how to re-tune my Youview box. A few days later I received my bill only to find they had tried to charge me £50 for the engineers visit. I immediately cancelled my direct debit, re-sent the letter of complaint with a further covering letter and a cheque to cover my month's services minus the engineers charge. A few days later Someone from their overseas office called me, and I said I wanted to speak to a manager. They said they would make a note of this on the file, but I never heard back from anyone, only a recorded message threatening to suspend my services. Now they have suspended my phone service which I have paid for! I've never defaulted on a payment in my life and have usually found that it is possible to resolve disputes with companies, who generally want to keep their customers reasonably satisfied - not Talk Talk. I was with Virgin for 20 years with no issues - I only left because I objected to the price increase, but I'm really regretting this move now. I have advised my friends and family not to deal with them, and would advise the same to anyone else. It's so not worth it!

Ive been a talk talk customer for 9 years and in the past two years the internet keeps and shutting down with limited access being shown. Called talk talk customer services about 8-10 times giving me the same reply "turn your router on and off " as they do speak a whole load of crap whislt there at it which makes you wanna go up to them and take the company down. Also the manager had no clue about what there doing along with there usless engineers that claim to have a degree in engineeringwhen all they know is how to change the router box. Still have the same problem .CAN NOT WAIT TO MOVE TO VIRGIN.

So I have had talktalk as a provider for my phone and internet since I lived in Gosport in September 2010, I then moved to Ely, Cambridgeshire in November 2011, and despite phoning and emailing them they were unable to transfer my phone and broadband until a month after I moved but that it turns out was the least of my problems, I added tv to my package when it became available and then in February 2014 I then moved to Benwick, Cambridgeshire and began trying to get my talktalk package transferred to the new house, now at first my new address wasn't available on their system, to the point they asked if it was even registered with Royal mail and said they would have to add it to their system and this would take 3-4 days, a week later I then phoned again to find out what was happening and turns out the request to have my address added had not even been filed so I was told it would take another 10 days - 2weeks, around 2 weeks later I phoned again- at this point I had already moved out of my old house, it was then they told me that they could only provide me with a phone line at my new address, so naturally I requested to cancel this also involved them asking me if I wanted to put my account on hold for 2 months while I thought about it- not much to think about really as I wanted phone, internet and tv, thinking the request for cancellation had gone through I continued to set up my new house with bt as they were able to proivide all services. A month went by and suddenly money for a talktalk bill was taken from my bank account, now I hadn't used any of their services for over a month and having asked for it to be cancelled I got back on the phone to them, where they passed me from person to person hung up on me and tried to refuse giving me my money back, until eventually telling me the only was I could get a refund would be in a months time or unless I filed an indemnity claim with my bank- now I did not see why I should have to wait a month for them to pay back money they had essentially stolen from me so I went ahead and file an indemnity claim at the bank, whilst on the phone talktalk assured me I would be charged no more money and all charges such as early cancellation charges would be voided as they could not provide me with the services I wanted and they had messed me around. Finally I was seeing the light at the end of this rather stressful period, until today (19/04/2014) over 2 months after my first contact with talktalk I receive and email telling me my april bill is ready to be viewed, and this is where I get the biggest shock the bill is a total of £332.15 - listing Contract Breakage Fee charges of £154.92 + YouView+ Box Deferred Fee of £200, so their promises of voiding all charges was clearly yet again another lie and not once did they ask for a return of the youview box, nevertheless they will not on any circumstances be receiving another penny from me as I have cancelled the direct debit, and I refuse to pay for their mistakes and lies.

    Ready to join TalkTalk?...

Then you ALSO need to ready for the following:

Being lied to, repeatedly, by TT's staff members. Regardless of whether they're in the CEO's Office, or in one of TT's many outsourced cust. service centres in India, you WILL be lied to... quite often, in fact, so do be prepared for it.

TT, in my experience, also have a nasty, and regular, habit of dipping their thieving mitts in to a customers' bank account and taking out monies that have no bearing whatsoever on... well, anything at all really! (a.k.a. outright theft).

(TT's favourite practice, in order to facilitate aforesaid thievery, is to get you to agree to pay via Direct Debit so they can take out money whenever they feel like it).

If you are a TT customer, and have agreed to this, you will quickly discover the wisdom behind this decision, particularly if you're someone who checks your bank statement frequently!).

Oh, what else.. Well, there's so many things to tell you, but you know when I said that you will be lied to by TT? (very often). Well, the lying isn't just verbal, as it also extends to WRITTEN LYING, e.g. the service that you bought from them via their on-line advertising and other published or printed paperwork.

Here's an example: You see their ad, saying that you'll get XYZ internet speed, and you end up getting just a tiny fraction of that speed.. and also with terrible quality to boot!

I begrudge giving talktalk one star, as any rating above zero indicates at least some degree of satisfaction, and that is not the case in my own experience.

I stupidly signed up to Talktalk & a bt telephone engineer installed my new phone line at the bottom of my stairs even though I said I wanted it in the living room, he refused - he clearly couldn't be bothered. When I plugged in my router I had to use an extension cable to fit in the plug for my phone & the plug for my router. So I now have a massive tripping & fire hazard at the bottom of my stairs. When I phoned up Talktalk to complain about this, I was told that if the engineer put it there then that is where it should stay! So I complained to the Ombudsman about this - still waiting on a reply. Then my Talktalk TV box arrived & to my horror, I realised that the TV must be plugged into my router - which is in the hall at the bottom of my stairs! This doesn't make sense! Am I supposed to drag my TV into the hall & watch it there! I was then on the phone to Talktalk for an hour trying to get this resolved. Apparently I could just run extension cables into the living room. So my house is to become an even bigger danger. Eventually they agreed to move my phone line, I had to stay on the phone as they filled out the form for this request - apparently I have nothing better to do with my time. I was told that an engineer would phone within 48hrs to arrange a date - that was 3 days ago. So again, I phoned Talktalk this morning, only to be told that they didn't have an update of this on my account! I was then told that it was passed to a manager & someone would phone today. I don't believe they will phone. I am sitting with no TV - even though I am paying for it. I have a fire & tripping hazard on my stairs & when I asked to cancel, I was told that I would have to pay cancellation charges! This is ridiculous - this is all their fault. They then had the cheek to phone me about taking out a Talktalk mobile phone! Trying to complain to Talktalk gets me nowhere - there online help is just trouble shooting & phoning gets me nowhere. I plan to write to Talktalk & give them bad reviews where possible.

This review is about broadband speed.
I am a gamer and I wanted to give talktalk broadband a try. When I finished setting up my broadband I went on youtube only to find out that it keeps buffering, this happens everytime someone uses the internet. My point is that the speed and bandwidth are below minimum. 300 kilobytes per second, as a gamer's point of view that is pretty frustrating. I dont really care about the tv pakage cause I dont watch tv a lot. When I play my games on my computer I cant online multiplayer cause of slow speed. the customer service is absolutly s***. I wouldnt recommend talktalk to any friends on even strangers to be honest. Im now stuck with talk talk for 18 months now and it seems like im gonna have the worst time playing games.

Overall I give talktalk (broadband, tv, phone, customer service) -5 stars

In my view, this is little more than legalized theft. TalkTalk's phone and web service is utterly appalling, and my internet speed, when it does work, is around 1mbps (when it should, apparently, be around 20mbps!).

They have tried several times now to take money straight out of my bank account, for erroneous engineer fees and the "advice" they give out is, at best, fanciful.

They keep sending me text messages, saying I "need" to arrange an engineer appointment... There's no chance of that 'though, because they want to retain the right to charge me for all costs relating to the visit (!).

My advice? Keep a tight check on your monthly bills, and delete the Direct Debit mandate you have with them.

That way, they can't dip their hands in to your bank balance, whenever they feel like it (as they are more than inclined to do).

And if you're thinking of joining TalkTalk, DON'T DO IT.. NOT NOW OR EVER.

    You have been warned!

Internet goes off every 10 mins, customer service staff dont know what they are talking about and can not even speak English we told them we needed a engineer and they said no there is nothing wrong with the line at last we got a engineer out he said there is a fault with the line, phoned back up they still insisted there is nothing wrong also tried charging us £50 for engineer coming out.

They told us we would be getting no less then 7.5 Mbps we are not even getting 5 Mbps, we told them they had broke there T&C but they said there will be a £9 charge per month left on the contract so we told them to canal it and we will pay the money (total of £66)

PERFECT COMPANY OF YOU LIKE YOUR INTERNET CUTTING OFF EVERY 10 MINS

Pay that bit more and go with a good company.!!!!!!!

Didn't even make it to being a customer. Placed order to coincide with moving date, then needed to change installation date at moving date changed and that's when it all went wrong ... absolute appalling service. I was lied to, offered no help, unable to resolve .. totally unhelpful even after going thru complaints depart. And now having to wait 28 days to get money back - quick enough to take it. Avoid at all costs. Lovely sales service but appalling after care!

The worse company I've ever dealt with. I made an order for TalkTalk's Fibre Medium and an appointment was scheduled with an technician to come to the premises to install the line. The technician came and said he was unable to find where the phone line was coming from and that another appointment was required. Okay, these things happen. I'll just have to schedule another half-day off work. TalkTalk schedules a second appointment and once again the technician reports the exact same problem. I thought this was odd because I figured the previous technician would have told him the difficulties he had, but this did not seem to be the case. So for the second time I get an technician trying the same thing and getting the same exact result. Fine, let's book a third appointment. I called customer service this time to find out what was going on, but the guy on the phone, clearly outsourced, had absolutely no clue what I was saying and just kept repeating the same thing over and over "It says here that another appointment is required". No sh*t, but he couldn't tell me why they kept making the same mistake. After realizing I was getting nowhere with this guy, I booked the third appointment. Third half-day off and this time no one shows up. I call TalkTalk and asked what the hell happened?! Apparently they forgot to send my confirmation to BT, so they did not send any technician over. I was furious and was asked to speak to the retentions department. This time I was transfered to someone who spoke English and I explained my entire situation. He apologised for their mistakes, waived the installation fee and scheduled a 4th appointment. I told him to let the BT technician know that this is NOT an easy install. Clearly there is a strange issue that will require a bit more effort than a standard procedure installation.

Fourth appointment comes along and the technician is having the same problems as the previous ones. I told him about the issues the other techs had and asked if he had any notes about this. To my amazement he said no. In other words, technicians came to my premises failed to do finish the job and left no notes. So once again the SAME attempts and the SAME problems. At this point I'm fuming. Four half-days off, 2 months since I placed my Fibre order and every visit since the first is a complete waste of my time.

I send an angry complaint to TalkTalk explaining my entire situation. I point out that they have provided me with zero customer support and, even though the techs were from BT, as their customer they should be ensuring that BT is not going to send another tech to waste my time. The complaint was 7 paragraphs long, very detailed, and I noted that if I get another scripted template answer from them I would leave negative reviews about their crappy service.

Well, I'm here now and as you can imagine their response was a scripted one. There was absolutely no reference to any specifics mentioned in my complaint. The customer rep simply said that they saw on my account that Fibre did not go live since the last appointment and that they've raised an escalation. Absolutely no mention or acknowledgement of my four failed appointments. Nothing in specific to my problems was acknowledge in the response. A template answer is what I got. Ridiculous.

Avoid this company at all costs. They don't know what the meaning of customer service is.
