Our business Broadband stopped working yesterday, I called Talk Talk and after around 1 hour on hold I was advised that Talk Talk had closed our account in error due to an address mix up, and that it would take 21 days to reinstate our service. We have been a loyal customer with Talk Talk for several years. Our direct debit payments were up to date, this is absolutely disgraceful service, we are an on-line retailer who rely on Broadband for our business. This sort of behaivour from Talk Talk is outragious and shows that they really couldn't care less about their customers. DO NOT USE TALK TALK IT COULD RUIN YOUR BUSINESS.

Talk Talk are quite frankly the worse internet provider iv ever been with they were good for the first 2 3 months,

I Never got my minimum guaranteed speed, in fact, i never even got close to the minimum speed

The internet would drop out a lot and would be down for maintenance in the afternoon when i mainly use the internet without any prior notice from talk talk to say maintenance would be carried out

Im now in the process of swapping providers Early my contract isn't due to end for another 6 7 months, but due to how bad the service has been for me im legaly releasing from that contract

if you want my advice never use talk talk

Talk talk is one of the worst network providers. There broadband is slow and the customers service is terrible I am highly disappointed with their service and how unprofessional they are. Once my contract is up I will certainly be going with another network provider.

Wow! 8 weeks and still NO Broadband. Customer service advisers are useless, engineers haven’t showed up twice, don’t even have the decency to let you know. Out of pocket for extra child care whilst I had to sit in on my days off waiting for them to show and didn’t. Called to complain was told I would be called back after 2, needless to say I had to make 2 phone calls the next day still no further forward! Couldn’t rate the broadband speed or reliability as I still don’t have any, but if its anything like the service I’ve received so far then i can’t imagine it’s any good x

Talk Talk is perhaps the worst ISP I have had the misfortune to encounter. It has plagued my home with connection difficulties since the day I bought it. Not only has the extremely slow connection been problematic, I have also experienced a year (yes a year!) of inconsistent connection with repeated internet droppings throughout the day. Customer services have been polite with me, and seemed sincere enough when understanding my frustrations with their service, yet despite an excess of 20 phone calls spread over the year and countless hours wasted listening to hold music whilst some operator performs "service checks" the problem has never resolved, and neither do I believe TalkTalk are capable of resolving it. The speed is also significantly below what I would expect to be paying for, and even browsing the web has proved a challenge.

The purpose of this review is to expose the TalkTalk sham of a service, and I aim to dissuade any misinformed people to steer as far away from this train wreck as a possible. Overall, I think it near impossible to express my dissatisfaction of the service in words, but have aimed to do my best with this writing.

Quite frankly, TalkTalk in my experience provides a service nobody deserves to have to endure.

Moved to TT from BT and the whole process was totally painless. Speeds are identical to BT (which aren't great, but proximity to the box is an issue). Router arrived as promised and was a doddle to set up. All in all - one month in - I'm very pleased.

    Greedy scammers.

As my contract was ending, I called them so that it wouldn't renew. They said it would be cancelled, yet it wasn't. I was moved to a different, more expensive contract anyway. When I called to cancel again, they said they knew I'd called to cancel a month ago, but they had no idea why it wasn't cancelled. So now I have to pay a cancellation fee and pay for the broadband for another month or two.

    Utter scum!

Way too stressful to deal with. What a joke of a failed sign-up recently. Ordered broadband online on Sunday after line checks etc. Then told Monday there was a problem - my line was not strong enough to take fibre broadband. My current service is fibre, my provider before them was fibre and before that I was with TalkTalk ON FIBRE for 18months. The sign up itself was fraught with problems as the system would not accept my email at first due to being a previous customer.
    I decided to cancel.
Now despite their name their is nobody to TalkTalk to on the phone as you need to enter your phone number, which not being a customer does not let you through!!
Three days of being lied to on their chat system and I still do not know if it is cancelled (a direct debit was set up today). Just wait and see and go through it all again I suppose.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS - I will never ever try to return to them again.

Speed always slow. Recently very unreliable. Customer service just go through the motions. Recently they sent an 'engineer' who was so rude and aggressive I had to ask him to leave my house. I went through their online system to report this and request advice as to what to do next. Guess what? A few days later I get an email saying my message was undeliverable, domain problems or whatever. This company is a disgrace.

We are on talktalk unlimited business fibre broadband for nealy 8 months. We never had any speed problems at any time of day until the start of February 2015. There was no connection to the internet between 5pm-11pm every day. I contacted talktalk and logged my complaint on 2nd Feb 2015.
This did not make any difference. They asked me to submit my speed tests which I did at the intervals they asked me to. Then they asked me to forward them some PING tests and TRACERT test which I also did. As of 21st Feb 2015 the problem is still there. In fact it has become worst now. Over the weekends there is no internet connectivity throughout the day. I have kept calling them every 2nd day and every time I was told a different story of progress on there end. Some times I was told it was issue in the area, other time BT is looking into it, then their own network team is looking into it, then they said there is no issues on their end. Then they said to moved to a lower ADSL package as they have issue on 'UPPER LEVEL' and they don't know when their 'TOP MANAGEMENT' will look into it.
They techicnal team is most of the times rude and talk to you like they need to go loo and they are in very rush. I can not recommend Talk Talk to any one else.

Normally I don't write reviews but my recent experience with taltalk made Me write this one. I had been been Virgin for the past 14 years and they charged me a fortune! Signed up with talk talk despite all the negativity on the Internet and warnings from friends and colleagues to stay away from them. Came home from work one day and rang talk talk to cancel my order, the lady at customer services very professionally convinced me to try the talk talk services. Now I am pleased that I listened to her!! The engineer turned up 10 mins before the appointment time, I was live on broadband service within 1 hour. My phone line went live one day later and my you view box arrived which connected very easily using power line adapters and it's working fine! I was told my BB speed would be up to 38MB and I am getting about 35/36 mb which more than I need!
So far so good well done talk talk!!! And the customer service I got was amazing!! Thank you all at Talk Talk

Stay away from talktalk, they throttle down speed after cooling off period

Unbelievable I signed up for 65mb it was fine within cooling off period as soon as cooling off period is over they throttled my speed down to single figure, i am IT professional i know how its done on servers and on switches, it’s outrageous I can’t even open a page, most pages a chached they will only show text no images because its not loading real time. Talk talk show some honestly when you make some promises learn to at least respect yourself, you are spitting on your own face by doing these shady trick, this is load balancing , why they do it? It’s because they have two shady sides, one to put more and more contracts, by making all sort of promises, then cooling off period, lastly a small bandwidth with huge number of customers increasing so that where their engineers are sitting there and trying to balance load, they can throttle speed it takes one command and no matter what you do, you will only get tiny amount of bytes, you call their customers service they will treat you like a fool, ask you to carry of stupid things, i guess its first line obviously they aren’t ccna or mcse etc they are just doing what they are told, i was with Vodaphone they do something’s sometimes but in 2 years it was perfectly stable most of the time. But this one in just two months, I can’t believe. I will report this to ombudsman, stay away from this company

This company didn't deserve even one star. The worst internet provider I ever came across. I just don't have internet. I spend more time on the phone with them than my my closest family. They promise to fix and nothing ever gets gets done, I am paying for no internet... and I spend my evenings waiting for them to answer my call then going through numerous assistants answering the same questions that leads to nowhere... it's just shame for such a company to exist! I guess cancelling my direct debit is the only option. RUN AWAY WHEN YOU SEE TALK TALK

Most of the days, after 12 AM in the night, there won't be any internet connection. When I want to see a movie in the night after a hectic day it is not possible. And they don't even have a 24*7 customer care to report the issue. With paying around 29 GBP a month (which is relatively high compared to other networks) this is the experience I am getting. I have been using Plusnet for sometime. And I think it was much better than this one. I never experienced any connection issues.

The worst one of all. Customer service is absent. The managers are having a laugh. I was overcharged by £80 for two months when they failed to cancel my contract. Response was "I can only apologise" and "Don't think you're paiying too much read at your bill breakdown not just the first page" this is two months after virgin took over. The manager was trying to say I pay good money for something I font use !!!! No comment

My talk talk is suppose to activate today (5/12/19) they didn’t tell me exact time, they only told me that my activation date is 5/12/19. Now it’s 9:00 pm I rang them to tell that there are still no signals and a rude woman replied YOU HAVE TO WAIT TILL 12PM. I understand, but she can tell me in good manners. Totally rubbish customer service .

Poor speed - not what I pay for. customer service is also poor, with their agents phoning at odd times of the day, in an hard to understand accent that is hard to recognise whether it is a scam (I have been scammed unsuccessfully) so am doubly careful about unidentified calls.

Called talk talk repeatly only to get the automated line which kept telling us nothing wrong with the line. Finally aft 6 months told us we had 2 phone numbers this was the reason, asked for a refund for the 6 months only to get £12.50 back. Cant wait for my contract to end,and will never recomend talk talk to anyone.

Was told that as an existing customer I had to have full fibre installed, although I do not need or want it.
Had 4 men making a mess in my garden and house, who then went away without the fibre working.
received texts telling me to contact via web chat which is always busy.
19 days later still not working and finally got through on the phone. 40 minutes later and I have cancelled the fibre.
A shambles and they don't even seem to be aware of how bad they are.

I am a retired doctor and live on a farm about 200 meters from Main Road , All services are poor or non existent, but the Broadband is completely hopeless , maximum I have managed is 0.5 MBPS Download , 0.3 mb Upload from a normal phone wire . It is impossible to surf the net etc . Only thing we manage is email and WhatsApp . Nothing

If 0 was possible I would still be classed as benevolent. Tried to close an account today! Two hours of back and forth, transfer, what you like sir, transfer, here's an out of hours contact number to call, alright, here's a number you can call, but we can offer you a better deal. I DON'T WANT ONE!! Now I've got to give them 30 days notice, I think I'm out of contract anyway. Hum ho, gladly pay an extra month to be rid of these incompetents. Sad, because never had a problem with their service (technical), sad to say their customer service is not even comparable to a TV comedy show. Next time I need a contract, sorry ladies and gentlemen at Talk Talk, you won't even be in the game! APPALLING.

I have been with Talk Talk about a year. Was offered a new, as sales team says, super fast router. However, in my opinion this router can't be described like this. Since installation, have systematic problems with connection and wifi signal - couldn't watch any videos and films, even you tube didn't work - simply didn't work. Bought a new router from a market known as TP-Link and which is much cheaper (£24) than Talk Talk "Super Fast" router (£79.99). Contacted customer service in regards to new router and they suggested to buy a router from them instead of buying it from the market. Moreover, they also refused to give a guide on how to install explaining that they do not know anything about it and company's router (Talk super fast router) is very simple and can be easily set up after delivery. Very disappointed with the customer service and inability of Talk Talk team to offer adequate solution to the problem!
The router I bought is super fast indeed and simply fantastic! Moreover, it is much cheaper that Talk Talk router. Most importantly, I can now watch videos online.

Was with AOL since 1998 until May 2015, AOL customer service was excellent until Talk Talk took them over then the disconnections from the internet several times per week and had to power off/on the router. When my account was finally transferred to Talk Talk and as I had broadband only contacted them to enquire when my contract ends that could I continue on broadband only, the answer I got was why don't I change the phone account to them when I said no they replied saying that I could not just have broadband only. I then asked for the MAC code and just had delays and excuses why I could not get it, I finally got the code and went to BT who have had the phone with and would not move. Since I changed to BT have better down/up speeds on the ADSL and no problems like I had with Talktalk.

Absolute pile of rubbish. Been with this useless company for 10 years now only because of its low price. Stupid workers from India can't speak proper English or sort a problem out. Will tell you their name is John or Ellie and put on English accent which doesn't fool anyone. Internet is super slow even if you buy fibre optic it's just as abysmal. Disconnects all the time and will make your internet life an utter misery. If more than 2 people connect to wifi you will 99% lag out. AVOID AVOID!!

signed up febuary live 21/02 only phone no internet as too slow to get on mobile phone , Tech manager phoned 24/03 to do line test managed to get me to disconnect to bare wires hanging from wall said they'd get engineer out to reconnect inbetween foreign swear words and saying i was blind as well as f****** deaf (i wear hearing aids) stated would not be charged while disconnected ,Despite lots of call on mobile virgin and chat using all my allowance on mobile hotspot up over 2 nights in june plus at other times as well . Finally managed to get a complaint in progress in September i have no hair now, so upgraded my mobile hotspot to 40gb a month with three .Did bank account check shock horror i had had 142.50 stolen from my oap pension by yes talktalk stopped DD, that was basis of complaint plus no service . So engineer came reconnected and didn't like what i said about doing line test with screwdriver as per instruction from talktalk . Anyway got line back on and broadband at last but only 0.11 download and zero upload on the 13/11 they offered me a refund of 34.73 to be taken off outstanding charges of over £70 which included late payment charges for late payment on charges whilst not connected .cost over £150 to get rid of them and that was with cancelling with no penalties . It was worth it as at nearly 70 years old i didn't want anymore stress xmas now cancelled till march as still paying off overdraft caused by them taking money from bank account . Maybe dry toast dipped in tea for xmas dinner but i am well rid of talktalk.

WORST company ever to deal with. Internet service was OK until router stopped working - had to fight hard for a replacement. Now trying to leave is a disaster. We have emigrated overseas and still trying to close our account. They have assured us multiple times that they would waiver our last bill and now they are chasing us for it. They make promises on the phone but refuse to put them in writing - then they do the opposite to what they promised. Customer service is dreadful, complaints process is dreadful, company is diabolical.

Have been a customer for 16 years and experience annual outages lasting anywhere from 1 day to several days. Haven’t had any service for 5days this time. Initially, calls were dropped by talk talk when I was telephoning. Internet was reporting outages in London and first eventual contact stated engineers working on problem. That changed to my router being the problem. It is the latest router that they advertise for £80. Awful company since the buyout 2yrs ago by a US company. Dreadful customer service reading from prepared scripts.

do i have to give a 1 star?, why not 0 stars.
to say my time with talk talk has been bad would be an understatement, month after month of snailband and month after month of phone calls to a team that while very polite ( to the point of inducing disbelief) are completely incompetent, how many tiames will my settings be "reset" with the promise of things improving only for the same ridiculously slow speeds or signal dropping. arggggghh!
I have to advise STEER CLEAR OF TALK TALK, you have been warned.
thankfully i am close to the end of the proverbial tunnel so i can leave after which myself nor any members of my family will ever go to this sham of an isp "provider"
I get a stronger signal from my neighbours internet than my own which is completly ridiculous.

    AVOID at ALL costs.
I have been with talk talk over a year and throughout that time I have had very bad internet/wifi. More or less as soon as I started with them I had to call to say I was not getting any wifi signal, there started the dreadful journey of incompetency where I was assured again and again that things have been tweaked or settings changed and the results should be seen in the next few days. I DID NOT! Again more calls more tweaks more waiting.
After many months (nearly a year) eventually I demanded an engineer comes round, when the engineer did come he did some tests and announced that I had a faulty Modem all along!
I ring talk talk and after many long waits and numerous disconnections mid call without any call back I eventually speak to someone from an overseas centre claiming to be a manager, after a further hour trying to explain that I should be compensated for what has always been a hardware fault they failed to diagnose I am told that this form of issue is not eligible for compensation. After telling them I was disgusted that they have allowed me to call again and again and failed to diagnose a hardware issue they should be taking responsibility, this fell on deaf ears and I was offered £5 as a “loyal” customer, I undoubtedly told him where he can stick this £5 and again explained their hardware was always at fault and as such they should take RESPONSIBILITY, again this was refused.
My only advice to others is talk talk is an incompetent and irresponsibly provider you should AVOID at all costs both financial cost and the cost to your sanity.

Talk Talk is the worst internet service provider ever, probably you get better internet in some third world countries than in the Manchester, UK from Talk Talk. Keep disconnecting, very-very slow, unreliable . Customer service is non existing.

My mother is their customer and account holder. Averages around 30 mbs download and 9 mb upload when it is working. Problem is it doesn't work properly about 70% of the time. It does this across all devices in our home. They play nice for a bit, maybe a few months if you are lucky, and then go back to stalling your internet or just cutting it off every 10 - 30 minutes or so. When you call in with an issue you will struggle to have your problem validated - they probably hope people get tired in the circuit of gaslighting on that customer service line. It also drops to dismal levels if someone is streaming something. Fair enough it can drop but to be at around 5% it's usual download speed? Really? Struggling to load a google searches this past week after 9.

Over the last month (July 2021) my wifi has started just dropping out consistantly every 5 to 10 minutes. Some days it's on and off, other days its down for 10hours straight.

When it is working it can now barely load a basic website.

I'm losing out on work because I can't get anything done!!

This hasn't been a problem previously. I've been with Talk Talk for 2 years (in 2 different flats) - This just started a month ago and has been consistantly terrible since.

    - if you manage to get hold of Customer service they just tell you to unplug everything then plug it back in.

I'm paying for a service that I can't use. I literally just need to get onto the internet for work! I'm not running anything hightech or using multiplr devices and I'm the only person in the house.

DON'T PICK TALK TALK IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE.

Terrible customer service, always blame faults on the customer, then attempt to charge to have issues fixed. My broadband has been dropping out every 30 min - 60 mins for the past week or so, cannot stream anything through wifi without it constantly dropping, do not sign up to talk talk not the first time I have had connection dropping issues and as pointed out they always try to blame the customer instead of taking responsibility for faults in their service.
