Absolutely terrible:- customer service, download speed, upload speed, continuity of service and router !!. If your thinking of an internet PROVIDER, this company isn't the place to look. I'm leaving them and will fight the legal ramifications that will come along with it. AVOID this company at ALL costs !!!.

I'm not a keyboard warrior. Most of the time I can't be bothered to leave reviews but I had to for Talk Talk. They are so rubbish at their job it's laughable. I have super slow broadband, they have charged me for repairing it. I have to pay over £200 to leave and am seriously considering as they are HORRIFIC. If I was as bad at my job as they are at theirs I would never be employed. Do not be tempted with their cheap deals, you get what you pay for and it's just not worth it. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!

Absolutely rubbish, a internet provider should not be able to take money of people when their service is this bad. Waste of time. You will regret it if you use talk talk. Internet is slow and when it works it can't handle anything on the internet which shows a red light on the box. Not a good word to say about them.

Absolutely shocking service, been waiting for 10 days for them to connect our broadband, which is fair enough. Called them up as it wasn’t live on the 10th dAy. They said it would be another 5-7 working days. Called them after 7 working days were up, got told it was going to be another 3-5 working days. After 5 days called to ask if we can cancel as still had no broadband as they promised. Got told we couldn’t cancel and was going to be Another 3-5 days. After 5 days still no broadband. So we called up and eventually was able to cancel out of our contract, due to their poor service. Would not recommend to anyone!

Terrible company, have had no emails for 15 days now. I have rung every single day as instructed but all they say is they will escalate my problem and for me to ring in 24 hours.
How hi can you escalate after 15 days????
I have lost work because of this useless company and now have changed my provider. Please please don't use Talk Talk.

On request to leave Talk Talk I was apparently 'locked' into contract I wasn't aware of and they want to charge £138 to leave!! Although offered discounts to stay and forced to stay due to costs, I have lost out on a very good deal with Plusnet. Cant wait to leave and will never renew with Talk talk again!

TalkTalk is cheap, but you get what you pay for. The broadband service was slow and dropped out frequently.

There were multiple problems with billing. Either they would bill me too much or they would apply credit to my account and take it away again, creating confusion that they couldn't understand.

I once made an official complaint about the billing mess, and they never even bothered to reply.

Their customer service is really poor. Their call centre staff are all overseas and have poor English. Even if they understand the problem, they have no ability to help you. You have to spend ages waiting to talk to someone.

Add to this the fact they they apparently treat your personal details with no care at all, allowing them to be stolen and used by fraudsters, and you're left with the UK's worst broadband and phone provider.

    Avoid like the plague.

"Please avoid the same mistake I made with Talktalk. They can ruin your experience. After the contract ends, when you leave Talktalk, they might generate a small invoice under the admin heading. If you attempt to pay online, they might block the payment completion. Eventually, they'll involve a recovery company and report to the credit record agency (equifax.co.uk).

I completely terminated my association with Talktalk on May 7th. I ensured that everything was in order and specifically inquired if any further actions were required. They assured me that everything was settled, and I was disconnected. However, just two days later, they generated a minor invoice for an admin fee of £8.72. I tried to pay it promptly due to its small amount but was unable to proceed as they had already partially blocked my Talktalk account.

Subsequently, they engaged a recovery company, and I received a letter. I immediately settled the payment of £25. Despite this, Talktalk reported this incident to the credit records, severely impacting my mortgage application process. I've made numerous calls to Talktalk, but their unhelpful and unfriendly demeanor persists.

While I subscribed to Talktalk for broadband services, I never received the promised broadband speed that I paid for.

In my opinion, Talktalk's business practices lack ethical standards. I strongly urge the financial ombudsman to investigate Talktalk's services to prevent others from becoming victims like myself."

If I could give less I would. So after signing up for and paying for TalkTalk’s WiFi they managed to set up a direct debit... that’s it! The day of my “go live” date no engineer turned up and I hadn’t received either my welcome pack or the router I was supposed to have gotten days before. The explanation was that the engineer required extra parts and they would call me the next day to let me know what was happening. They did not but when I called them I was told that they had cancelled the account because it had timed out because they had failed to order the engineer the parts they needed on time. Meaning I would have to place a new order with them (at my own expense) which would take another 14 working days. No offer of any form of compensation and although I was told that they “understand” I only got an apology for the inconvenience not their gross ineptitude. After speaking to them over the phone and asking to be transferred to a manager I was instead passed to another rep 3 times before eventually being transferred to a manager who offered precisely nothing but promised that if I took out another order with them they’d monitor it to make sure they didn’t screw up again and that they’d get the sales team to call me in 10-15 minutes as he couldn’t transfer me directly. 45 minutes later I took out a contract with BT as I still hadn’t heard back and had my problems sorted in less than 12 hours. If TalkTalk ever bother to get in touch with me again I’ll give them an ear full but I suspect they value their customers so poorly they won’t even try!

Really awful internet speeds, always cutting out. Also upped my price to a different tariff without telling me and started charging £30 instead of £20 after my contract ended.

Our exchange is a small village exchange, 900 residential lines, 40 business lines... copper cable only.
For 8 years I struggled with TalkTalk Broadband paying £15 for broadband plus a mandatory £7.50 for Broadband Essentials (never did find out what that meant).
I had rubbish service all those years AND each time I contacted TalkTalk I was made to do the same stupid 20 tests. The problem was never my system or my phone line.
After years of discussion on TT forums I was told by a TT Moderator 'insufficient bandwidth - it will never improve' yet still TT kept taking £22.50 each month for a service they blatantly failed to provide. Through a 'contact' I was able to see inside the local exchange and WTheck! there was Local Loop Unbundling BUT not to improve my speed to actually cram my line in with other TT lines and squueze them into fewer BT lines going onwards. So LLU resulted in reduced bandwidth and rubbish service.. often less than 1MB download!!

I'm now with BT since 4 months and ALWAYS get 6.8/6.9MB download, without fail!! and it's cheaper.

Cheating TalkTalk knew they were doing things to maximise their profit by stuffing the speed of customers.. How bad is that!!!!!!!!

Maybe TT service is OK in larger, more modern exchanges, BUT if you are serviced by old copper wires then get to BT because TT will only take your money.

Gee, how I dislike the bad business erthics of TalkTalk.

Even the CEO management team acknowledge the above info but refuse to consider any refund.

What a bunch of poor service providers!!!

So I am going to break down my so far a "brief" experience with Talk Talk Broadband so far.

HOW I GOT A TALK TALK CONNECTION:

My wife & me, we purchased a new house and we needed a Fridge to store all the food. So one fine Saturday (21st of April), we walk in to our local Curry's PC World and select a Kenwood Fridge Freezer (quite a huge for a £300 refrigerator). We got it for a 6 months interest free finance since we are a young couple completely broke after having our savings all gone on the mortgage deposit. So after filling all the forms related to the finance option for purchasing the fridge, the sales adviser gets the hint that we moved into a new property so she asked if we have a broadband connection already. Reluctantly, but yet honestly, I say NO (because I knew she would try to sell me something that I didn't want to buy). Hearing that, she offered to checks what broadband was best for the area I live in. After running some checks and the internet calculating some algorithms, she says Talk Talk was offering the best deal for a couple (who aren't heavy internet users) living in a house for £25/month (24 months contract) for Faster Fibre Broadband. I am still reluctant since I already knew Virgin Fibre Broadband is the best internet provider in the U.K and I was planning to get one once we moved into our new property. But then, the sales adviser (I wish I knew her name because I am thankful to her and I will reveal as to why in a while) tells me that if we get this broadband, we would be eligible for a £50 Curry's PC World Voucher. (WooHoo!! I like free vouchers) I look at my wife. She knows I want to use that voucher when I buy a new computer. The look she gives me, I knew she wants to use that to buy a new washing machine. Lol. Nevertheless, Free Voucher. I'm in. I sign up for Talk Talk Fibre Broadband (Faster version).

    THE WAIT:

So we move in to our new house with no internet (26th April). I check my letter box, and I see a letter from Talk Talk stating that I would be receiving my Wifi Router in a couple of days before my Go Live date of; 4th of May [midnight] (May the 4th Be with You). I check my remaining H3G (Three) 3G data. I have around 2GB or data remaining until my monthly allowance gets renewed. I will have to subsidize my usage until then. My wife checks her remaining allowance, her's is better but she is an "Instagram-er" so I tell her to limit her usage until we get the connection.

    April, 30th

We get our Wifi Router in a neat little box. We are anxious. We are low on data. I have 1.5 GB remaining while my wife has message from H3G saying she has 600 MB remaining. I suggest my wife we contact the customer service to see if we could get the Go Live date pushed a bit earlier than the 4th of May. I ask her to call the customer services number (She is more confident on the phone while I am with the keyboards). After dialing the numbers, and dialing some more as per the automated voice instructions within the calls, my wife gets put through to an operator (I will not mention his name because my wife thinks he might get in trouble if Talk Talk reads my review) who says his work is based in South Africa who also happens to be of Indian origin (My Wife & Me were born and brought up in India as well) so this chap starts to be friendly and starts talking about India and he mentions how he thinks a lot of people in the UK are addicted to internet. (LOL) And says he would endeavour to get our go live date forward.

    May, 2nd

My wife's 3G Data is exhausted and will only be replenished after a fortnight.
I check my data, 800 MB remaining, I am confident, I will survive.

May, 3rd (The Internet is Tomorrow)

I check www.bbc.co.uk like I usually do. According to a survey, they say, Talk Talk is the worst. Damn it. I am worried now. I go online to see how customer's felt about the service. So I am here in this very site; lots and lots of negative review with occasional 5 Stars review. But I am aware that only people with bad experience tend to voice their experience while the people who have had good experience don't really bother putting up their review. Gosh!! lots of bad reviews. I see that the broadband speed depends upon how far we live from the Telephone Exchange. I quickly check how far do I live from my local telephone exchange. I happen to be 3.1 miles away according to Google Maps. I don't know whether that is good or bad. Well, I guess we will just have to wait and watch.

We are back home after work. It is 7 pm. I set up the router to console my data hungry wife. I tell her that she can use the Wifi first thing in the morning (as tomorrow on the 3rd of May would be 4th, the internet day). It was quite an easy installation. Clear instruction on the Box. I switch the router on. Lights start to blink. Yada yada yada. Easy Peasy. I offer to set up the Wifi password on my wife's OnePlus 5 phone. I input the password and hand over the phone to her.

After a long day, I lay on the bed contemplating the movies I would watch online, the TV series that I have missed out, the songs I would listen; my wife storms in the room with a glow on her face up and starts jumping around (I've never seen her happier than that other than the time I bought her hamburger back in 2014 when she had no money. She says she is connected to internet. I don't believe her. She connects her phone to our Anker Sound Core Bluetooth Speakers (got it off Amazon for £30. Pretty good product for that price) and plays the song "Simsime Pani" by VTEN on YouTube.
I jump around with her while she dance to the song. Hahaha. It was fun.

Our internet connection went live before the estimated date/time. We are overjoyed. I run a speedtest on speedtest.net, I get a 35 mbps down speed with 9 mbps up speed with 15 on ping. Happy with the result, I take a screenshot of the result, post it up on Facebook. Happy. Happy. After a minute; *Ting I get a first Facebook notification using Talk Talk. I see that a friend from Romania replied to my post with a screenshot of his broadband speed. Frigging 125 mbps download speed. Who requires that kinda speed??? He tells me he pays €10 for his internet. Sigh!! I guess it is true, when you get something good, someone else will always have something better. LOL.

Thank You little lady from the Curry's PC World for convincing me to get Talk Talk internet. I hope you received some kinda commission from Talk Talk for selling me their product.

It was quite a long wait from the 21st April until 3rd of May but nevertheless, I happy with the speed so far.

    May, 4th

    (email received 3 am)
Talk Talk: You broadband is Live. Lol.
The email states that the internet speed is supposedly going to get even better over the next 10 days period. We shall see. If shall post a review again if I get a reason to become unhappy. But ya, so far, so good.

In short, so far so good. Best deal for the price. Decent customer service. Overall satisfaction after using it for about couple of hours after going live, Great. £600 for two year for no set up fee. That's not bad at all.

This service is absolutely disgusting. I have been with talk talk for several months and can not use the service I am paying for. The customer service is appalling. After several hours of phone calls over the last 3 months I think I have had one conversation that was pleasant. They either get ratty with you or just disconnected my call although I have been pleasant throughout. The speed is fast when it actually works although apparently the only time it will connect is when I am on the phone to them.I would not advise anyone to take this service as you are paying for something you can't use and they won't let you out of the contract. I don't feel they even warrant one star overall as the service is disgraceful and the only saving grace was one nice adviser who if he has any sense will move to a more reputable company

Wow, I have used every broadband in the country but these guys are by far the worst. 0.96mb download and 1.2mb upload for almost £40 per month.

So ive had the broadband installed, but the TV doesnt get installed until next week. However, i found out my cooling off period ends today, which is a week before the TV is even installed?????????????

Now I understand why they tie you into 2 YEAR CONTRACTS and put the COOLING OFF PERIOD TO END, BEFORE SERVICES ARE INSTALLED.
    Please be aware.

I called the customer services (in south africa) and they are unable to help improve the speed of less than 1mb. So i have had no choice to to cancel before my cooling off period ends.

Lucky I found this out today. I mean who:
    - put a cooling off period to end before the services are installed
    - sells broadband at nearly £40pm with speeds of 1mg

Dont trust this company 1 bit.

I have been using Talk Talk from more than 5 months. Except the internet speed there is nothing really great to share about Talk Talk. Daily atleast once i have reset/resatrt my Router otherwise it wil not work [ The router is provided by talk talk ] only. And atleast 2 to 3 hours i will get 403 forbidden Error , and few hour internet will not work for no reason. Still I don't have option to quit as i am in 18 months plan [ Any suggestion please]. And the worst part is they suddenly changed the bill plan from this month which they increased almost 4 to 5 pound per month.Fo discussing all these issues i have called Customer care N number of times but it will on queue for hours and hours. Really irritated with such a worst service.

This company is taking full subs every month, but is not providing customer service or anyway of contacting them. Its using covid-19 as the excuse. They have no face to face contact with the public there should be no issue with staffing.

After quite a few years TalkTalk have now lost a customer spending approx. 45 per month. My son bought a new computer costing him 500 pounds. It didnt connect to the wifi so i called their scripted customer helpline. No help at all. I then spoke to a Manager who advised that as other devices worked in my home then it was nothing to do with TalkTalk! I advised them that it was a compatibility issue so needed them to fix it. They sent an engineer who changed the router, the service was still poor, no wi-i for my son and the engineer said if this doesnt work then i cant help! Theyre not interested in existing clients just new ones...so i beg everyone not to go with talktalk. I contacted knowhow who changed the security on my router to allow my son to get access. I then called Sky and they are installing in 10 days! I hate poor service and a disregard for customers. Goodbye Talktalk and good ridence!

TalkTalk Business installed a business line in my new premises. During the transfer of my existing phone number they messed it up resulting in all my lines and net access being cut off. They said a week to restore it!!!! This is talktalk mistake but I am picking up the full cost that could potentially run into tens of thousands of pounds. No phones, no email, no SIP trunks! In the middle of a global pandemic as if business isnt already hard enough! I was promised a call back within 8hrs (i kid you not!) from a “manager” to discuss my query, and guess what....they never called me back. DO NOT take any service with talk talk. You will be read pre scripted lines at customer service. You will here “i understand” and “im sorry” dozens of times which in itself is extremely frustrating because believe me they have zero understanding of the dire consequences for a small business for this to happen! They will do absolutely nothing to help you out of a situation they have caused. Avoid like the plague and go with a telco who will move heaven and earth to fix a situation they created and understand this type of mistake can sink a business very quickly.

As a new customer got a date 19th july 2019 then they cancelled the day it with a text message and to followip with a call which never came. Reason for first cancellation was quite silly and seemed an obvious lie . A second date given for installation on 24th july. Today received a similar text to the first time of delay and we might have to postpone to a newer date. Already all the signs are there to not take their services and getting out of their clutches wasn’t easy which is always a bad sign. ( less than one minute of call if you are a calling to join compared to 20 odd minutes of holding if you want to be transferred to the cancellation department and that too they will send you to some wrong department in the end)I have had enough and don’t wish to be their customer.
Thankyou for showings your true colours very early on. I treally am grateful!!

Cancelling my service after my contract had ended was a nightmare. I've been forced to pay for over an extra month after I wanted to close my account.

Even finding the information about cancellation was difficult enough, then rather than simply pressing a button on my account, I had to spend ages on hold before finally getting through to someone who could cancel the account.

I had to do this twice because the first time it wasn't actioned. Then I received ANOTHER bill for another whole month totalling a month and a half being paid for when I wasn't even using their service.

They told me I'd be refunded the extra half month, but I have to contact them to ask for it back (even more needless hoops to jump through) in over a months time.

Talktalk think you have nothing better to do than constantly chase them when you want to ko longer be their customer, giving them the cancellation to squeeze every last penny out of you.

If you want to use their service, you may as well just put up with them forever because they won't make leaving them easy or fair.

The customer service rep became irate with me when I asked how I could leave feedback on their cancellation policy and could only give me a postal address telling me "no we don't have an email".

An Internet company...doesn't have an email for customer feedback?!

Of course they don't, that would make improving their service too easy.

The worst company I have ever dealt with. Customer service is not in the UK unlike what the adverts say, very rude people and you can't understand anything they say. We signed up 5 days ago and we are cancelling today and even that is a difficult task for them...We were mis sold the internet and tv package - internet speed slower than the minimum promised, tv signal is awful. We wanted to log a complaint but their system for complaints was down. We wanted to speak to a manager, the manager was away.
    Stay away!

Just a nightmare you never wake up from. The worst service I have ever experienced. You get sent from one person to another. They never answer the question you ask but rely on a script. Save yourself a whole lot of pain and use someone else. I moved to Vodafone, not one problem.

Utterly terrible customer service. Constantly being hung up on by customer services, they pretend they can’t hear me when I try and query when they are coming to install my line.

Do not do business with this company

I have been with talktalk for almost 2 years. They recently offered me fibre optic for £5 extra, I wish I hadn't. Dial up is quicker and the speeds are almost half of my original broadband. When I called their so called customer service, I was told to plug a laptop into the router so they could check the speeds, when I explained that we only use mobiles and tablets on broadband they told me they would send an engineer at a cost of £60 to me!!!!! There was clearly a speed issue when they tested the wifi. I haven't done anything about getting it sorted and I am now going to complain to every regulatory body I can find that will help.

Have had nothing but problems since join them for phone, broadband and TV. Have had to have a new router for Internet as it failed, have an engineer out twice for the phone and twice we have upgraded TV packages and not been able to access them for days. It is now 17 days since we took out our last package and we still can't access any of the channels despite 5 calls to their customer service and technical departments and 3 promised call backs within 72 hours none of which have happened. Today speaking to their technical department manager I am told they are still investigating the issue I told them about 17 days ago and I have to give them 28 days total to sort it. The customer service is a joke promises of your problem had been esculated to the relevant department who will sort this ASAP. 17 days being charged for channels we can't watch and when I tell them I want to leave get told its £240 as we are still in contract. Yet they are not providing the services they are contracted to do so. Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy let alone family or friends. I can see why Ofcom voted them worst Customer service provider to do with Internet and home phone.

I'm so tired of fighting with you @TalkTalk. Everyone have to know when they choose the telecommunications company to not choose yours! 5 months of fighting with you on the phone, I spent hours to find somebody who could help me to resolve the problem! Every single time you just promised to improve the connection but nothing happened.
TalkTalk just want your money and they don't want give anything back.
They don't provide any services for you! They are just stealing the money from your pockets! Don't go with them.

TallkTalk are appalling on every level. We have 0.4mbps on our broadband and are told this meets the accepted service levels. The service is intermittent with broadband dropping up 6 times an hour, phone lines dropping and currently no service at all. Customer support is a joke - if you can get through the automated system without the message 'we're working on it, goodbye' to talk to a call centre person, they'll ask you to perform increasingly bizarre actions that clearly won't fix your phone fault. Good luck if you can find anybody to resolve issues - the head of complaints can't be bothered to reply themselves and you'll get an automated letter with no contact info. Says it all really - a company that can't be bothered. Unless it's sending you a bill.

The worst company I have ever dealt with.
Every time I have needed to contact them it has taken me at least an hour to complete a simple task. I have made phone calls regarding bills in which they have charged me triple that I should be paying and they are unable to tell me why they are charging me over £65 a month; not one of these phone calls have been recorded meaning I need to go through everything again. My router cuts out several times every night for no reason, talktalk are also unable to tell me a reason why. I have also tried to leave many times, which they do not allow. I simply get put through to a different department each time offering me new deals and discounts that they then do not add to my account meaning I am till paying full price anyway. I strongly recommend against choosing talktalk and an internet provider, as you will get nothing but bad service, unneeded hassle and incoherent staff who are unable to even understand a question never mind help out.

    Appalling customer service..
After waiting for 2 hours for a call back, they tried to blame my laptop rather than their router, though I could connect using a different network, or different router on same phone line.
Was told he couldn't help, and to reset the router and call back if it didn't work.
I said that wasn't good enough and he had to call me back, and after another hours wait he called back just to hang up on me after I said hello
Now no response from talk talk at all.

I would not recommend talk talk to anyone
