I received a renewal invite to renew at same cost of £45 per month with an 18 month contract, however when reviewing the contract it appears they had drastically cut my services to get the £45 per month, very sneaky! I went onto an online chat who confirmed my renewal would in fact be £166.25 per month and after a very long conversation I was advised I was currently paying £92.32 (not true), it was then reduced to £76.75 and after more conversations via online chat and telephone calls reduced to approx £56. I have decided to cancel with Virgin Media due to these stupid conversations every time the contract is up for renewal.
At the end I gave them their 30 day notice however I was then advised I would have to pay a termination fee but it would get refunded approx. 45 days later, there is no way I will be paying a termination fee and waiting for a refund, direct debit has been cancelled. I have no idea why my monthly fee was being increased by almost 370% (from £45 to £166.25 per month) especially during this dreadful era where people are struggling.
I think we need to highlight the measures they are going to get more money out of loyal customers (I have been a customer for almost 30 years). New customers get treated better with much better deals. Shame on Virgin!!
I will be very glad not to have these unnecessary conversations every year and be treated the way ALL customers should with another provider. My advice would be to stay clear of Virgin Media as they are clearly out to rip existing customer off!!
I will be writing this review on as many review sites as I can to alert as many people as I can!

Avoid at all costs. Moved in my new house 2 months now and still no internet upstairs - I live in a bog standard semi. I have had to wait for countless engineers to sort out this problem after a number of phone calls. The customer service is beyond poor. They get you tied in a contract then you are passed around from department to department. Disgusting and unacceptable.

For a few months everything was fine until one month I was charged way more than expected. When I called to find out a reason for this they lied to me twice. When i proved them wrong the manager was extremely rude to me so I left virgin media. NOT RECOMMENDED!

Terrible customer service! No accountability, nobody to complain to, complete disrespect for their customers.

My partner and I ordered the €45 per month package and after a very annoying maze of automated answering machines and badly trained call centre employees, eventually got an appointment made to install on Sat 15th Nov.

I cancelled a family commitment to be at home for the appointment, but they never turned up.

After another long call,we were told that they "no longer do installation on Saturdays". We asked why we were given a Saturday appointment, and they were unable to answer.

The installation was rescheduled for the following Tuesday morning. My partner took a half day off work on the Tuesday....

You guessed it... NO SHOW AGAIN!

Virgin TV - I'd like to give Virgin TV as many minus stars as possible. I’ve had poor TV reception since mid-last year – pixilation, jittery images altering backwards and forwards. Unable to watch on catch up or recorded shows. I contacted Virgin and got free upgrade to V6 package – BUT WITHOUT A V6 BOX TO WATCH IT ON!!! Tried to contact them since January. Phone them: ‘phoneline ‘Currently busy, Please try again later’. Email them: We tried to contact you but you were not available’. I’M IN MY HOUSE ALL DAY GIVEN THAT I NOW WORK FROM HOME AND MY ‘PHONE NEVER RANG. Email also included the phrase ‘Customer education’. PLEASE DO NOT INSULT ME WITH SUCH AN INSULT’.

My review? Virgin means poor quality, poor service and insulting customer relations.

    Regards, Steve Sole.

Internet connection (fiber) is really bad, it goes on and off and unfortunately in our case it is during weekend. The lights on the hub just blink for no reason and the internet will be off for hours. Then we checked and their website says everything is fine. We booked an engineer which is 5 days later ( the earliest). And the next day it will resolve by itself and the engineer doesnt have to come again. This thing happens almost every week. Ffs. Things are so annoying. Useless company. Avoid at all cost.

STAY AWAY!! Wow, I wish I had seen these reviews before I signed up to Virgin Media. It's true that they offer you a great deal to start with then they almost double it once your contract ends without informing you.
I just spoke to the rudest representative ever. All I wanted to do was to disconnect my line and she literally refused to take "I'm no longer interested in your service" for an answer. I tried to be reasonable with her, but when I realised that she was either set up to intentionally frustrate me, or she was a hopelessly rude person, I just hung up and called back to speak with another rep. And she even blatantly said to me she doesn't care if I leave a negative review.

Worst company I have ever dealt with. Extremely unhelpful advisors who keep telling me a different thing? Nothing seems to add up. They have not honored the rewards for joining them and have added extra costs which was never agreed. Woeful, inept company and shall never use again. Unfortunately in contract with them for a few more months. Wish I had read the reviews first as there are a lot of people who are experiencing the same problem. Disgraceful! Please avoid

    Terrible Customer Care!!
Called on July 16th and agreed a new package instead of leaving.
Received a mobile sim as part of and cancelled my contract elsewhere and ported number over. Didnt receive my new hub so called again to double check - yeah all fine should arrive soon.
Still no hub so called again - Sorry Mr Gavin we cant give you the deal we agreed!
Not only that but they put my normal bill up from £53.99 up to £89.39 with a new activation fee and package change admin fee!
Asked for a call from complaints multiple times - apparently they sent me a letter 17 days ago that never arrive and nobody has even bothered to call me.
I've called them at least 8 times to chase the situation and nobody seems to care.
I was promised a call yesterday within 2 hours - its now been almost 24hrs and no phone call.
Best part is... i know someone on the exact package they say they cant give me. I've been a loyal customer and referrer but this has ruined the brand for me.
What a nightmare, i think i would get better customer service from Sky, NowTV, BT etc... Virgin you should be ashamed. DIRECT DEBIT CANCELLED!
If you cant even bother calling your customers who are unhappy, lets see how quickly you call for your payment!

Have top package but don't know the name! I must have been in the lucky 10% as my broadband was ok 75% of the time but the day broadband companies were told 10% success in hitting their declared speeds was not adequate I've been unable to stream anything for more than 60 seconds! Atrocious quality, not worth the money, was going to buy a package for my girlfriends house for christmas but now going to check my contract end date and hand in notice. Have to stream now on 3G and I'd go as far as saying 100 times better speeds. Don't buy if your in Cardiff City centre you'll regret it!

This is probably the worst company we've ever had. Fast fibre optic 200mbs speed? My arse. They will charge you extra on everythig and add extra bills for nothing. Did I mention you don't even get wifi? As I am writing this I am using 4G since virgin haven't sorted our wifi out for TWO MONTHS. You guys suck I wish I had gone with BT. Now I am stuck here with a massive bills and now wifi whatsoever.

The worst service I've ever experienced.
VIrgin couldn't even take down the correct email which ended up costing me a small fortune as I never received important filing information.
To top it off -"they don't have a facility which lets them know emails aren't being deliver" - IT'S MEANT TO BE A MEDIA/COMMUNICATIONS COMPANY what an absolute joke.
Trying to get through by phone - as the email/sign in didn't work was a particularly unsavoury experience too.
The super fast cable broadband was no better than BT!

I never should have left BT and I will not do so again.

Simple questions asked about their current deals, so I know whether it’s worth waiting for their engineer to come out and confirm whether we are able to have fibre broadband in our area. (We had just moved to a new property) My questions were perfectly valid, as they have black Friday deals on at the moment, with cash back options, and so do many other providers. I am shopping around as it is my right as a consumer, and of course I will try to find the best value for money. Rosey via the webchat was incredibly condescending, unprofessional and rude. One of responses was “you need to be patient with us before you take advantage of our deals. Alright?” And then she left the chat without saying anything else. I was not impatient, and I wasn’t at all rude, I was just making an enquiry. But I’ll take my business elsewhere then, shall I. :)
So glad I experienced the appalling customer service before I joined! Thanks Rosey, if your colleagues are half as bad at their jobs as you are, you have actually saved me a lot of headache.

recently purchased Virgin Media 550, of course on the rosey promise of Wifi conection in every room etc...

Having moved in to a new house the port was already installed, so placed it in all good. Less one room upstairs at the far end of the house that struggles for signal and happens to be where 2 kids are.

so I contact Virgin to ask for booster equip or to move the connection - £8 a month or £100+ to move it. What? When I questioned about there stated guarantee that was both verbal and in writing it seems it not true just a lie??? They wouldnt budge on it.

Only room for compromise was if I was disabled or wanted another random contract with a O2 simcard. So just for clarity your money isnt the same if your not disabled and you need to pay more for the pods each month - or get rail roaded into an O2 contract for more money a month........

Needless to say I went on ebay and jist brought one for £12, Virgin are an empty tracksuit promise world but dont deliver, and dont get me started on bouncing around about 6 call centre staff who may well be based on Mars judging by the conection and langiage barrier. And when questioned on the integrity of the intial Virgin offer just hung up!

All in all very unsatisfied hate been lied to and then discriminated against for not been disabled or wanting an O2 contract, The poor excuse of it the walls my personnel favourite I dont live in a green house so there will be walls if you cant provide what you state to entice customers then dont say it.

Appalling service. We have been with Virgin for several years and they have got progressively worse. They are now nothing short of con artists. You sign up to a speed of service for a set monthly figure; they increase the monthly figure and, in our experience, you never get the speed you pay for.

We are supposed to get 100Mb/s. We do not get this anywhere in on our property, despite having to purchase WiFi extenders (the Virgin router would not provide coverage outside of a single room). I am currently getting 0.5Mb/a right beside the router. You contact customer service and they waffle on, spoon feeding you a load of rubbish.

The worst provider going by a significant margin. Avoid; go with a more expensive provider, any other provider, not these guys. Absolute rubbish.

Virgin Media's service experience has been deeply unsatisfactory. Despite their promises, the quality of service provided is subpar, making it a challenge for customers to receive the value they expect. Furthermore, their cancellation process is frustratingly opaque. When attempting to cancel the service three months ago, assurances were given that the cancellation would be processed. However, this conversation was misleadingly marked as 'dropped,' leading to continued billing for a service that was neither used nor desired. This miscommunication has resulted in an unexpected and unwarranted demand for an additional month's notice, adding to the overall dissatisfaction with Virgin Media's service.

The company's practices raise serious concerns about their commitment to customer satisfaction and transparency. Not only does the difficulty in cancelling services create a barrier for customers wishing to discontinue, but the misclassification of a cancellation request as a 'dropped' call feels deceptive. This experience reflects a broader issue with the company's approach to customer relations, where the emphasis seems to be more on retaining revenue than genuinely addressing customer needs. The requirement of an additional month's notice, despite no usage of their services in the past three months, further illustrates a disregard for fair and reasonable customer service practices.

LIARS! Went (brifly) onto the TV package - they lied about Amazon Prime being on it. Then shut down the TV part and they tried to charge me #20 to remove this plus the cost of the box. Raised a complaint and tried to cut down speed to 50mb but they have failed to call back for the past 6 weeks, they even closed off one complaint without speaking to me! Customer service is awful, i am trying to get a transcript of conversations at present to take them to the ombudsman and OFT as they lied at least 4 times over the phone. My favourite was 'we don't offer 50mb anymore', something i could purchse from new for cheaper today from Virgin if i so wished. Avoid!!!!!

Well where do we start. Our bill we agreed to was £55 for the 12 months we were in contract. Then after that 12 months they increased the price by more than £30, charging for phone calls which we hadn’t used, we don’t even have a phone. Also once your contract has ended there seems to be no customer loyalty service, as unless what your wanting is more money then there isn’t anything offered to you. They seem to offer you a great price to join then they just bang your price up. Also customer services is absolutely shocking, you can never get through on the phone, also the online chat customer service is a waste of time and energy they have no access to anything at all so what’s the point. DO NOT SIGNUP WITH VIRGIN , ITS A TRAP AND YOU WONT GET OUT EASY, VERY VERY COSTLY AND BAD.

Awful company. They owe me around 200-300 pounds for screwing me over twice. They cancelled my broadband installation date twice. On their website they claim to allow returns but when you call up you get a team based out in India and the phillipines who DO NOT CARE. They literally hang up on you when you try to make a complaint.

They might provide decent wifi but they are an awful company and the risk of them messing up your installation date is very high.

    Hi! HORROR with VIRGIN
Contacting customer assistance via chat is not possible. The employees that transfer your call from one country to another do not speak English. I've been on the phone for two weeks now trying to communicate with someone who doesn't speak English. They don't want you to cancel, and when you offer them a reason, they transfer you to sales, where it is impossible to cancel, so it will take me another week of calls to do so. In order to continue stealing your money after the contract expires, it is their tactic to make you give up on cancelling the agreement.
Service very slow no like advertising by Virgin hence change for reliable provider.

Virgin Broadband is terrible! I switched from Sky to Virgin broadband on the basis that they contractually guaranteed faster speeds. After waiting weeks, they drilled a hole in my wall, stapled down cables and installed their router. The download speeds in every room other than the room where they installed the router dipped to around 6mbps download speed. I complained to Virgin and they said they could fix the issue if I paid £8 extra a month for Wi-Fi boosters in each room.
My experience with Virgin has been terrible. I’m paying more for worse download speeds. I honestly wish I had never switched from Sky.
I do not work for and I am not in anyway affiliated with Sky or Virgin.

Customer service lies, they do not have contractors who will set up the line on time. The contract was signed in July, but no one has installed the cable yet. They wanted to charge me twice the monthly fee for a service they do not provide. The complete lack of control in the company and the incompetence of the management prove the problems they have. I think you are not fit to peel potatoes and you want to sell the Internet. They lied to my children who were waiting for the Internet Update 5.11.2023 Internet still not connected, they sent me bill 87£ with extra charge for unpaid bills. Claim with citizen advice office already done.

    ABSOLUTELY ABYSMAL

Virgin had our money for over 4 years for 200MB internet charged at £56 a month.

The low speeds, the drop outs, the hold music, the engineer visits - time and time again.

LIED to us on every possible occasion!!!. Told us theyd found the fault and "fixed it"... changed the router and "fixed it"...etc etc. Ive just found out that our line isnt capable of 200MB.. (max 60MB)
Forcing the connection I assume is whats been causing the drop out.

But the worst is yet to come - I rang to cancel last Thu and they said theyd ring me back. They didnt. SO I rang again the next day and told them the same. They told me my last day of service will be 11th of next month.

Today - A NEW CONTRACT FOR 18 MONTHS arrived in my email inbox. Completely unsolicited.

BEWARE!!!!! - It took me 2hr and 40 mins at the premium rate number to speak to someone to cancel it.

I will never trust them with another penny of my money and am going to seek to have some of mine reimbursed.

Over past 10 years I've had so many problems with virgin media. The service they provide is slow, cuts out often, and sometimes is down completely due to 'faults' that they provide no refund. There is no option to file a complaint on the phone. Avoid at all cost. Worst internet provider ever.

Really getting fed up with VM broadband. 'Known faults' and 'a engineer is on his way' is becoming all to frequent. Up to 100mb d/l speed but out of the three months since upgrading its never passed 50mb. Poor service.

Avoid Virgin Media like the plague. I get on average 1-2mbps with frequent drop-outs. Several modem reboots will restore to this poor speed. Customer service is dreadful and their site deliberately hides actually being able to make contact. 9-5 help is not acceptable in this day and age. I'm off to BT

Avoid. Two weeks into my contract I started to get a lot of drop out and no internet service. I called, only to get an Indian call center who were useless.
Call 1 at 7.30pm - I was told to reboot the box. I said I had done this already prior to calling and it only provided a temporary solution. I was told to do it again and that the problem would be resolved. Sìgnal dropped 30 mins later.
Call 2 at 8pm - after being put on hold for a few minutes i was told the service would be back on shortly but they would not give me a time. I told them how important internet was because I work from home and they told me it would be fixed shortly. I was promised a manager would call me back but I received no call back. Service came back on 2 hrs later at 10 pm.
The next day I lost internet at exactly the same time in the evening.
Call 3 at 8pm - I called up and asked what was going on I was told there was an area fault and that there was nothing they could do until it was fixed. A new story. I said this was unacceptable and demanded to speak to a manager as an uninterrupted service was key for my work. Again I was promised a call but nothing.
The next day I had no internet at all and could not work. My wife had to go to a relatives house to get WiFi to work.
Call 4 at 8.30 - told the guy on first line support to forget about even trying to start a conversation with me and to put me straight through to a manager. After some resistance he put me through to the most useless of people that I had spoken to in Virgin. He told me that there was an area fault and that it would not be fixed for 8 days and there was nothing he could do, I was not offered a solution. Even though I did not care about compensation (as it was uninterrupted service I needed) I was not offered anything. The worst was that he told me that he could offer me nothing but tell me I had to wait 8 days for the service to resume. I politely told him this was unacceptable and that I would be cancelling my service.
Call 5 at 9am - I called cancellations as spoke to a uk department and when asked for the reason I told them it was due to Virgin not committing to the service defined in the contract. Now I don’t know who was ********** me because cancellations told me the area fault was with tv (which I did not subscribe to) and not broadband. He told me he would get an engineer out tomorrow and resolve the issue. I subsequently called BT to subscribe to infity my previous provider as I never had any problems with I just though I would try Virgin as it was cheaper for a quicker service. So I reserve judgement on the fact that you pay peanuts and you get monkeys. I may be surprised by the engineer tomorrow and may cancel my order to join BT again but I very much doubt it.

The worst experience of all time!
On a slightly humorous scale of -1 to -10, I experienced a number of issues, scored as follows:

-1. They took down the wrong email address ( as they couldn't spell)

-2. They have no system in place to inform them they have the wrong email address, bearing in mind they're meant to be a digital media company !!!!!!

-3. They don't have a record of our initial conversation to confirm what was and was not agreed!!!

-4. The chap who installed the broadband couldn't write, so I didn't have a copy of my account number needed for access if you they don't have your correct email address on record!!!!

    - 5 The installation engineer didn't write the area code (also needed for access without correct said email).

-6 Broadband speed was no faster than BT.

-7 They didn't respond to my emails in writing , they wanted to call me about it, this is difficult as I can only answer the phone at specific times.

-9 (THIS ONE COUNTS DOUBLE) To settle my final bill they wanted to take a final payment then issue a refund by ..........A CHEQUE!!!!!!!!! (digital company- what a joke).

The only good news is I cancelled my direct debit and insisted upon sending them a cheque for the outstanding balance, at the happy expense of a stamp. HEEE HEEE HEEE ..... every cloud a silver lining!!!!!!

My contract is expiring to-day I rang to see if there is a deal or can I stick to what I have at the same cost, but I was put on hold for about 58min just to get an reply NO DEAL only for NEW CUSTOMERS … this is against the LAW NEW or OLD customers can qualify for the same DEAL as advertised on TV or the NET.

I was talking to some junior who did not understand as to what I want so I asked for a manager who kept me on HOLD for that long to give me a reply NO DEAL … what a crap service

Virgin Media needs to listen to this phone conversation and replace these kind of managers who don't have respect for their customers.

is VM become so big that they don't need customers .. read the reviews of other customers and get working to employ better staff.

I wish there was an option to give a -* instead of 1*

I've had terrible service from Virgin Media so far. I switched to Virgin in February this year and was given an installation date of 14 March. The evening before there installation was due to take place, I received an email from you informing me that the installation had to be postponed due to cable issue external to our property. At that point, our subscription with our previous service provider had expired and we were given a later install date of 10 April by Virgin. We have now been sitting for almost a month with no internet connection in our flat, but expecting the installation to finally occur on Monday. However, the installation was yet again postponed (with an indeterminate new date) this evening. This occurring again just one business day before the installation is due to take place. Upon phoning your customer service desk this evening, I was given no reason for the current postponement and offered no temporary internet solution. Really bad service.

Expensive and rubbish. Over the years l have noticed their service getting worse and more so as the years go on. They give me a deal then instantly find a reason why it should go up! The broadband cuts out continually. The customer service is a total joke a technician who couldn't tell me what was up?! Are you kidding! And to add more insult to you has a customer Expensive!!!
