Having been a three customer for several years I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly.

The good: when it works it works. That said, it works where there is no major demand in a given area such as some towns / suburban areas. Have been using one of these contacts in the TN38 Hastings area (4G) and it works well for the type of use, with speeds of around 6-17 mbps down. Similarly in the TQ2 Torquay area the service works well with similar speeds to the above.

The bad: London... Most of the areas I've tried it, it has failed or offered poor and unusable performance. SE14: 0.2mbps down 10% of the time, no throughput 90% of the time. NW1 : 0.6mbps down. WC1N: 0.9mbps down.

These speeds simply don't constitute an acceptable level of service in my opinion.

The ugly: customer Service... They simply do not know what they are talking about. The speak the language of upgrades and maintenance as the issue and reasons for the slow or unusable service, coming up with a variety of poorly scripted excuses, looking past the fact that it's been going on for years. Then in the next breath they are trying to get you to upgrade to 5G for another two years to solve the problem... Really? I'm sorry but I am not convinced.
I've switched to Vodafone and EE at a far higher cost in the problem areas and the service has been rock solid so far, particularly on Vodafone 4G.

Best speeds I ever got were 7MBPS, usually closer to 1MBPS. Consistently cuts out once per hour, for about 5 minutes.

Unbelievably ridiculous customer service, they made me go four times to the store and not get what I asked for after ignoring 6 emails of mine. They asked for £700 to terminate my contract and they couldn't do anything when I lost my sim card. DON'T GO WITH THREE

Travelling from usa for 3 weeks, decided to use a UK mobile while here.
Carp hone Warehouse suggested my3 mobile, so I paid £25 for a SIM for a month, and bought an LG Nexus to use, which was a big mistake in itself.
My3 network dropped Jan 2 overnight, customer support has been unreachable, the website slow and no help at all
Will be taking the phone and the SIM back to the shop where I purchased it, probably won't get my money back, but will spend many hours panning my3 mobile on as many websites as I can.
    Waste of time and money

I've had three broadband for over 4 years now as BT or sky isn't an option. As for fibre. That's a pipe dream where I live. At first it was OK, but over the last few months (start of 2022) three's broadband is getting worse ! I have a good signal for 4g. But forget it.

Almost every call drops or at least glitches and I have to play hunt the signal before using my phone almost everytime, perching precariously on the edge of my bath tub and pointing my phone out the window is about the only way it will work, so I have to leave the phone there to act as a mobile hotspot and use my tablet for internet access, any time a taxi or a plane goes by it will lose signal and I have to go through the rigmarole of signal hunting and resetting through the airplane mode and turning the hotspot on again. If it would not be rewarding them financially for failing to deliver a reasonable service, I would buy my contract out and I Will have nothing from three mobile ever again, I'm even going to try to ban them from sending me adverts!

I went with 3 mobile (using a MiFi router) as I wasn't sure how long I would be at this address and the only other option seemed to be Satellite. Speeds have been incredibly poor - no more than 9mbps, but usually under 5 - since I have been here and often drops out. Customer service response is always the same as "status checker" on the internet - "we are working on masts in your area", which seems to be permanent, and in 18 months there has been no improvement. If it wasn't for the cancellation fee I would have changed months ago. The worst internet I have ever had - and I have lived in remote areas in Brazil with better service!

Over the last week, these are the results of trying to download updates/win10 preview. TomTom 32Mb update - estimated time 29hours, New PC Widows 8.1 updates - failed twice to complete. Win10 3.6GB download - estimated time 5 days!
Service absolutely unfit for purpose with pages unavailable, timeouts and some download speeds showing 0kb/s , maximum I've had is 93Kb/s. 3 shop told me there were problems with masts in Wakefield area. 3 technician told me nothing wrong with masts in Wakefield area. After 30 minutes on the phone and various undisclosed diagnostic tests, they sort of admitted something wasn't quite right. However it would take 7 days to fix it.As 3 Mobile is my only link to the internet and the need to be able to use it anywhere in the UK, this reply was unacceptable. So, I've now got several PCs ( 2 new) requiring Updates a new TomTom that I can't register or download updates for and I'm continually having to retry accessing the Terminal Cancer support groups I need for my condition. In addition, we cannot access my wife's internet banking service in Crete. All this seems to have no effect on 3 Mobile getting their finger out to help me. They used to be good, but they really are rubbish now!

Had 2 years good service, last month it stopped,a month latter after being tied into another 24 month contract with the promise the better router would work, still no internet, no exaggeration 30 phone calls latter hours on the phone, more lies than would be believed from the technicians and network team ie, were working on it,the account is set up wrong, the sim card is faulty, give us a week while we work on the mast, we will phone you back, etc just a few examples, they are trained to lie so to close the case down, I have never met such a bunch of liars, and hope never to come across this company again, your ok if things work, but if you have to contact them beware,it seems they take pleasure in your stress and make life very difficult, got through to customer relations today to be told we cant provide you with a service because we've upgraded to 4/5g and that's not in your area, and wont be mainting the old equipment where you were getting your signal from.

I went to the 3 store to ask about their mobile internet. While I was there I was told about the 4g homefi, 300mbs and only £22 a month wow! I signed up and cancelled my sky contract. The best speed was just over 15 meg at 5 AM. Before 10 am I could get 4 to 5.5 meg after that 1 meg was fast weekends we often couldn't even get on Facebook. My first complaint I was told it was because of the unlimited service and they are working hard to solve the problems. My second contact when I asked to cancel my contract was agreed without any argument. If you are considering 3 4g homefi I would suggest you ask them to put the download speed for your postcode in writing.

I got mobile broadband to save money in comparison to fixed line. Speeds were OK at first, but for the past year I've been getting mostly less than 2Mb and often less than 1Mb, with pages taking ages to load, and that's in the middle of a large city. I often have to use my phone to get online. Tried once or twice to contact Three, but the script is always the same, have you tried this, that...Yes I have, I'm an intelligent person and know how to troubleshoot connection speeds. I've now given up and got fibre broadband, which is not much more than Three are charging me. I'm still in contract but I don't care, I just want out. Think carefully before you go for mobile broadband for your main home connection, other much faster connections are now not much more expensive.

you go cheap and you pay the price. Three are cheap for a reason but there's always someone who will bite. I was one of them. Cheap price for internet but connectivity intermittent and unreliable. And when cancelling, expect to be on the phone for some time as they try and try to get you to stay with them, giving excuse after excuse and then saying that there's an early termination fee that they're unable to waive. My recommendation, go with the providers that are most recognisable. They charge more but again, you get what you pay for.

I just wanted to cancel my contract and get a PAC. It took 3 phone calls, one visit to the store, many failed 'reset your password' links. A maddening experience. Our last phone call lasted 50 min ! Totally unacceptable. Plus, I never had any coverage, reason why I wanted to switch in the first place.

Was once okay, but for the last few months speeds are terrible. Cant play on xbox until after 10pm, or before 9am, during daytime it wont even sign in. During the day, with dial up speeds on laptop just looking at ebay etc. They have oversold capacity, and are now throttling . Just downloaded a 40gb game, it manages about 6gb a night so it only took around 8 days. I will not be renewing contract.

HELLOI thought thats what people pay Broadband for to use not look at. You spend hrs on hold on the phone and get no where with them.

This is without a doubt the WORST thing I have ever bought. It simply hardly ever connects - even in areas of reputedly good coverage i.e. major cities and town centres. When it does, the wretched thing invariably disconnects within thirty seconds. It often has a good signal BUT limited service i.e. no internet. On the rare occasions it does actually connect and stay connected for more then thirty seconds, it is slower than dial up used to be! Topping up on line can taker thirty minutes due to the time lag between each of the four processes to do this. Do not buy this product. It is appalling.

My God where do I start?
How and why I ever got involved with this tin pot company I will never know. After having two contract phones with these jokers then trying to leave because the network coverage was so crap everywhere we went in the UK, the experience was so stressful and upsetting. They just wont let you leave! Endless arguments with the people they employ from the indian sub continent, many of whom you cannot understand, raises your blood pressure to dangerous levels!
I also foolishly took a broadband contract out too, only to find that the only thing they are very efficient in doing is taking your money each month, but they fail to appreciate that it SHOULD be for a reliable service level. Again wherever we went in the UK, there was no service. On the odd occasion we did receive a signal the download speed was crap!!
Sending emails, letters etc just don't work either. They just deny ever receiving anything even though its via their website! They just insist on you phoning them so you can spend hours on the phone arguing with countless individuals and getting nowhere. I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO KEEP AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!

So Three UK think it's alright to offer you a refund one day and then say no sorry our guy was wrong the next day! Their customer care service is shocking, avoid like the plague... They also say they'll cancel your contract months ahead of time but they don't... You'll still need to go through a painstaking conversation with them a month before it should have cancelled :-/ not impressed

Recently i gave Birth and when it was time for me to rush to the hospital I tried to make a call to reach my husband but the signal was so pooooor that i couldnt get hold of him. Thanks god i could call via whatsapp using the Wi-Fi from another provider ... very disappointed with that company I have to wait for my contract to end so I can stop this ****

Terrible. This should be a 5g speed/service? It takes more than 1 min to upload a 50-sec video on the web. When we do some research online we spend more time waiting for the page to be found and opened that the time that we spend working. Absolutely a negative experience. We will return it for sure.

Avoid at all costs. They messed us around for 6 months claiming they were fixing the poor connection, only to later finally say that they can’t offer 5G in SW London whilst their website and (Indian based) employees stated otherwise.
    Shocking experience. Avoid avoid avoid.

    terrible service.
the broadband was down within the first week of service. The device looked as if it had been used before, the sim card was already installed. I couldn't register on the website as the password they gave me didn't work and I never received the mail to reset the password. So I had to call, I couldn't go through the first day. The second day, I waited 1:30h and gave up. They have literally 5 songs on repeat, hurting your ears I'm sure on purpose, an actual torture.3 ppl asked for my details and put me on hold again. I was so fed up I decided to cancel my contract, and waited for another 30mn to talk to someone. It's the most ridiculous service you can imagine. It might be cheap, but it definitely isn't worth your time and energy.

Company you can recommend to your worst enemy - three mobile customer service is just awful. I was calling 6x about particular problem before they fixed it.
Other thing Three mobile data signal is very poor. Customer service says you need to contact department about, they will check why signal is bad and will try to sort it out. When connected that department has excuse - your phone is faulty (in our case 7 phones have the same problem with signal). We have situation when 9 people are sitting in one room (iphone 4s, iphone 6, samsung s4, s5, s5, s6, note2 on three mobile; iphone 4 and samsung s5 on other networks). Three mobile's signal is coming and going on all phones - one minute it is here, then dissappears, then again appears, it is jumping between H, H+ and 4G, and it shows full bars, but you can't connect. On all phones the same. Absolutely helpless. Other networks permanently have signal. We are located in London. Here is NO CHANCES to get any help from three mobile customer service. But three mobile will charge you for nonexistent signal properly, 'because you signed contract with us'. For them it is one side contract, they are not obligate to provide service you were expecting when chose to get their simcard. And after that they are shameless enough to try sell you a new contract. Just try to avoid this company!

Complained at the 3 shop and they said nothing to do with us for the poor reception.
Although the router says it is working with all the 5 lights on saying good signal strength. My computer says 1 bar and takes ages to load.

This 'three 4G Huawei broadband' is the worst broadband I have ever used. It's completely unreliable and useless. There is always this hesitation by the network to open any page on my computer that I end up canceling and clicking it until it goes. This happens to be my worst broadband contract ever. And to imagine that I will be stuck with this rubbish for two years is completely sickening.

Unbelievably terrible experience, do not use 3 for their home broadband.
Early into our contract the wifi was awful - fluctuating all over the place and unusable half the time. We called support and were told that we had to call while the wifi was actively down and this had to be a problem three days in a row for them to do anything about it. As it's wireless wifi, they specifically don't guarantee any minimum speeds, so you actually have to be fully offline to my understanding.

Now that our contract is up, we called to cancel it, only to find out that our wifi hub is outdated and has been known to be faulty for a long time now (Huawei B311). Never mind the half hour of flat out refusal to cancel the contract while trying to negotiate for us to stay on. It's beyond me that they weren't recalled and we weren't notified at all.

I used their webchat service to attempt to register a complaint about the fact that they were continuing to knowingly provide a faulty service and that we'd generally had terrible service for the duration of the contract, for service for future customers.

I was told it was our fault, then threatened that they would waive the contractual 30 day notice period, leaving us without wifi completely until the new provider sets up in a couple of weeks.

Seriously, just don't even bother. I'm completely floored by the whole experience.

Absolutely useless. Have been with the 3 pay as you go for ages with hardly any problems so I decided to try their 4G broadband. Great to begin with but now the signal is useless even with the 3 mast at the end of my street!! If you need mobile broadband don't use 3. You will just end up wasting your money.

Oh, how I wish I had done more research and found this review page before I committed myself t a 24mth contract for Home 4G Broadband with Three. As with the high percentage of other reviews my experience of Three is abysmal. The broad band speed they advertised of 25 Mbps came in between 3-5 Mbps when I checked by my lap top. It’s like going back ten years with internet speed. The customer service as already mentioned by other reviews is terrible, you get sent to a call centre in the far east and get asked the same ridiculous question, which is very frustrating and you just end up going in circles. I eventually got them to admit that there was a problem and they admitted that there was too much demand in the area and that their system can’t cope. They have to their credit given me two months free of charge to compensate, and they admitted that the 5G upgrades they are doing to their system are causing the problems. It was clear to me that they know that there are problems on their system but just selling it to people anyhow. The other thing is that they don’t send you any record of your complaint and nothing is put on paper. I’ve been told that everything should be ok by the 26th march. I now have no internet in my flat, except one that it is so slow its infuriating and I can’t get another internet contract going because I’m locked into this one, it’s an atrocious service. If there are no improvement by then the only action I can take is to cancel by standing order, which in doing so I might face legal action. So, from my experience if anybody is contemplating to with Three, STAY WELL CLEAR OF THEM!!!

Hoodwinked by AYGE data, I took out a month-by-month contract one Thursday at the Three Store in Stratford, London. It apparently had a 14-day no coverage no quibble guarantee.

After the SIM activated I found out that the data rates where I work in London were terrible, and I had no signal whatsoever at home.

So on the Saturday I took it to my local store in Bromley. Here I requested to be disconnected and my PAC sent as I had no covereage.

Surprise surprise: I would have to pay 2 months, the current month plus the month for which my "30 days notice" period covered. I pointed out I hhad been told that by returning the SIM within a few days I could have the contract nulled. They phoned CS - I wasn't party to all the conversation but essentially the outcome was that I had to go back to Stratford.

So, on the Monday, I did. What happened here defies belief for a modern "customer focused" company. The store manager (no less) looked at me like a piece of sh*t and rang CS. He then handed me his phone and told me to deal with it!

30 minutes later I was still waiting for someone from CS to answer. And when they did: I got the same story about 2 months payments etc etc. I gave the phone back to the store manager and asked him to come to an agreement with CS whereby my NO QUIBBLE GUARANTEE could be granted. The storemanager eventually hung up on the CS guy. Whilst I was standing there I got an email from CS saying (roughly) this: "nothing has changed, you will continue to be charged monthly".

The Store Manager then typed out a form on his PC which, I assumed, was going back to CS with my details. It did, in fact, have a reference to a 14-day NO QUIBBLE GUARANTEE. How infuriating. He had this power all along. What was the point of making me wait on the phone for over half an hour? Did he think I was just going to walk away?

So, I was told that the PAC would be issued in 24-48 hours.

When I told my wife she reckoned I would be beter off checking the following day to see what was being done. Oh man. It got worse.

I called "Customer Service". They had no record of my disconection & PAC request. The woman kept telling me I had to go into the store. I kept asking her to call the store. But she would not. After 20 minutes of this cr*p I asked to speak to her manager. I was transferred, and the guy did phone the store, and the outcome of this was particularly farcical.

My request had been sent to a "Backroom Team". And he could not speak to that backroom team. I asked for a case number. He did not have a case number. I asked if he could ring the backroom team and ascertain whether my request was known, and what my case number would be. He refused "they do not have a phone number". I asked him to email the backroom team. He refused "they do not have an email address".

Really??? A team at Three (which is a telecom company right?) have no email and no phone.

This "manager" informs me that I must go back to Stratford. I ask again for him to contact his background team, and he says he does not have the authority. So.. he has the authority to ask ME to go halfway across London, but not enough authority to call or email a team in his own company. Is this for real?

So 4 days after my first attempt to get a PAC, and 2 since my last there is no end to this in sight. I had some inkling that PACs were supposed to be issued with a maximum delay of 2 hours.

The Customer Service of 3 is as bad as I have ever had, only Talk Talk is comparable. I reckon nobody wants to take control of this as their precious Cost Codes get hit - would explain why nobody at Bromley would touch it, why CS refuse to acknowledge a 14-day return policy, and why Stratford are so reluctant to take direct action. Compare this to a proper custome focussed company - think (say) First Direct, or Amazon, or Tesco. Do you think anything like this would be happening at any of those?

The broadband is non existent in Canary Wharf, calls and internet are non-existent in West Wickham, and where I did get connection it never got close to 4G speeds (not even to their much vaunted double speed 3G).

I absolutely reccommend everyone to steer clear unless you know you will not have coverage problems.
