moved from plusnet (not realising JL are plusnet!) because I fancied the free google home hub for the same fee I was already paying. various issues with the transfer, mainly down to the billing/account management rather than the connection itself. they managed to keep my number and switch the bb over with no real issues. they had given me the option for fibre extra, it turns out my line can't do that so I should never have been given the option. no problem, simply switch down to fibre... agreed 2 new contracts for fibre (which is the speed I've always received anyway) and they still show fibre extra on the account even though fibre is provisioned. not that it's a huge issue mind, since they haven't billed me other than the first payment, so 2 months free so far. they did manage to send me the google home hub too. i have been told that the account issues are down to a new billing system they put in last christmas, whether that's true I don't know. the bb and phone themselves are fine, pretty much the same as plusnet, which you would expect. hopefully at worst they will simply end up billing me for the fibre service they have actually delivered, at best, they may not get round to it at all. i never trust automated systems that are going wrong though, so keeping fingers crossed they don't start debt collection for a bill they didn't bother to collect themselves but always had the details to do so

I have decided to complete this review as all the others were bad about this service; probably because of with a service like this why do a review if its good.

So yeah I ordered easily online, they switched my line over from BT (which I was glad about since I didn't have to call them to cancel) it was just get home switch the router and I was back online!

The online portal is good and even shows you your usage. I did have to call Customer Service and had no problems. I hadn't received an activated email but they did it for me and a simple refresh and it was all there.

I give it 5 stars for speed. My speed isn't actually good by todays standards (4mbps) but its what my line can do so I guess 5 stars for giving me the max speed that my line can do. *Fingers crossed for fiber*

The router has no AC capabilities which is a shame and is essentially a Plusnet Hub One with only the Sagemcomn branding on it.

I am on the Normal Broadband as there is no fibre by the way.

Anyways works fine and have no problems!

I am in the process of migrating to JLB. I checked yesterday whether the Direct Debit had been set up on my bank account. It has, but it is in the name of PlusNet. If I had gone to PlusNet direct then I could have got a far, far better package for LESS than I am paying JLB. I think the least J.L can do is offer a 'like for like' with maybe a couple of pounds extra. I cannot really comment on the speed or reliability as yet. However, the first attempt at streaming from iPlayer was not good as I kept getting a message advising "insufficient bandwidth".

Sent request to cancel broadband and telephone service in the begining of March (to take effect the 4th April) as a new supplier was commissioned to take over from that date.
They sent a final invoice for telephone service for the period up to the 10th of April even though the it was not used
All in all a rubbish company to do service with !

This was the worst experience I have had in several years of switching Broadband providers. I left JL after one year in November to another provider : they have continued to bill me via direct debit six weeks after the service was closed with no explanation about why they are continuing to take money. The only way to stop this has been to instruct the bank to cancel any further payments to John Lewis .

Once the account was technically closed on 21st November, any method of contact about the account disappears leaving only the option of a call centre looked after by Plusnet. I have now done this explaining the situation three times which is frustrating. Despite three phone calls of getting on for one hour, this is still not sorted. Very poor customer service John Lewis and PLusnet .
