This as a company, must be the worst in the U.K. without a doubt.First I had to contact the Ombudsman about the overcharging on my account which took months to complete, then I started getting intermittent termination on my Broadband when I swapped from one site to another they admitted a fault but would not change my Router, after terminating this service they wanted extortionate costs I had to speak to a manager who agreed to waver costs as I had never received a proper service as long as I waited a monthevery day we have had to RE-SET our password to watch our t.v.we are both pensioners and I am totally disablled.

I’ve been with Shell Broadband for 20 months. In this time I moved house and apparently they can’t move my broadband but can only sign me up on a new 18 month contract despite only having 3 months left. They did this last time I moved and I agreed. This time I’ve checked and there are several providers who are £10 a month cheaper. So I now have to pay for 3 months service I won’t use. I will never sign up to any shell products again and also advise EVERYONE TO AVOID!

was originally a Post Office customer who gave excellent service, however my contract was taken over and prices rose so I cancelled in August, they asked to return the router so I asked for a tracker label which I was told they would email to me. The label never got sent, rang again September asking for label, after speaking with 3 agents, 2 of which put the phone down! I spoke to an agent who said they would supply the label, again this never arrived. In the meantime I received a letter stating I would be charged £35 for the router. Back on to customer services I went and finally got through to a helpful agent named Amesh, and the label arrived. I posted this on 03/11/22 (this is how long it had took to get someone to actually listen). I went to withdraw money from my account on 18/11/22 to find that they had taken £35 charge from my account for not returning the router even though I had cancelled the Direct Debit as my services had ceased in August, so again onto customer services, the first operator cut me off, the second was given details of the proof of postage. I am still awaiting my refund. I would rather be without internet than go with this company, absolutely appauling customer service, no consideration for clients or their situations, it appears they are making a small fortune for charging people for non return of routers, dodgy as hell!!

I can only agree with all the other negative reviews - AVOID!!! I had been with Virgin Media for more than ten years, but unfortunately had to switch as they don't provide my new area. Shell customer service is the worst, a bunch of useless call centre employees who are not in any position to make changes/cancellations etc. but forward your request again and again. They confirmed by email that they would push back my activation date, but I then received an email a day before original activation date, that my service would go online next day. I called them (finally getting through after 20 minutes) only to hear that my request had been rejected, but they couldn't tell me why. They also could have let me know instead of me calling them to find out (even though they had confirmed by email)! I then asked to cancel my contract within the 14-day period I was allowed to do so as I wasn't even living in my place yet. Request rejected as well! What a joke!!

Wifi is fast, but drops out at least every hour. Router stays green but no internet to any devices. Customer service has been abysmal. Advised that wifi was not guaranteed and because it was still providing a service via ethernet, it was not a problem. Over 2months on, they are now sending a booster which may solve the problem, but was not required with my previous provided. Definite issues with Shell router software.

Customer service is poor to non-existent. I am at the end of a 12 month contract with the same problem I reported at the beginning of the contract, that means 12 months of paying for a service that was shoddy and not supported. If you are considering Shell Broadband, I recommend you look again.

I would not recommend this company. I have been migrated against my wishes from the now-defunct PO Broadband, and the customer ' service ' has been abysmal. There are better options out there.

Lost my phone line last Saturday, broadband had also been very unstable prior to that. Called up and wa given option of callback. They returned the call a couple of hours later but hung up as soon as I answered. Sent them an email, and have been emailing every day since with zero response.

I didnt choose to go with shell broadband ,they took over from the post office unfortunately. The internet speed is AWFUL, it is cinstantly breaking up,everyday you have issues with it, a lot of the time its literally like youve been disconnected and you have to spend AGES turning stuff off and on or literally ust go to bed and hope its better next day. Dont knwo where they get their 3.5 stars from, you only have to look at their twitter to see the SHEER nmber of people who have an issue with them.

Utter nonsense. I was tempted in by low prices, but dont be fooled, those prices will be jacked up within a month or two. In combination with a truly terrible intenet service, was promised 70mbps downloads in truth its about 4 or 5mbps, which is a tiny fraction of advertised, and a wifi signal that drops out hourly for random amounts of time, it really is an utter waste of money. was previouslt with sky at same address, never had these issues.

I get 40mb with Shell, PlusNet were far faster.

I also didn't use the correct link to get the 'deal' and by the time the first bill came, I contacted them and they just said 'well it's too late to cancel now'. Awful customer service.

Truly awful service. Broadband keeps cutting off so unable to access on demand TV like iplayer, 4OD or netflix. Shows just keep cutting out half way through then have to start all over again. Have spent an hour waiting to talk to somebody from customer service only to be cut off immediately by rubbish representative "Hannah S". Now back in another queue to try and speak to someone again. Avoid at all costs! Terrible broadband.

    Completely useless.
Broadband continually drops out for minutes at a time during the day making watching Netflix or streaming a painful experience. When it is working the speed is ok.

Have been without a working phone line since installation and the web chat and initial phone support are worse than useless.

Current waiting for an Openreach engineer to visit but no idea when as the complaints department haven’t got round to telling me if one has actually been booked or not.

The worst broadband service I’ve had in 15 years and 10 at this property. Bitterly regretting moving from my previous provider.

Once I was set up with first utility the 14 day cooling off period had finished so from the initial set up I realised I was locked into 18 months of useless broadband. I can't watch BBC iPlayer without buffering every couple of minutes. It is an appalling service and they do nothing. Download speed 1.8Mbps, upload 0.7Mbps.
I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST SIGNING UP.
When you do get through finally to customer support they are pleasant but can do nothing to fix the problem.

Absolute pants! Post Office was ok but Shell are next to useless. They cancelled our account because someone else made a mistake and we had to go for 5 days without. They apparently "sorted" it but still told us we cancelled. Now we get "fast broadband" at 8.8mbps... But hey £2 compensation eh? Woohoo!

On 28TH Dec, I switched my broadband to shell energy Full fibre 200 broadband with an average download speed of 207Mbps. When checking the speed, I only get 60Mpbs - 95Mpbs speed only. With my previous provider, I got a minimum speed of 95Mpbs. On 29th Dec, I complained to customer service, and they told me, it will take three days. Today is the 8th day and there is no change. I complained again but they took no action. I am disappointed and do not recommend Shell Energy Broadband. It is a waste of money.

I have had the Broadband contract for the last 13 months and it will finish in another 5. I have already put into my calendar that I need to look for another Internet provider.

The speed of the Internet dropped when I moved my house. I have logged in a complaint as that's what they suggested to do. Well, it sounds that they have theirs house in order however it is just to delay your decision about the change. It took me about three months, one visit of the engineer to hear that the speed of the Internet is as expected. It was such a waste of time. They have offered that I an cease my contract only for 58.5 not the full price. Well that is not a solution for me, they also said that the speed is ok even though the Open Arch engineer came and said that is is slow and the fault is on the Internet provider side.

Another problem was just at the time when I started with them. They just simply never send to me the broadband starter kit! I rang them few week after that as I was travelling and they said they will send it again. They have never refunded the days which I didn't have the Internet!

If you have a choice go to someone with good customer service and actual broadband.

    Thank you.

I’ve been with First Utility since 5/2, so one day and one month, and I have to say the speed is absolutely awful. As my son put it, it’s actually slower than dial-up of all those decades ago: The last three tests over the last 2 weeks were 0.9 and 1.36 and 1.36Mb download with NAN and 1.15 and 0.20Mb/s on upload - this using two different speed tests over the days too. This is absolutely appalling. Not only this, it has cut out three times in this time and two of those were for over five hours. The company has come up with every single excuse these companies usually use for why they have failed so much, but of course I’m not buying any of it.
The call centre manageress said that I had received emails to send their own specific speed tests to, but eventhough I filled the initial form in online correctly, they have my surname spelt incorrectly, and it took a while for her to admit that that’s why I have not received the emails, trying to say it was my fault it seemed. She did admit it in the end. It’s lucky that I have actually taken speed test results from the start of this contract, and I know that can be used legally somehow for some part of refund or something like that, because I refuse to pay for something that I do not receive.
The last point here is that the manageress tried to convince me that because FIRST UTILITY have a great reputation with their gas and electricity, that therefore they must have a great one for broadband, and again it took me ages for me to get her to admit that the people who are engineers for the gas and electricity side are not the same people who are responsible for the broadband, and eventually she said that it’s talktalk who operate their broadband, again she admitted I was telling the truth, well at least nearly, as near as I was going to get from her.

It is way beyond unacceptable, I’ve been with BT and Sky, BT speeds were not brilliant (I moved because they tried to overcharge me from the first month by £100.00) but FU is miles off that.

Despite having problems since our contract started (8mths ago), Shell Energy has not fixed our problem. There is nothing wrong with the BT line, that is always reliable, the problem is with the 'not fit for purpose' wifi router that Shell Energy provide for their customers. No wonder it's cheaper - it doesn't work. We are not totally without broadband for all our devices except for this laptop where I have plugged a wire into the router. We call Shell Energy today and used their call back service. They haven't called back. We are beside ourselves and have no choice but to source a provider and pay two providers - one Shell for a non-service, and our new provider who we know will be more reliable and we moved from them to save £3 per month by moving to Shell. Worst broadband mistake we have ever made

    Absolutely awful services!
Before agreeing for the contract I asked them if later I'll change my address if possible to move my broadband too and they said yes. While I was at the first address problems every few days, the modem wouldn't connect. When contacting them they were asking me to follow some stupid steps every single time and with the same result: no connection. I'm an engineer and networking isn't a secret for me and I can troubleshoot a network connection. Very disappointed. Then I moved to Salisbury from Swansea. Here they refused to install the broadband saying that the address doesn't look available. I went for another broadband network, but had to pay for Shell Broadband many months for no service at all. I asked them to interrupt the contract, since they couldn't hold their word to install the broadband connection to a new address. I paid everything, even paid 35£ for the modem. Then I'm seeing on my credit report that they reported that I didn't paid my bills at them. I never missed a payment on my history, but they reported me that I didn't pay my bill?
    Absolutely disgusting!
Now I'm at BT and, don't know about others, but they don't compare. Stay away from Shell Broadband!
It was a mistake in which I got because of their better prices and promised speeds. Lies! I wasn't even getting, when the line was connected, more than 30-40%. They were like it's my fault, my location.

One of the worst experiences I've had with broadband, I change my broadband nearly every year. The speeds we slow with shell, signal was rubbish and would drop out at busy times. On top when I cancelled I was charged £15 cease charge and had to pay postage to return router.

The broadband kept cutting out so we would have periods throughout the day when internet wasn’t available. This happened nearly every day over the 12 months we were with First Utility. It was also slow. They blamed other households using internet but we have never had these issues with the other 4 providers we have used. So could not receommend this company

The worst company I have ever dealt with. Had no broadband since 20 May ( now 14July) . No explanation from Shell. They have not responded to letters or on- line attempts by myself . You wait on phone until you give up. Dreadful company.

It has been 20 days still no internet nor has the order even been confirmed.
I'm stuck in the middle, they won't cancel the contract nor set me up.
