Absolutely dire service.
Promised 10mbps and above, but we struggle to get anything over 2.5
Tech support are a nightmare, all they want to do is sell you fix-all-the-speed-issues fibre
I'm currently going down the complaints process as they're in breach of contract as far as I'm concerned.
Avoid them like the plague. If there are any issues then you're stuffed and you will enter the never ending circle of technical support pain, endlessly starting their support script from the beginning each time. It is HELL.
We moved to TalkTalk from Plusnet and bitterly regret it.
AVOID TALKTALK AT ALL COSTS

Signed up over two weeks ago. Internet has been connected to the wrong house. Took three calls to their call centre in Manila - making me do the troubleshooting on my router each time - before they agree send a Talk Talk engineer out, who subsequently tells me I need a BT Engineer to come to the property.
Took three more phone calls - 30 mins to an hour each time before I get them to send an engineer who....
Doesn't show up. So I ring again to reschedule for another date. Still waiting and no internet after over two weeks since they said it'd go live.
On going BS. Wish I never signed up to them. Awful customer service. I'm paying for someone else's internet and need an openreach engineer to come round and connect me up which will take all of about ten minutes but seems impossible for them to organise.
Avoid at all costs. Going to cancel as soon as possible.

Though the broadband works well here the customer service is a nightmare. If you have any issues be prepared to waste hours. I originally rang them which was painful. I then went to using the chat feature but that seems to have got worse an worse. Spent two hours just trying to get one answer which in the end was a one liner! And once you want to leave you better book a day off work!!!!

Almost entirely useless customer service, incompetent, ignorant, one month to get phone/online sorted, 0.3mbps speed (YES NOUGHT POINT THREE! average for UK is 28.9mbps), price rise less than one month into account. You get the picture?

Worst service ever! They gave us a time slot of between 8am and 1pm for the engineer to come and fit the broadband, so I had to take the morning off work. At 12:55pm, I had a call saying they would arrive at 2:30pm and was this ok, to which I said no but I clearly don’t have a choice. They then turned up at 3:59pm (I had called within this time and they kept saying they would be here in 5 minuets)! I called Talktalk to complain and say that I had, had to take an extra half days holiday, and we would need compensating for this. I called 3 times and it asked for a home telephone number which I didn’t have as I was setting up broadband and the engineer wasen’t here. I then altered the live chat which didn’t even get a response. I then called the sales number and it said it didn’t understand what I was asking for so to text... I was then texting someone who I asked to call me at 5pm and they said ‘Alright’. Guess what? No call! So I called again and again and eventually got through to someone at 7:30pm, this woman Hope then told me that her system was down and to try again within 3 hours (which made no sense), so I asked to speak with a manger - she eventually passed me through to Miko who funnily enough had working systems! I explained the issue at hand and she went off to see what she could offer me and came back with an offer of ..... £5!!!!! To which I couldn’t contain my laughter and asked to cancel my account. The cancellation team had all gone home for the night so Miko kindly said they would call me! 24 hours later nothing. So I called again 3 time each time whilst being transferred to the cancellation team I got cut off with no phone call back so had to explain myself everytime. I then got offered £10, which I quickly assured them would not suffice and I wanted to cancel with immediate effect.

Very very disappointed.
Month after month I have been overcharged on my direct debit, month after month I have to call them to ask for a refund of the overcharge (in the process spending an average of 45 minutes on the phone) and month after month I am told the same story that they're "looking into it". The situation is still not resolved. Shame, because the product is OK. I just want to pay the advertised price for it, which surely shouldn't be too difficult to arrange.

Been with Talk talk for 5 months, awful broadband so bad you can't connect to a phone and laptop at the same time!
Engineer installed the main socket in the back bedroom knowing we had the TV package, I then had to pay for the connectors, they didn't want to move the socket, they blamed BT and I blamed them MY provider! I was so fed up of so many calls to the Indian call centre, emails, them not understanding my issue, I took it upon myself to contact Dido Harding via Linked in (admittedly I had a few wines) Low and behold within two working days I had a response from the CEO office Agreed for a Talk talk engineer to come out, turns out the original adapters were faulty. TV up and running but the broadband (I think currently) is 5.6 and 0.58. Awful!!!

Almost a year later..hours and hours following TT instructions and tests, new router, Brightspark engineer visit..still averaging 16-28Mbps.
This is what a TT guaranteed 34Mbps download actually looks like.
BS Engineer suspects Openreach line/connections back to green box (which is only approx 200metres away.
This ball is still in TalkTalk's court.

Garbage service and customer service, we had the standard broadband with talk talk before moving to sky and the internet was ok before but with sky it slowed down. When we moved back to talk talk and upgraded it actually got worse for reliability and speed we were meant to be getting 17mbps we actually get 1.4mbps and apparently that is above the minimum they have to supply! We have tried to leave but there is an exit fee of over £100 so we are looking into fibre with cashback to offset the exit fee.

Talk Talk are little more than a bunch of crooks.
I'd been with Tiscali since 2002, and had thus been out of contract for years when Talk Talk took them over.
About 6 months after this I tried to cancel my account - only to be told that I was in an 18 month contract?? They claimed I had arranged this over the phone, this was absolutely untrue. Moreover I'd never had any paperwork from them to actually tell me I was in a contract.
So clearly its a system error, but they would not discuss it over the phone, and instead made me write to customer services. I did so twice, supplying the information they asked, and requesting proof of this alleged contract arrangement. In the end they told me they could go through their phone recordings - for a fee. Also they pointed out that not all calls are recorded so the alleged phone call might not be found (what a suprise).
So basically I was unable to argue with them. Only option would have taken them to county court but frankly I've got better things to do than waste time with idiots like these.
So I just waited for the this foisted upon me contract to expire, and then cancelled immediately. AVOID THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE LIARS.

Terrible customer service. Despite spending hours on the phone Talk talk were incapable of a simple upgrade to our broadband contract. As a consequence l had to seek an alternative provider.

I first contacted TalkTalk's sales department on 9th July to enquire about broadband and TV services for the property I was about to move in to. For TV I was given the option for an engineer to call and for the box to be delivered to me directly for self install. I opted for self install.
I was surprised to receive a text on 15th July telling me that an engineers appointment had been made for 28th July and that I would incur a fee if he called and I was not at home. I called the so called "customer service" department to explain that I didn't want an engineer and that I had opted for self install. I was told that the only way I could cancel this would be to call on 19th July (the date the landline went active) and cancel then.
When I called on the 19th, the person I spoke to told me she was unable to cancel the appointment and that she would have to out me through to someone more senior. I was in the phone for nearly an hour and eventually was told that the engineers appointment had been cancelled and that I would receive the box in 2-4 days.
The following day, I received another text informing me that an engineers appointment was booked and that I would incur a fee if I missed the appointment. Once again, I called you "customer service" department to find out what was going on. The person on the phone told me that and engineers appointment had been made. I tried to explain, as patiently as possible, that I had never asked for an engineers appointment and that I had asked for self install and didn't understand why I had to cancel an appointment I'd never made in the first place. This person then told me that the appointment had been successfully cancelled and that I should expect to receive the equipment within. 3-5 days. (Why had it gone up? I'd been told 2-4 days the previous day).
Yesterday (24th July) I called about something unrelated, but while I was on the phone I asked if there was any progress in my TV order. I was told that the equipment would be delivered by the engineer on 28th July.
I explained AGAIN that I DO NOT WANT an engineer , I have NEVER WATED and engineer and, from the outset I have wanted SELF INSTALL. The "customer service" representative told me she was unable to cancel the appointment.
At this point I said I want to lodge an official complaint. I was promised a call back from a manager.
I received no call back as promised, so phoned again and was put though to a "customer service" manager. After a long and drawn out conversation, he accepted that TalkTalk had made a mistake in booking the engineers appointment in the first place. However, he explained that now that the appointment has been made it cannot be cancelled and that the only way for me to order the equipment is to phone AFTER the appointment date.
This is totally unacceptable. First of all, as it was their mistake, not mine (as confirmed by the "customer service" manager) why should the onus be on me to phone and place the order myself? They made the mistake, they should sort it!
Secondly, why can't the appointment be cancelled and the equipment sent to me directly? Surely it can't be that difficult.
This is the worst customer service I have ever encountered, and considering I used to be with Virgin Media before this, that's saying something!

Talk talk is great until there is a problem and you need technical help then you need a great deal of patience and time - I still do not have their homesafe feature working after 2 months and their technical team are never available when transferred to them. Annoying fist line support as well typically takes 20 minutes to get them to understand the problem.

I have been with talktalk for well over ten year the broadband is ok but talktalk have slowly kept moving the prices. in May last year I was paying £22 per month for broadband and line rental, and now they are saying I have agreed to a contract to pay £40.20 per month, which I have not! They have no phone records but still say this is the price till October 2017.baring in mind they are offering new customers the same deal for half the price.I would advise people to be careful getting into contracts with this company and if u are already in one check your bills. I have tried on numerous occasions to speak to talk talk to querie this, they just pass me from one adviser to another, or one manager to another, but never solving my problem.

Go live date was Friday the 2nd , after the unusual 7-10days waiting ?? WHY ( they obviously don't do anything constructive in this time )So today is the Monday the 5th...Still NO BRAODBAND / WIFI shocker!!!
Many Many Many phone calls , different answers and yet still NO REAL answer as to why the WIFI is not working. Call centre should run for office as politicians.

Run... I mean run
Had my install, signed up for my home number being withheld. Talk talk did not issue us any documentation with our home phone number on it...
Split with the wife, i'm taking on the account.
We print out and fill in a change of ownership form, using account number. For the phone number (it does not dictate landline) i put a contact number, my mobile.
We then part ways, send it in, assuming everything should be done.
Talk talk send me a letter saying i need to fill in the form with the landline number (not asked for, did not have it) and did not send me the form back...
I call up, explain the situation, explain the emotional distress travelling to see my wife again would be and how every other company has been reasonable. Talk talks response... Go see her and get her to sign the form and send it in for this to happen.
This goes on for around 45 minutes
Finally i get to a manager who insists not to worry, it will be completed within 7 days...
2.5 weeks later i get a price rise notice, the account ownership has still not been updated. Now the customer service rep tells me it will take another 7 days to complete.
I call back to verify this info, no record.
Customer service rep escalates this to ceo as a formal complaint
I call back to get an update... No record of the formal complaint
I raise through social media. I finally get a complaint number
I call to chase this after 4 days. Will not deal with me as i'm not the account holder even though i am the person who put in the complaint.
The Saturday i get a call saying it will be sorted on the Monday (the dd is due out of her account the same day so i hope its switched before then)
The direct debit comes out of my wife's account, i wire the cash to cover the bill.
I get a phone call later on that day saying the account switch has finally been done, a small apology. I log on, treated as a new customer, no records of any previous bills.
I finally put my notice in to leave, spend 1.5 hours doing so. They ask me to come up with an offer to stay, i say a move from fiber to regular broadband and £20 credit.
They say it cannot be done.
1 day later i get a call saying it can be done. By this point i'm already signing up with sky...
If you want customer service like this, go with talk talk. They may be the cheapest but if you have any difficulty they are terrible

This review is going to be from a stand point of a technology aware person. I'm a designer/web developer and I am aware of networking technologies. First things first, our network is throttled. The speed is constantly hitting a 2Mbps sealing. I am not even getting 1/3 of the promised speed. No matter if it's a wired or wireless connection. B, G or N connection type all show the same results.
Whenever I call them to discuss this issue, I am faced with an Indian person who speaks extremely broken English. They force me to follow a prewritten script that's set out to waste half an hour of my life and also involves restarting my router half a dozen times. No matter how many times I call them, it never changes. If you have any logical thinking, you probably have tried restarting your router before you even make the call. I guess people who have designed this way of dealing with customers are lacking this so called logical thinking. After the call, we "mystically" get an additional 1Mbps speed bump for a few days and then it starts all over again.
Interestingly enough, when we finally decided to cancel our contract, we were greeted by an Englishman who was not only helpful but also offered a million other equally useless services before actually doing what was asked in the first place. Don't get me wrong. I come from another country and English is not my first language. Instinctively this kind of a staff placement makes me think it's a set-up and people who work with cancelations are there just to hold this nightmare together like a brick wall.
Be advised and never ever chose TalkTalk.

Less than 1Mb speed on fibre; just lost over 2 hours on phonecall to their call centre during which I was passed from person to person to give the same details. no solution offered. upon complaining I was told was told "we have 4.5 million customers so you don't matter". yet they are still trying to keep me locked in to the contract hopeless. disgraceful. disgusting

Overall a terrible experience. TalkTalk is incompetent - being completely unable look after its customers and their data. In response to yet another data breach I called to cancel my service and I had my decision questioned with statements like "what makes you think any other provider can keep your data safe?". Upon pointing out the blatant breach of the Data Protection Act 1998 I was met with 3 minutes silence before the operator responded with some nonsense about Talk Talk being the 'victim'. Awful company I will never go near them again!

Absolutely awful!! Well over a year of intermittent Internet connection and several requests for change of router (on recommendation of IT engineer) resulted in nothing! Paper bills sent, despite requests not to do so. No problems for two months since leaving Talk Talk. Says it all!
