Broadband speed has slowed to 3.3Mb today. It has been slow for a week now. Usually we can achieve 5.5Mb which is about as good as it gets in this area. Standard phone line speed is reckoned at 5.5Mb so we are the slowest around. Not happy. I shall be contacting Sky to see if they are slowing us down

Awful broadband customer service. Tried to join sky but they failed to get an engineer round on day of installation. Repeatedly called over 3 weeks but they wouldn't get another one out. Eventually they said only way to get me broadband was to cancel the service. Obviously I went with another provider.

However they still debited me for the broadband, and it took weeks to get them to refund it.

Not only that, they are now trying to charge me £122 for early exit fee! Joke.

Terrible company and terible customer service, AVOID

Was happy enough when I was with Sky (TV, phone and broadband) although a bit costly. Had to change due to a rental move and they made it almost impossible to leave. Took me nearly 3 months of wrongfully sent texts and emails from Sky, numerous text chats and phone calls with customer services who all promised to sort out what was all a Sky mess and not my fault but they never did. Now I have completely unrelated email offers saying "come back to Sky" at half price of what I originally paid. So they clearly charge too much from their current customers when they can afford that :-(.

When you have it, the speed is ok, but it frequently goes off. Very unreliable! Customer Service have been no help at all, leaving! Don't recommend Sky broadband at all.

Absolutely terrible service, customers are treated like they don't matter, and good luck trying to leave! I've been stuck in a queue for over 4 and a half hours and still waiting for a 'loyalty' advisor - I don't need a loyalty advisor I just want to leave!

I would NEVER recommend Sky to anyone, speed is never what you pay for, they charge for things you've never asked for and then 'restrict your account' for non payment. Everything is geared up to need to spend as much money as possible with them, ie needing 'the booster' - no, your router should be sufficent to not require a booster!

Sign up with them at your peril!

    Awful, awful, awful.
I would recommend Sky to people who are lonely and like the idea of being on the phone for 45 minutes every other day for a month trying to sort out installation problems. Especially if you like talking to people who have no understanding of what has been discused previously as they work in different buildings and information is not passed on.
It took us a month to get our internet sorted and even then the 'fibre optic' speed was slower than under my old contract. I will be leaving as soon as my contract allows.

I have been a customer of Sky for the last 6-7 years. However, they keep increasing the prices for existing customers, instead of showing a little appreciation for customers staying for such a long time with them. During my phone call in January, I was informed that I have to call Sky twice a year and ask them for a discount, otherwise the prices will continue to grow. The reason is that I have a contract for a TV taken in June and for a broadband taken in December, and Sky cannot do anything to join these contracts, so I don't need to call them twice a year for this reason. Moreover, when I asked whether Sky can send some kind of information prior the price increase, I was told "we cannot send you a letter or an email, we have enough customers - in fact over 1 million". Well, that is kind of rude. For the £72 I am paying per month for years, it is certainly not the answer I expected. I mean, even if you don't want to offer a discount, there is a polite way of doing it. I am considering moving to other broadband/ TV provider, so if someone can recommend any provider, please let me know!

I've been with Sky for some years now but call every year to argue for a reduction on the bill for the next 12 months as they are not competitive (too expensive) and the service isn't great. I've had 2 modems from them now and the ranges are poor. The service is definitely intermittent - both by PC and my TV drop out reasonably regularly which is very frustrating if you're watching a film and have to take a break while the broadband reconnects which can take ages. I wouldn't recommend it but I stick with it as I can't be bothered to set up a new supplier. Virgin cable, which I had before, was much better but it was hideously expensive.

Crap speed. Broadband disconnects once a day. Just resigned up as I was moving house. Sky meant to go on today. SURPRISE it's not been "turned on remotely". Utter garbage company.

Sky broadband is atrocious on every single level. It cuts out frequently, the download speeds are positively glacial and the customer service is non-existent. Waiting 20 minutes to be put through to someone on their service team while being told the quickest way to resolve an issue is online is a sure fire way to infuriate your existing customers. I look forward to the day when I am free of this lamentable service. If there was a way to leave negative stars I would.

I'm coming to the end of my 18 month contract with Sky so feel I'm in a good position to write a review. It's my first house so I don't have a previous ISP to compare to at the property.

In terms of setup, there was a slight delay to the activation date, which I was well informed about. Luckily I went away on holiday for a week a few days after moving in, so the service was activated by the time I returned. The router was delivered through the letterbox and only took 5 minutes to setup.

The router has decent coverage but unfortunately can't reach the back of the house on the first floor. It's an old house with thick, solid walls so this is understandable. I setup an old BT homehub as an access point upstairs which means I now get coverage throughout the whole house. The router works well out the box, there are a few things you can change and monitor via the My Sky smartphone app and there are some more advanced security features you can setup by navigating to the routers local IP address in a web browser.

I'm on the 36MB/s package and I've been getting that without issue. In terms of reliability, other people on Sky in my area have reported issues but I haven't experienced any. I've had a reliable connection whenever I've need it and there hasn't been significant throttling back at peak times.

Now that my contracts coming to an end, the price is set to increase by £15 per month from £27 to £42. I looked around for some better deals off other providers, along with what Sky could offer a new customer on my package (£25 p/m). I also checked online what upgrade deals they could give me and the only available upgrade was guaranteed 100MB/s for £27 per month (same as what I'm currently paying); faster speeds is nice but 36MB/s is enough for me most of the time, I'd rather save a few pounds. Armed with this information, I phone up Sky to see what they could offer over the phone (you know, these companies always say they can give you the best deals if you ring them up). I explained that I'm happy with the speed but want a cheaper price, the best they could come up with is the same speed for £27 per month - exactly what I'm paying now, which would also get me guaranteed 100MB/s if I upgraded online.

Overall, I've been happy with Sky in terms of speed and reliability but they've been unwilling to give me a competitive renewal price. I'm now moving to EE who offer 36MB/s for £23, plus £100 topcashback on top as well as 5GB extra mobile data.

I had a full package of Sky with broadband and TV including sports and family. As I didn't have a good experience through out the year so as my contract was finishing I called them to cancel my subscription when my contract finishes but they said its 35 days to my completion of contract and I have to call them within a month. I said ok and called them after 2 weeks and now they say that I must be having Sky for another 31 days as they need a 31 days notice for cancellation. I said I am moving to a new place would Sky be able to install this system for the next 31 days for me at my new place and they said no because I have just asked for cancellation. I wonder why am I paying this extra 31 days bill when I won't be able to watch Sky or use its internet. I'll pay the 31 days rent now for nothing just because I didn't call them exactly one month before the finish of my contract. Giving customers such a narrow window to call on a particular day is a way of robbing them.

broadband cuts out multiple times a day and night, this also affects my sky tv recordings as the box stops working correctly without a broadband connection. Online help is always busy or unavailable. to phone for support costs me same as a prime rate number even tho im on sky talk and even if i wasn't i shouldn't have to pay to report a fault on their end.. had a sky rep stop me in the street recently to offer me sky services, after i told him about all of the above he was not shocked in the slightest more so upset that his college who was dealing with a potential customer who after hearing the above decided not to take out a sky contract with them. overall they promise big and deliver very very little. will be going to bt when contract finished!!!!!!!

As a student myself and my two flat mates had sky broadband installed because it was one of the cheapest offers on the market, and everyone we knew had decided to go with Sky also.

I must admit, we never had any issues with connection except for when there was a storm, and the speed wasn't really an issue either. However, the customer service from Sky is appalling. Trying to cancel the broadband was a very difficult process - one that started in early June and has only just concluded in mid August. Sky had continued to take money from my account the month after it was cancelled, having given the required 14 day notice this should not have happened. To make things worse, every time we phoned the customer service team we got a different response, initially telling us that we owed more money for cancellation despite our contract term being over. Both members of the team at the call centre we spoke to about this were rude, patronising and unhelpful, and both insisted that we had been told about cancellation fees when we took out the contract (there was no mention of this as we didn't cancel it early). Having paid the extra they claimed we owed, I then received an email stating that I was due a refund for the money that had been taken out of my account and the extra I had paid.

I think it is worth mentioning that all 6 of my student friends that chose Sky broadband for their student houses also had very similar, if not worse issues with sky when it came to cancellation. Definitely an experience that none of us will be going through again.

Very slow and that is when it's working! Sent an engineer out to only fix the phone when I really need broadband as I'm a university student, causing problems with me completing work! If it's not fixed this time will definitely be cancelling, they are quick enough to to take the money but not very good at providing the service!

Can you believe they have the audacity to take the full price of our money, but can’t even sort their internet out yet again. Literally last week there was a big outage and went down again, I’m sick of them and will be leaving them. Take my word they’re greedy and couldn’t care less about providing you “the best broadband”

I had just moved to Swansea from Brum and went about getting a Sky broadband connection. What a huge mistake. It took me over 4 months from initial payment to sky actually setting up broadband at my residence. Customer service was appalling - i spent numerous hours - being pushed around various departments to no end. It was humiliating, cost me financially, emotionally, and had to take time off work many times believing that a technician would arrive and did not. If I could provide a lower review, I would. I have lived in west Africa, the Caribbean, Philippines and even there such rubbish was unheard of. Honestly, Sky is the worst provider in our country.

We have been with sky since we moved into the house. However, it has never been reliable and during the speed test I have just carried out the max speed recorded was less than 1Mb/sec. Customer service is at best poor, an example being in sept we were left without broadband for a week without an explanation.

I am on Sky Broadband Connect, Paying £17.00 pcm for abysmal speeds, and regular disconections, loss of server you name a broadband problem I get it. They advertise upto 8Mb (i think on this package) but because it's an old BT package and it's so over subscribed the sheer ammount of people trying to use the internet at popular times it becomes pointless sometimes even trying to open a basic webpage, let alone try to upload pics/movies etc to things like FB or photobucket. For example i did a speedtest recently and the average i was getting was 0.08Mb DL / 0.07Mb UL. the only time i got a decent speed ie: 6Mb was about 3am and tbh i am usually in bed by then.

The broadband speed is very slow and the reliability is poor
When you are using the Internet it often switches off(on my
iPad) The download speed on tv programmers is very slow ,
Sometimes it takes overnight to download a programme.
Trying to get through to Sky on the phone, where you should
be able to speak to a human being is a trial in itself.

Was told when we signed up by Sky that we should easily expect around 60-70mb which we did after 2 weeks it dropped to around 5-15mb average and has never improved they done something to the line also can't even watch YouTube vids or reels as stops and starts my 1998 dial up modem was faster than sky when I complain all they say is I need to invest in a kit of expensive boosters!. I don't need boosters I'm close to modem live in a town not a village and should be getting much faster connection with what I pay them.

Last 4-5 months the speed has been capped so dramaticaly that my broadband is pretty much unuseable between 5pm to 11.30pm/ midnight - average speed test = download of 0.23 mb/s - utter rubish - There should be a legal recourse to take Sky to task over mis-representation - how the hell can this be sold as 'Broadband'?? I might as well save £17 per month and go back to dial up...would be faster - I give up phoning Sky anymore -I might as well ask the cat..

I had boardband connection problem since end of May, connection always dropped, tried to contact sky to solve the problem, spoke with their customer service in the beginning of June after queuing for nearly 1 hour, problem had not been solved, then from last Friday, I also used their message service, I spoke with more than ten people till now, Sunday evening, everyone just ask me' would you like me to  Troubleshoot  to find out the problem today with your Internet ?' After I answered yes then no response . Later it bacame a new person ask same question then disappear again. Never use sky. I try to leave as I got no connection for such long time but they said unless they found the problem, I cannot leave as my contract has not been finished yet, I think I have to pay the money and run away. My contact says that they will provide me boardband but they did not. And they refused to give any compensation. They got problems few times last year and there was no connection for the whole area for a whole day, they didn't even message us to tell us.

Like most others here our wifi drops all the time and Sky won't accept it's their problem and fix it. Also the price has skyrocketed...now close to £100/month for TV, phone and broadband. Sadly Virgin isn't available in our area. If they ever come here we'll be leaving Sky faster than we can click our ruby slippers together! Horrifying lack of service.

"we don't slow you down at peak times"..... Said sky. Nah they just cut you off. My Internet at peak times does not work. They fail every week to provide me with 1.5mb... Yes 1.5. My phone signals 3 times as quick. Phoned them countless times willing to do nothing to the apparent bt line. I don't care about bt I pay my money to sky. Connection drops out every hour would recommend anyone double checks the what 3rd party provider can offer over bt who own lines. Had bt bb in my old house 50/13 and keep two years I'm sure it dropped out once for about 15 mins. You pay for what you get. sky do TV not bb

Speed is a sixth of what other providers are claiming on fibre. Our Fibre connection is provided via BT's network. The speed is really poor at present for some reason of late the fibre speed rarely gets above 20mb

Avoid!!! Even when it does work it is ridiculously slow, try and remember the days of slow dial up then slow it down again 40 times.
Then it goes altogether, coupled with the fact you need it to watch sky tv it is appalling.

Started out on fibre with 40mbps download speeds, over the past two years it has slowly decreased down to 4mbps. Simply disgusting.
