A note to any prospective customers: AVOID @sky broadband at all costs, we have had a terrible experience. We contacted to request broadband set up in December and were told earliest line would be available was 21st Jan because "lines controlled by BT". We waited the full time quoted (a long time to go without the internet in a new home!) and it wasn't set up correctly for that date, and every day since we've had to call them for any update, to be told each day that it will definitely be resolved that evening. Today, with still no internet at home, we have finally been told it will be at least 4th Feb before anything is sorted. Customer service has been appalling and sky consistently blame BT for fault as they own lines - we have had to chase for updates and sky take no responsibility - if you don't even have the authority to set up a line by your agreed date (or any date thereafter) don't offer a broadband service! I often work from home and have had to go to any nearby location with wi-fi for a week now, and there is no sign of any change. We really regret ever signing up to sky broadband and unless you want a similar experience I would suggest you don't either. AVOID!!!!

I had to write this review as I am still fuming.

I have had issues with my broadband since last year, they told me it was an external fault and an engineer would be sent to fix this outside of the property. I have bee phoning sky all month (January 2016) it seem to be un- resolvable. Every time you phone they tell you to trouble shoot, even if you just called an hour ago?

Eventually the phone line went down which was a major problem because I look after my uncle who is 92 and not in the best of health so he has an emergency pendant which he wears around his neck; we also have a box connected to the phone line.

I was not even aware the phone line was cut off until the police showed up at my door after midnight, thinking there was a problem. Sky told me that they have a 24 hour broadband number which seems to close at 9.30pm???

I can't wait for my contract to expire. I will be seeking legal action as they are useless. Different representatives give you different answers to the same question. Sky don't even know what Sky offer. Not one person asked me if there was an emergency box in the house and the last representative said they wouldn't ask. All they are talking about is loss of service not concerned that they could have cost life.

I do understand that things go wrong but I don't understand that things have been going wrong for over a month, after more than 10 phone calls and the phone has to be completely disconnected before they solve the problem.

A Sky representative called me today (29/01/2016), he got me so upset with his ignorant attitude I just had to write the review. I didn't like it so I wouldn't like any one else to experience it either. However, the choice is entirely yours.

Sky will soon be a thing of the past because they really are outdated.

There are so many negative reviews about Sky here that it is easy to jump to conclusion that their service is total crap is not worth trying. But then you should bear in mind that most people care to leave a review only when their experience is negative. Luckily I had a friend who had Sky broadband and she was quite happy with them. Since I had a very negative experience with Virgin Media and Sky at the moment was willing to give a generous discount I decided to give it a try and I don't regret it. My average download speed is 12 Mbps and is quite reliable. The only minus I can think of is that it takes a long time to get through their support if you need something but I can live with that. All in all I guess it's a lottery and depends on your location: you might get unreliable connection and poor speed or things might be quite good as they are in my case.

Absolutely awful. A lot of the time, I have to resort to using the 4G on my phone in order to actually get decent internet. Actually feel like I've gone back in time 10 years since adopting the services of Sky, appalling speed and suffers multiple outages per day.
As a student, I can't wait to get home to use proper internet by a decent service provider (i.e. Virgin).

The speed is good, I get around 16mbps down and 1 up. However my router is very very unreliable. Constantly cuts out and comes back. I've checked the router, nothing seems up with it. Wouldn't really reccomend.

Moved to Sky from Talk Talk. From day one I have experienced issues. Channel 103 very rarely works. Internet is regularly down. I had no phone or Internet for 2 weeks over Christmas and they sent me a £7.00 voucher - what an insult!! But the call centre employee made out he was doing me a favour - must think all their customers are stupid!!! Have to switch everything off at the electricity supply to make it work again - welcome to the 21st century!! As soon as my contract has expired I will most definitely move to a new supplier! Be warned - do not move to SKY!

I would never recommend Sky to anyone following today's events. A number of things have gone wrong including bad Internet connection, terrible customer service, being given incorrect information by different customer service adviser's, however primarily with regards to our payments.

Our Internet wasn't working when it was supposed to so when we called and spoke with a lady at Sky she VERY kindly offered us 2 months free sports and movies as a gesture of goodwill. That was on the 3rd of December, so obviously would expire on the 3rd of February. We received a text this morning telling us our bill was over £90. We were so shocked, it turned out Sky are now charging us for the movies and sports because 'we didn't cancel the subscription ourselves'. We spoke with a man named AKIB in the billing department. He explained that there was nothing he could do basically and we had to pay the charge. I wanted to speak with his manager who said 'he wouldn't come onto the call because there was no point, he said he had to have a reason to take the call and there wasn't one'.

My partner and I have been so patient considering everything that's happened. We must have asked to speak with a supervisor 30 times. When asked, Akib explained that it was more or less our own fault and if it was him 'he wouldn't put himself in this position because obviously free stuff is not free forever' (and I quote). It took 3 times for Akib to give my partner head office's address when asked, he also said there was no point in writing to them.

Appalling customer service, is not the phrase I would use. I cannot believe we've been screwed over by such a reputable company, they just do not care!!!

I will repeat this message on every site I can until something is done about this!

I have had a problem with my broadband speed since 2nd January 2016. The concern was discussed with your Support team and no concern was found, therefore i was advised to have my phone line checked. I have had a Technician from BT Openreach check the line at a potencial cost of £151 even though all he did had no effect on the speed of the Broadband! I have been back in contact with Sky Technicians to explain that there as been no change in the speed of my Broadband or phone.
The issue was revisited and it was found that the speed had been set at a reduced level instead of the highest broadband speed, which i pay for. The Support Team Member assured me that any cost occured for the BT Openreach Technicians visit would be absorbed by Sky. I am very greatful for this gesture.

    Many thanks

Changed from bt infinity to sky broadband . Was told it was going to be 1-4 MB for the first month and then it would be upgraded to super fast fiber at 38 MB . 4 months later and we still have the same Internet as we started with . The internet speed isn't even between the 1-4 MB that was stated . It has been on average 0.7 MB , which is ridiculous . Would not recommend , cancelling the broadband consisted of around 6 different phone numbers being given to us to call and on average 15-20 minutes of being on hold . Terrible service all round .

I have recently changed from Bt fiber
    Because of dropping out issues
Contacted sky as they are my TV provider and all you see is them advertising how good there board band is.
So contacted them and informed them what boardband I had with BT and ask them for a price
They come back with a better price so I went with them on day one of change over I could no longer stream sky to my bed room and the boardband kept crashing.
Contacted sky and the informed me that I just had sky boardband not sky fibre so I requested that I needed the fibre then they informed me that I
would have to pay £20 more a month and a nice £50 activation fee
I reluctantly done this they switched it over yesterday and I have no Internet at all they are sending a engineer today to look into it it has cost me nearly £50 in call fees to call there service centre
If it isn't resolved today I will be taking my business eleswhere
I would advise people reading this do not got to sky boardband

Absolutely appalling service. Only been a customer for 2 months and already accumulated I have lost around 3 weeks worth of internet due to this disgusting service. Had both sky engineers and BT open reach engineers out. Both have said the issue is essentially "sky's end." They have breached contract in failure to provide me what I am paying for. Their customer service is rubbish as they want you to go over the same routine again and again, to seem like they are doing something whilst the feed you more verbal diarrhea, even though you tell them it has already been assessed and you know the probably is them. They will not credit your account as virgin, bt anothers do. Which they should do when essentially they're stealing your money because they are taking it but not providing what they are contracted to provide.

I will be transferring and seeking costs for losses.

I've been with Sky for several years and their customer service used to be superb. Unfortunately it's gone downhill and now sits within the rest of its competitors (i.e. mediocre). They are scared witless of BT and could therefore offer me a competitive deal when I was renewing my contract. The trouble is the performance of the router is so bad I can only use the wifi downstairs and within a 3-4m range. Its truly woeful. They cleverly (some may say sneakily) only guarantee the speed into your router (which is what was promised), but anything beyond that is down to me. Reading reviews on the internet, the router is the worst on the market and therefore I'm not getting my fibreoptic service in 80% of my house. Ironically I can pick up all of the neighbours' BT wifi.

Up until recently I was using virgin broadband which pretty much gave me the download speed advertised & paid for. I'm now in a sky broadband household and of the 'up to 15mb' quoted, the other day it was 1.9!!! On better days it skyrockets to about 2.5. My local rail station (cheshunt) is 4 and the local wetherspoons 12!!! Sky have suggested that I upgrade to fibre optic - NOT A CHANCE!!!!

Honestly this wifi is utter rubbish in every category possible, The wifi randomly disconnects, It cannot handle more than a couple of people without disconnecting and the customer support is crap. If I'm on a console or laptop I have to have it in the same room as the router for it not to lag or have it plugged in via Ethernet.

I was a Sky Broadband customer (speed and reliability perfectly fine), then switched to another provider 12 months ago. Called the Sky Broadband sales team again recently to check offers and was immediately put off by the Neanderthal-like sales tactics. They've put me off and I won't be returning!

Absolutely shocking, shocking service. Never had anything like that. First of all, they say that they give good speeds for my area yet my neighbours are only hitting 5 Mbps? If I were to only be so lucky. I have been checking my internet speeds consistently over the past few days. 1 Mbps. I started downloading a game last night at 7pm. 25 hours later and im 19% in. TERRIBLE. Also, it's worse value for money than professional football matches. Avoid Sky at all costs, people. Don't even bother giving yourself such a bad time. Never, ever again.

Absolute joke of a company. Quick enough to take your money, not quick enough to give you it back. They cut off my sky because they said that we hadn't opened the door to OpenReach (who were installing) this was after day four of waiting for OpenReach to turn up. Who then turned up without a date or time. My flat mate has now been waiting 5 months for a refund. I then set up the account in my name, again, no internet at all but they've had the cheek to charge me for the past two months, saying it would be easier to refund if it went through after my direct debit. 3 months on, still waiting a refund which will apparently go through on the 19th of January... 4 months after opening my account. Guy on the phone told me I'd get some form of compensation. Next lady on the phone told me that was not at all possible. Joke of a company. I would not recommend.

I applied for sky at the end of Nov and got an email that they booked an appointment for Dec 9th for a technician to visit and enable Broadband, Technician came never called me and left without informing any, when i call customer care initial person said, they enabled and I will get internet from midnight, i waited till next day morning and when i called Customer care, they told some problem and assigned ticket to some other team and issue will get resolved by Friday (12th), however nothing happened, when i gave a call back i was told still they didn’t fix and it will be completed by 16th for sure and as a courtesy they gave me 15 pounds credit to buy a dongle, as you know how expensive these dongles (paid extra bugs from pocket) are and the one i got finished in two days and i end up in paying extra bugs till 16th Dec, as usual none from sky team called and when i called they said issue is not resolved and they were going to look on Thursday and will give a call back to me on Friday, when i asked will they fix for sure this time or no, he simply said not sure and if they didn’t fix you have to wait, when I requested can you give a courtesy call for status, he didn’t answer. On top of this when I asked will get any additional credit to recharge my dongle till issue resolved, he simply said not possible.

Position I am is being in a great developed Country struggling for basic internet since many days and not sure when I can get.

Hope some Senior Management from sky Teams listens my concern and assist with right info.

    Regards,
    Sudheer.

Honestly, the most infuriating and disgustingly poor service I have ever encountered. I live in a small 2 bedroom flat, that unless you're in the room of the router you cannot get any signal. I'm talking no more than 3 - 4 metres away. And when you do get signal, it drops 20 (at least, no exaggeration) times a day. When an addition device adds to the wifi (e.g. When my partner returns from work and his phone connects) the wifi crashes and takes 10 or so minutes to reconnect. When you are connected, it is slower than the dial up I had in 99. With regards to customer service, when I have called regarding issues with the internet I am forced to go through the same pointless routine of pulling each and every wire in and out of the router and wall, despite the record on my file that I did that 10 minutes ago with a different operator. Following which I'm told a referral to management is in place and they will call back within 48 hours, which has never happened. So I have to call back and go through the wire routine again, before being passed to management, something they said couldn't be done immediately on the previous call. I am then told it's a problem with my micro filter, and they will send a new one which will take 3-5 days. When it arrives 5 days later it's not the microfilter, so I have to call back, pull out more wires to even talk to anyone, and when I finally get through am told it's the router and they will send one in 3-5 days. 5 days arrive and they accidentally send another microfilter rather than router, so I have to call back again. Same routine. By which point I'm clocking double digits on the hours on the phone. Finally, after 5 weeks of nonsense, one final genuinely good employee actually listens to me, reads my file and realises that he whole problem was a simple click on a button at their end that they made the mistake for. No compensation offered, when I asked I was brushed off with a nation wide offer already in place for any old Joe. Since which my service had been deplorable, and the only reason for not changing suppliers is that to do so I would have to go without any internet for at least a week in change over, and I work from home. And at this point I'm used to working intermittently, with a break every half hour on average, often more. For a company so big, I have never known such horrendous service and customer service to back it up. All I want is a continuous stream (with the odd exception that of course can happen) of Internet and a signal that extends beyond one room. This is supposed to be their speciality! If you are choosing a new provider, NEVER ever go near sky with a barge pole. Absolute joke.

Transfered my tv, broadband and telephone from EE to Sky only to have no broadband 2 days after my due date. I called them ever day and was given promises that they would have it working by yhe end of the working day. After 10 days of this (in which i had paid my first bill) i recieved an email to say they have cancelled my order and expect me to place a new order and pay the £10 installation fee again. Don't switch to sky, they offer nothing but empty promises and then try to make you pay double.

Bad to start with and getting worse. BB speed less than 4 Mb/s down and about 0.8 Mb/s up. When I complained that it is less than their contractual levels they told me they weren't surprised as they are adding new customers!

What sort of company adds new customers that the existing ones pay for? Sky.....+

Worst. There was an incident when the internet went out and my sis in law called Sky. They - according to our contract- was supposed to send a person out to fix any issues, however in order to qualify for that we had to open up the router and check for issues. So i opened up the router and started explaining what I was saying to the guy and pressing here and there to solve the issue. This is my first source of complaint because not everyone knows how to open up a router. When my sis in law was told to do that she got furious, and was lucky I was able to step in.

The next problem we experienced was now- the winter time. The internet would literally for the whole day go out completely. It's connection is horrible as well. My phone cannot connect to the router either.

My friends in the area in Barking are also experiencing the same issue. For me it seems that it doesn't suit my area, but having looked at the comments here i can see it is an issue with the product itself. Appalling. And i have to wait for my contract to end in April!

I am very disappointed with my sky service and the customer services. We have moved property and we have had no phone line and no WiFi for over a month we have the most basic package as me and my partner are on.benefits due to my partner being disabled and we are getting billed £82.00 for 2 months television. They are not helping us they are just saying that's that basically. We have spend nearly 8 hours on the phone to sky being passed from person to person and nobody knowing how they can help. They want money off people for nothing. Sky can't believe how awful this last month has been due to sky making our lives very stressful.

Absolutely dreadful broadband. I changed to Sky being promised a decent download speed. Not only did this not happen but the wifi regularly goes off and downloading a film takes several hours. Total misery, be warned.

Worst internet available switched from BT infinity and am amazed by just how bad sky is. Do NOT go with sky internet ever as it will cause nothing but stress as I have experienced my self as I have been disconnected during online games and couldn't even get my second console to connect.
    AVOID SKY AT ALL COSTS

Incredibly slow and weak connection. The sky hub is downstairs and it was impossible to connect to it from upstairs so we bought the sky wifi booster. The signal is still weak and its very difficult to connect to the wifi from the upstairs rooms even though theres barely any distance between the sky hub and the rooms

I have sky fibre for a month now it is the worst decision I have made regarding broadband, after at least 3 calls a week to sky all I get is the same response I need to change my channel, I am now out of channel numbers to try, (bring on virgin) The worst advice from sky is to go to sky .com for help how do you do that when you can't get on the internet?
